  • Ahh Final Fantasy Type-0, the most savage FF to date and one of my favourites in the series. From opening to ending this story does not hold back and in todays discussion / theory video I'm going to try and answer how many people died in this game. Full spoiler for end cinematic, cutscenes, gameplay, ost soundtrack... THE LOT! Don't even attempt to step a pinky toe into this video if you aren't looking to spoil the plot.
    Enjoy! :)

A review and a few words, from an ancient fossil of Square's fandom throughout their history.
FF Type-0, one of the greatest FF games ever made (I say this as one who started with FFI Japanese version, and have lived them all--so at least the words can carry some authenticity), and you will KNOW and SEE that Square's false claims that the original script of FFVersus was "too dark" and "too risque" to be released is naturally a completely untrue claim. Type-0 literally has hundreds of thousands of people die, human sacrifice, suicide, with depictions of mass murder through nuclear war (The Ultima Bomb is an exact copy of America's atomic bombing of Hirsohima, even down to the casualties and design of the bomb itself) with it presented as an entertaining yet thought provoking commentary on the tragedies of war as portrayed through the a world of high fantasy and technology.
From FFI to today, Type-0 is easily the most mature, engrossing and engaging Final Fantasies (definitely in the top 3) of them all. And yes, Noctis and Stella were originally meant to be L'cie, much like their forefathers of this world. On a personal note, Type-0's depictions of L'cie as "weapons of god" (unfeeling weapons of war, discarding their humanity for absolute power and immortality) is quite the premise to an amazing setup of characters. You can literally have mortals with the power to challenge the gods and fate itself.
Hell, the tens of thousands of magic users required to sacrifice themselves to summon Alexander alone was.......absolutely staggering and surreal, (not to mention very much steeped in the occult). Alexander, the Fortress of God (Japanese name) split the fucking sky with a biblical clap of thunder and deatomized everything. Now THAT is how an Esper should be portrayed. And it troubles me even now, because you can see how FFVersus was originally meant to transition so perfectly from Type-0, in terms of maturity, the FNC story, its characters, and the setup of nation states preparing people to understand how each country is ruled by their God given Crystals, with their protectors being their L'cie. As the power of one nation's crystal begins to dim, they are forced to move on to consume the resources of other nations--just like real life/oil and resources of our world. It makes the battles seem all too real and able to relate to. There's no good guys, no bad guys, only a war fought for survival of a group of people. One cannot discuss Type-0 without discussing its connection to FFXIII and FNC as one complete, grandiose and now incomplete masterpiece of storytelling.
I am still conflicted that I am supposed to believe Tabata was able to achieve this after I played the abomination of FFXV. The music in Type-0 alone was better than the entire game of FFXV. Tempus Finis......'nuff said. Masterpiece.
    Review:
    Final Fantasy: Type-0 (HD) PS4
    Graphics: 9/10
    Music: 10/10
    Gameplay: 9/10
    Story: 10/10
    Replay Potential: 10/10
Final Thoughts: A mature, masterpiece of storytelling that uses the mythology of Final Fantasy to present a thought provoking, emotionally challenging story, with gut-wrenching depictions of war, politics, and the relationships between nations, friends, and enemies thrown into a situation beyond their control, with the good and bad never shown in black and white, much like the political stage of today. With a setting that is both grandiose yet eerily familiar in the way the Fabula Nova Crystallis framework is used to present a mirror into our own world's history through the lens of Crystal. Daring, different, yet familiar in its presentation, a Final Fantasy for all generations new and old.
Overall Score: 9.8/10 -- A practically flawless execution in game design, a master-class Final Fantasy, with trivial defects easily overlooked by its success in story presentation and overall game experience. Will definitely age well and should be required playing for FF fans of the future.
Final Fantasy # Rating: Top 3

I feel character presentation and how they fall into generic archetypes kinda ruins a lot of the game's realisim, but aside from that this game is amazing.
If there is a ff that did do great characters in a situation like this, it'd be tactics

