There is usually a plastic bleed screw or a small hole in one of the hard lines near heater core on Audi's of that era up to the C5 Audi A6. My 1993 V8, 1993 90, 1987 5000tq and a friends 1995 S6 all have something of that nature to allow air to escape from the highest point in the cooling system. The plastic bleedscrew is obvious but the other style which is a hole in the heater core hard line is simply uncovered and resealed by sliding one of the heater core hoses down to uncover the bleed hole. Once you get a clear stream of coolant slide the hose up and tighten the hose clamp.

As far as I remember, Audi build less AAE than AAN (S4), so you can look down (or more like from behind) on those everywhere S4 driver ;-)

Would recommend Dimitri to upgrade the alternator with higher amperage, subs take alot of power & its great for long term anyways.
Another thing, the ghetto way to do it is to drill a small hole in the thermostat itself, saves time during bleeding

Hey, for the termostat to check if it works, put it in a catle boil some watter up and see if it klicks. For bleeding the system try to move front of the car up atleast by 50 cm, it gonna help all air to flow to the highest place and come out. I had the same problem with my bmw e30.
PS in which city do you live. I moved to Belgium not long ago, i m searching budys to ride with :) Pss say to Dymitri that i give 7 squating gopniks for his car. Mybe he will understand :D

I usually manage to get most of the air out by repeatedly squeezing the larger coolant hoses. You can also feel if the hoses have coolant in them and if the thermostat has opened. It can be tricky, ive had the same problem happen before. I drive a '92 Audi 100. I have owned a '84 100 Avant and a '85 Coupe GT. Worked on all of them myself.

    Multiple things as tips:
    1. The power cable for the sub is a bit small if it really is a 1200w system
    2. Try to refrain from having ur power cable and signal cable right next to each other
    3. If the system has a problem with bleeding, try to drill a small hole (or 2) into the thermostat. I do that if they don't come from factory like that

Hey guys, great content, always a pleasure to watch you. For bleeding, you should try to close that expansion tank. Pressure will build up, increase the temperature at which the coolant will boil (that's what's pressure cooker are all about ;) ). AND, the pressure will help you reducing the volume of the air bubbles !
Good luck from a French neighbour !

I have the south american version of the 8v, the AP, and to bleed the coolant circuit i just let the water boil with the cap open until the fan starts, of course a lot of coolant pours out but it gets the job done. I also check that the heater core circuit valve it's open, so no air bubbles there to screw the job. I just did it this month when doing a full coolant flush and casually my thermostat stay open lol, so got to the job again.

I think the problem on cooling system might be a cracked head garniture, because of preasure in your system, maybe a bloked front radiator.
The tool that you use is for filling coolant system, the process works like that:
    1.drain maximum liquid.
    2.install all pipes.
    3.make vacuum for 15 min.
4.check vacuum leak for 1 min by closing air valve on tool.
If vacuum is ok the indicator stay on might be on red or at the end of indicator.
If it is a leak the indiacator move.
If it is all ok fill the system and remember how much liquid do you flooded.
After this star the car and let it work on idle with heating on and time by time hit the gas pedal till 2000 rpm,and wait until it runs a working temperature.
When the car will be cold maybe next day, check the level.
P.s Sorry for my English, regards from Moldova.

When you pull it under vacuum, you’re shooting for 30inHg - that’s perfect vacuum. But most times you’ll get you 25-26 and that’s perfect. You guys, just looking at the gauge what I could see, only had about 15inHg pulled so you left a huge pocket in there. Another good way to bleed things, if you can’t get the pocket out is get a coolant pressure tester and put about 5PSI in the system. Then crack open the bleed screw. Keep doing that until all the bubbles are gone and it’s straight coolant coming out. I had to do a thermostat on a Vagon once and even drawing a vacuum did nothing because of how long the hoses were. So I had to keep putting it under pressure and force the air out manually. Love the vids.

When vacuum-filling the cooling system, you need to suck out more vacuum, looks like the gauge is showing a third? I would say probably more like half, close to the yellow mark. And another tip is to drill a small hole in the thermostat and position the thermostat so that the hole is in 12'o clock. And be careful putting pressure into the intake with the engine off. Open the oil stick or oil filler cap before introducing pressure. Otherwise, if you put to much pressure, you can blow out the main seals as you pressurize the crankcase.

I had the exact same problem with my old 100 2.6e. Took about six hours before it finally burped up the last air bubble. But unlike you guys, I had to take apart the whole engine to change the thermostat😂

Bleeding a cooling system can sometimes be a pain in the ass. Sometimes you have to pull the front of the car up, sometimes the rear. Boiling during bledding is normal to some extent.

I'm late to the coolant-bleeding party and I dunno if it is already said, but you've got to crank cabin heater all the way to max to enable the coolant (and trapped air) flow. Also there may be a bleeding nipple, though VAG engineers might have it omitted (there're many bone-headed dudes at VAG)

You could have saved yourself alot of trouble by drilling a small hole in the thermostat to ease the bleeding..Great vids btw this is the first time I comment on one of your videos even though I'm an old fan. Keep it up.
