These young guys rescuing a beautiful Volvo instead of buying it to destroy by "blowing the engine" or "smash it to a wall" ... There are millions of videos destroing old cars and i think that people are mental sick and when they grow old i wish they have the same treatment and destiny. This vídeo is the opposite. A group of friends working together to realize something good... My sincere congratulations. From Portugal.

I had the very same interior - trim, seats, colour and material - on my '86 240GL. In my opinion, those seats and the covering are the best that Volvo ever produced. The BASF Glasurit paint used on this vehicle is about the best paint out there. Because of the high quality products that Volvo used on this vehicle it is no surprise that Greta cleaned up as well as she did! I'm really looking forward to seeing your restoration go forward on this beautiful 240GL Diesel.

Having been looking after my Arthur for 31 years, the paint is not a surprise at all. Arthur is washed spring and fall with dish detergent, then waxed with Mother's California Gold paste wax and buffed by hand. Comes out like new every time, in spite of living outdoors in all weathers and being driven in all conditions. Experience has taught us that with good winter tires, these will plow through snow as long as it does not exceed the height of the hood! I am really looking forward to more about Greta. One note. The pads on the headrests were a dealer accessory and were available to match all the various interiors, whether cloth, vinyl, or leather, and in all the available colours of upholstery. Hand on to them, as they are hard to find. I have been sort of looking for them in blue for years, and never catch sight of them this side of the Atlantic.

I love this thing. It's so cool! I'd love to see this become a "restored rally tow rig", meaning that it would be brought back to it's glory, but it would get some small rally mods like mudflaps and different tires on those totally rad factory OEM wheels, and a few tasteful mods to the diesel for some more power + torque for cruising and towing. This thing will rock in any direction you take it, but that's what I'd personally love to see.

My father owned the same car for 23 years and never washed it. The right side was completely green, same for the roof but the left side was like it was brand spanking new. Last time it needed a big repair and he didnt want to spend any more money on it so bought a new one. His old car got repaired by the dealership (he had a nice trade-in) and now they have his old car as a "youngtimer" as the paint was pretty good preserved since it was never washed or taken care off.

I’ve never seen a Volvo with it’s own ecosystem before! Really satisfying to see what lay beneath all that green fuzz. I can’t imagine many other brands would fair so well after sitting in a forest for 10 years.

I have to admit that this car caught my eye. I owned a couple of these over the years, the first being a 1976 245 DL wagon and I am from Michigan USA. Let's just say the winter months and salt are not to friendly here. With this being said the wagon was green and rusty, but what a trusty. This wagon was a die hard little tank. She did me well during my college years and still ran long after I sold her. This is a great car u picked up, can't wait to see what you got in store for it!!!

I too agree, there are so many old things that just get tossed and discarded, but are way cooler once restored. I once had a 265GL wagon but it was gas rather than diesel. Loved the car but had so many mechanical issues, I had to part with it. I also had a 165 wagon as well; loved that one too, until it got hit by another car. I feel these old Volvo wagons are still great cars, and a best first-time car for any young teen kid today. No, it is not a hotrod, but it is safe. And it will allow then to appreciate the value learning to drive and of working on a car long before investing in a pricier car later. Regarding power washing the hood; I feel you should have done it anyway. The fact of the matter is, the hood will need to be repainted anyway, and any delamination already existing will need to be stripped. So, by power washing the hood, you're saving yourselves some time; its all got to come off anyway.

Nice work gentlemen. I had one of these that I bought new in 1989. I drove that car for 28 years in western New York until the unibody rusted to the point I could not get in inspected. I know most every inch of this car and it was a good one. Good luck getting this one going. BTW, mine was a standard too.