    • @DemonjustinofPhoenix

Maybe I'm simply ignorant to what you see in it, but the gameplay in T0 is by no means a 9 in my opinion. Only having 2 abilities equipped out of the dozens and spells available, the messy UI, the fumbling difficulty of using items, only being able to track 1 task at a time, the ways by which the game restricts alternate paths on missions despite the lack of conceqences to the story in your original playthrough... I could go on, but there are many points that detract from the gameplay, and in some ways, the story as well. Even just the nature of throwing 15 characters at a player from the start is an issue, as it can make it hard to connect to the characters in question. If you're not connected to the party, it's harder to connect to the world, and if you're not connected, all of that purpose and meaning behind it is empty.
I find it to be a flawed masterpiece in the exact same way all of the FNC games are. 13 embodies the theme of fate, the player may tactically move within the confines the gods have set you within, but your choice is not your own. The entire journey up till Pulse is preordained, and only once you are away from the Fal'cie whom guided that fate are you able to stretch your legs. Even then, you're often set back on the path they desire. 15 embodies the theme of brotherhood, the player is constantly met with their allies, and those allies are bound to you. Each has a specialty, each has a moment they're missing, and if you're invested then every moment is felt. The only time 15's original release hit the mark with me was the end, when I saw the screenshots I had taken thrown back to me and I had to choose what to take with me to the end. That felt like looking back over my journey with my friends, and realizing what we had been through.
I don't find myself hating Type-0s world, or it's story, I just never felt connected to it in a way I do to every other FF. The gameplay creates a barrier that I simply don't enjoy, and with that crossing over with characters I'm simply not attached to, I can't find the game to be worthy of praise.

    • @DemonjustinofPhoenix
      @DemonjustinofPhoenix 3 года назад +1

I've replayed Type-0 since my original post, I still agree with much of what I said, however I think even more-so that it's a flawed masterpiece like 13. The gameplay has a system that allows any player to play any character and, if they've knowledge of how to play their character of choice, and knowledge of the enemy they're fighting, to win that battle regardless of level difference. These Break/Killsights are amazing at giving depth to the game's combat by making every challenge feel beatable while also having a great deal of difficulty. My only real qualm with it is that getting 1-shot is never satisfying, and this game uses too many highly mobile, projectile, or AoE type attacks to properly dodge and fight in some instances, leading to high level combat failing to be as enjoyable as it could be.
I'd say it's an 8, maybe a 7, after replaying it. I really wish it had a proper remake, one that could take full advantage of the ideas and concepts explored through Type-0, as Type-0 is probably one of the better games at making the world of a FF game feel alive, the geography changes, states of the war change, and characters pop up and vanish. While I think the execution could be done better, I think the idea of this world is excellently conveyed, and I really hope one day we can see something that's a true evolution of this game some day.

Zack's death still wounds me the deepest especially with how the gameplay segments quickly take a turn for the worst, at first your healthy but as the battle goes on the dmg you start taking gets heavier and heavier, the drm (forgot the actual term) starts malfunctioning and breaking down (literally like his life flashing before his eyes), Zack starts limping badly as he can barely hold the buster sword any more let alone swing it, can't even defend against the enemy anymore either who're just as healthy and indifferent as the fight began then worst of all...the screen fading to black as you hear more gunshots going off...one of the most well done and most heart wrenching things to ever break through my feelz barrior feels horrible maine T-T. Never forgetti Zack the Puppy

Dude this game has a very interesting dark story-line but the way it is presented is VERY hollow, it suffers from much of the same problems that 15 did, waaaaay to few cutscenes and dialog, way to little character development, and on top of that it has 1 more glaring problem; TOO MANY main characters, you barely get to know any of them before the game s over.

