    Dear Ghosts,
I’ve been dying to shoot more with my cinema lens but I decided to shoot nearly this entire video with the 23mm f1.4 LM. The image quality is not as cinematic but 23mm is versatile for any scene and AF is necessary when filming and acting yourself (killer is me). This lens performed admirably and most shots are nice and clean (before compression) particularly at 1.4 but you won’t always have that luxury. You can decide for yourself, I pushed this lens' image - is this the look you want to achieve? In some ways I like using gear like this, because it’s something that everyone has access to. I believe in accessibility - like a standardized test, you can actually compare your work with others working with the same lens and camera.
So if you haven’t guessed this short is heavily inspired by David Fincher. Thriller is one of my favorite genres and I wanted to see how much I could push myself. His signature look is accomplished through avoiding pink tones in skin so I subtracted red and blue to create this green tint. I also decided to shoot in daytime sun, which is something I rarely do because shooting in the day feels more unpredictable, very fitting for this thriller style plot. One way this will feel different compared to other projects of mine is I focused more on objects and other parts of the body. Directing your focus is a very important aspect of immersion. For example if someone were to put hold you at gunpoint, I don’t think you would be pay attention to their face very much, you’d focus on their gun. Audio is still low quality while I figure things out so I purposely limited dialogue. This hopefully allows ghosts to focus more on background noises adding to some immersion and suspense. The man practicing his instrument in the background was a good touch. The idea that if you’re begging for help and no one will come to your aid despite being so close is true dread, just like those dreams where you can’t punch or run from a monster.
Chili had to return to her studies and some scenes and pacing are a bit too fast, we basically had 3 hours but it was still smooth because I had already planned it in my head. Limits bring forth creativity. Regarding music, I just use the music I made for the last video as I originally wanted to combine the review with this film but I ran out of time so I guess this is part 2 of the 23mm f1.4 LM lens review.
    REVIEW:
Sharp, clean and modern. I shot at f8, 5.6, 2.8 then 1.4. I don’t think it will flatter skin especially for female subjects, maybe at f1.4, it should do just fine for men or like in this video, more aggressive and dramatic styles. You might want to consider changing your typical contrast levels as a result. The AF actually surprised me, it knew what I wanted to do even with no one behind the camera if I set the AF box correctly, bouncing in and out. It’s a super clean high quality image, but you'll have to rely on your color grading, which I guess most people will not have the confidence for.
I will only recommend the f2 for consumers and the LM only if you’re making money with the lens OR if you intend on it being your ONLY lens. If you have ANY other lenses like the 18, 16 or 33 the 23mm f2 is enough. The 23mm is like a swiss army knife, but you may not need its versatility if you already have a great screwdriver and knife. Therefore this lens is great for photos and travel and it’s a big jump in pro quality. It boils down to this - if I were to pay you to shoot my wedding or commercial I wouldn’t want you to use the f2 version, I’d want the f1.4. If you can get it below retail I still wouldn’t recommend it for the smaller cameras like xt3, the xh line is perfect or maybe xt5 since it’s 40mp. It's ideal for AF, vlogging, talking head, commercial work. It’s a conundrum, I spent one week flip flopping if I would return this lens decided to keep it for travel and the AF.
    Spend wisely,
    Love,
    CGC

The amount of work you put in your videos is incredible. I hope you achieve your dreams.
I've used both f1.4 (original) and f2 on the Fuji X-T4 and even though when looking casually you can't notice the difference but f1.4 has less color shift and less aberration than f2. But, sharpness is better in f2.
    P.S 1: I'm an astrophotographer (hobby) and I personally use the Viltrox 13mm f1.4 or Samyang 12mm f2.
P.S 2: I was wondering what the dissection set was for in the previous video.

To be honest the work is in planning and research. Scouting an area with good lighting, buying props, and researching relevant material. I obviously lose money making these videos but it’s still worth it to me. This video was supposed to be part of the previous review but I ran out of time. Sharp tools *wink*

For this one I used the free film luts in davinci resolve as a base. I think it is Kodak D65 but can’t remember the number

I used a IBIS for handheld with some stabilization. Other shots I used tripod or monopod
