from Israel, Happy Anniversary - Paul Smith Barton. I'm a proud owner of a full 7.1 PSB system (main - GOLDi center double side and back speakers) for the last 25 years. I think i have changed every component of my audio gear, sometimes more than once - excluding the speakers, and not that i haven't looked for..... thanks for the joy and happiness for so many years.

Happy owner of a pair of PSB Image T6 Tower for more than 10 years. The Imagine line was out of my budget, but I am very happy with my Image T6 speakers :)

Bravo PSB and Lenbrook for an enlightening and honest portrayal of your products and how they came to be. And, bravo Paul for, many years ago, recognizing the value of my NRC research in designing loudspeakers aiming for neutral, accurate, reproduction of recorded sounds. In the beginning, as the documentary explains, most loudspeakers had "personalities" that altered the recorded artistry. After all the years that have passed, there is still evidence of this illogical behavior. So, congratulations on 50 years of taking sound reproduction seriously and delivering affordable products that sound good. Well done! It is reassuring to hear that the tradition will continue.

Nice video. I met Paul at an audio shop in New Brunswick Canada around the mid 1990's. He would tour around visiting the dealers. I was very young then. We talked for a while. He was curious about what I liked about audio equipment, and what I owned and why. Very nice guy. When he left the store manager asked if I knew who he was. I didn't. I thought he was a distributes. He was so much more... To meet him again I would have so many questions :) My brother bought a set of Stratus Golds when we were teenagers, or very early 20's. Years later I bought a set also. I still use them :) I have had them for over 25 years, along with PSB C6 center channel, and PSB Stratus mini speakers as surrounds. They match great with my Bryston SP2 and 3B-ST amp. My brother has owned his PSB Stratus Golds for about 30 years. He has the first version in Golden Oak with the red bands below the tops and above the stands. His speaker connectors are on the bottom of the base like my older PSB180's. You have to lay the speakers on the side or face to get to the speaker wire. I'm curious about the newer PSB flagship speakers. However, I am still just as happy with my Stratus Golds as ever.

Paul Barton, the father of Canadian loudspeaker manufacturing. Along with his wife Sue forming the excellent speaker manufacturing company PSB Speakers. These products, from the very lowest cost item to the most expensive are themselves musical instruments.
At one time PSB speakers were used in Canadian Broadcasting Corp. studios as reference monitors. Their low cost combined with technically near-perfect, distortion-free design made them ideal in CBC studios and control rooms. I have what I think is a discerning ear but I cannot afford the "marketplace best" but why would I want that when I can afford PSB speakers. Excellent value, superb performance - you'll be impressed!

I still own a pair of the New Stratus Mini. I use them for surround speakers. Every once in a while I hook them up as main speakers and put my Stratus Golds as surrounds. Great sounding speakers.

I am a VERY proud owner of a pair of CustomSoundseries CW262 in-wall speakers that I purchased from Crutchfield in 2015 when I needed to replace the "Just OK in wall speakers my builder provided when I optioned for my whole home sound system in my large Great Room. They are wonderful speakers and it is sad that PSB chose to eliminate this product line. Fortunately, I am the beneficiary of their delving into this space long enough to get one pair. My use is not for Home Theater, but for whole home audio for the same sound throughout my home whether it is XM streaming, my Music Library broadcast or even Sporting events to stream team radio feeds vs. the hideous "Not Worth Listening too ESPN or other national TV commentary" ! (Sorry, Off Topic) PSB makes excellent products that are worth the cost to own and I am honored to own a pair that is no longer in their product line! Keep up the good work Paul and I'm sorry that I only own a single par of your fine products!

Congratulations Paul and everybody at PSB. Great documentary to celebrate 50 years. Proud owner of a PSB M4U 2 pair of headphones. Being in Chile, it’s not easy to get PSB products. I always wanted to hear and was very interested in the Imagine speakers. Seems they are some amazing speakers. Hope to continue seeing (and hearing) your products in the years to come.

What a treat to experience 50 years of rich Canadian research, innovation and identity. Unlike the Avro Arrow in aviation, Seagram in the distillery business or Blackberry and Nortel in telecommunications, PSB never missed a beat thanks to Lenbrook. I grew up in Bay Ridges (Pickering) in the 60's where Lenbrook Headquarters and PSB eventually landed. I went to the Univesity of Waterloo (UW) in the late 70's, home of PSB's start in nearby St. Jacobs. I have fond memories of investing in PSB speakers during my time as a student at UW. At this documentary's core, we have a lesson in Live Music driving Science, driving Sound, driving PSB's high-end audio products. This is how all audio products should be developed and evolve. As Paul says, it is about experiencing music not listening to music. Thank You Paul Barton and Lenbrook.

Let’s not forget the other brand known as Mirage speakers, which were a delight to own. I had the omnipolar series and have since handed them down to my daughter.
They just filled a room with sound.
I have owned PSB’s among others, and the sound always made me feel proud to show them off.

I bought the Passif 1’s in 1979 in Kitchener. Still have them to this day and they still sound great! I bought the PSB headphones thinking they would also be of the same quality, they lasted one year and I can’t use them. What a shame!

Love my PSB speakers and really enjoyed the documentary. I absolutely loved that the brand was made in Canada. So I was real sad to hear you offloaded manufacturing to China. Looks like i'll have to keep an eye out for vintage PSB speakers. I love my old 600's and Century 600i's I guess it wouldn't hurt to add a couple more.

too bad this excellent docu nor Paul Barton didn't even mention the Platinum series, which came out after the Stratus (Gold) series, and which was PsB's most expensive series ever made. I've read many excellent reviews about them, especially the M2 and the T6. In the future if one pair of Psb Platinum T6 will be on the Canadian used martket, for sur I will buy one pair!

I would like to hear a pair of the Platinum T6 speakers, Synchrony, and Imagine T3 against my Stratus Golds. If you have never owned the PSB Stratus Golds you should. They will knock your socks off if paired with Bryston gear or any high quality gear. My brother bought the Stratus Golds in the mid 90's and also a Nad 2600a power amp and Nad top of the line pre-amp. The Golds are truly exceptional speakers.

I proudly own now since this this summer a stunning pair of Psb T8 platinum !!!! Amazing high end speakers !!!
I've never heard the very new Psb (new) Synchrony T800 but I do not doubt my T8 Platinum, especially because in has the, unique for PsB ever made, MTM configuration, would perform very well against the T800!

Me too. I have had mine for over 20 years. My brother has had his for about 30. His are the original design. They sound very slightly different from mine. But of course all speakers sound slightly different. When he bought his, you bought the speakers you were listening to. Just like
it should be in a high end audio store.

Yeah, too bad They didn,t hit the market as PSB wished it had... i have the same feeling with the Paradigm Persona series. Awesome speakers but too expensive for many, and also way more high end than the rest of the brand, so people hesitate to buy such really high end (no cost limit for production) speakers.

As good as the speakers are, and I've had mine for some 25 years, the headphones were adequate sound and extremely poor quality mistakes! They simply fall apart. I see PSB producing a new headphone ( upmarket at over $ 750 US ) and hopefully better buit.