When I started playing this on PS4, I was going through the motions. I just bought it for the FFXV demo it came with. The game seemed cheap, and under developed at first. But once I got a hang of the system and developed a favorable team, I couldn't put it down. Jack was the shit.
After beating it, I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. By far the darkest final fantasy. I remember the anxiety the opening gave me, where the soldier and his chocobo slowly die together. Very heart wrenching. I knew right away this was a different final fantasy. Cut to end, where the school gets overrun, and there are dead students everywhere, I was impressed with the sense of dread raising of stakes that the game casually led you into understanding. I haven't played it other than that once time I beat it, but I'm thinking I need to pull this one out again. Awesome game

Well I just read mostly everybody comments on what they said about Final Fantasy type-0 it truly is one of the most underrated game ever to be made and really not to be heard of people are just look at the title and be like all it's just like the other Final Fantasy games they made previous before but I beg to differ this game is one of my favorite games until this day and I played games from all the way from Gameboy to a Nintendo 64 to PlayStation one all the way up to now into the game consoles we have today this is probably my favorite game. The storytelling was just beautiful and to this day I'm still playing this game actually I have the game on my phone in English I still play it to this very day I wish I had a person to play it with on multiplayer

Actually, the Blue Dragon Crystal was pretty upset because the Dracobaltians ATE their dragons in times of need and cursed them. The crystal lost its power and after that, the Azure Crystal showed up.

Deadliest Final Fantasy? Maybe.. deadliest game ever (kill count - in universe)?? Not by a long shot.
The Halo franchise, hundreds of billions of people over thousands of planets that get glassed during the Human/Covenant war... Horizon Zero dawn, the ENTIRETY of humanity on earth, 7-10 billion people get wiped out by self replicating machines.... Anything set in the warhammer 40K universe, TRILLIONS die everyday in the galaxy-spanning Imperium of Man (not including the Eldar, Dark Eldar, Chaos, Orks, Tau Empire, Necrons, Tyranids) and it's been in a constant state of war for over 10000 years.
But hell, even if you're being specific to the timeline and events happening inside the game itself as the player is playing... in Mass Effect 3 untold billions die as the reapers invade the galaxy.
At 8-9 million, this game doesn't even have the kill count of some of our major real world conflicts... So it's quite a tame and realistic scale of warfare in general.

that happens in type zero and more though. I havent finished the vid yet but type zero has a gimmick where the final war happens in a loop and has been going on in a loop for a really, really long time. Its only in the final cycle where the loop is broken and the people freed from the crystal. Supposedly the loop has been going on for so long, class zero lost their humanity a long time ago due to all the trauma they experienced.

You’d be surprised or maybe you wouldn’t be surprised how many people will just blindly agree with the opinion of someone they like and take their description of it as facts that it’s bad. These people don’t think for themselves.
Meanwhile you have a bunch of people that hate DragonBall GT…who never watched it. Point proven.

Halo has a much higher death count, not including the flood killing off most of the Galaxy in early forunner time the Covenant have "glassed" (wiped out) mutiple human planets. Not to mention the Galaxy was completely wiped out in the forunner era and only continued because they cared about life enough to preserve the DNA of all living creatures and restart them

What is the better platform for this game PS4 or PC? It looks interesting I might buy it if I can get it cheap. Always was annoyed at the lack of blood in FF games, and JRPG's in general. FF Brave Exvius has a bunch of playable characters from this game. I have Seven, Nine, Eight, King, Cinque, and Sice. Really wish I had Ace cuz he kicks ass, Rem is pretty good too wouldn't be upset if I pulled her.

Type-0 was a step in the right direction, but due to being a PSP port, had underwhelming graphics, mechanics, voice acting, and story length. Fix all of those and make it PS4 exclusive and then we have something interesting and original.

wiseguy240 Winston I also disagree that he had to take 8.000000 to the 600 millionth. I mean sure the people on orience did get revived and all but theres some kind of philosphy in it. If you kill someone and he gets revived, did you really kill him? Death is supposed to mean an end to existence, but technically the killed dude still exist and is alive,so does this death count? If I had to say I'd say no. Sure you harmed the guy but when he gets revived your kill doesnt matter anymore. You just happen to harm the guy so much that he had a temporary death. But again theres no clear answer,I'll stop right there because I love philosophy and wouldnt be able to stop talking XD
