I had wanted to put out a video or two of more regular content while away, for those that aren't so keen on the boat videos. I actually had hoped to work on the cedar slab but i just couldn’t make it happen. So, the content is a bit mixed up for this month - some will be ok with this, others not. But it's impossible to please everyone 🤷🏻‍♀️.
This is footage from the few weeks preceding our departure for Taiwan, so it's really a Michymash of events. Poor Lenny had his eye removed just a few days before we left the country, which was a bit of a challenge in the mix of everything, but he is all healed up now and doing well. Animals are amazing. 💕 (newest update on his eye - it was sent to histopathology and a final diagnosis was made: Lenny had a benign tumour in his eye which is what caused the extremely high pressure and no matter what, his eye needed to be removed).
I am really struggling, or feel like I am struggling with the cliff cabin lately. I really have to refrain from complaining because it's such a trivial detail in life, but I am really just feeling like I'm spinning my wheels lately with it. I wasn't able to complete all of the tasks I had set out to complete before leaving for Taiwan, and while that is disappointing for me, I just have to accept it. I think (I hope) that once I'm back, I will do my best to get out there and spend more than one night out there which will allow me to get more done at one time. But of course, being that I am the main caretaker in the family, I can really only get out there when it works for the rest of the family as Steve works full time.
Thanks for watching my lovely and supportive friends. I write this as I am sitting in the saloon of the boat moored in Yonabaru Marina, Japan, and we are about to start our journey north tomorrow!
Much love to you all, and see you in the next video 💝
    M 💕

I dont only view your channel for your off grid cabin on the cliff but I watch your channel for your dogs. They truly give your channel the heart and you are correct animals are resilient . My wife brought in a stray cat and Im not really a cat person and this cat did a Peter Pan out of our upstairs bedroom window when he pushed on the screen. His left hind leg was barely hanging on by its skin because the bones were shattered. I knew what the vet was going to find and and as I saw the Xray I said just amputate it. Even though this emergency vet said it would be $3000 I paid it. My wife thoroughly thought I had the cat put down but as young as the cat was the animal lover I am decided to give him another life which included one less leg and coped immediately without that hind leg. Love your dogs sorry to hear he lost his eye but I think that look he gives you is thanks for not putting me down.

Hay Michelle! When you tackle the old dock with the larger grinder, some safety tips to consider: 1. Wear a full face shield the covers your neck, as well. 2. Wear eye protection, over and above the face shield. 3. When cutting, have the rotation of the blade not only going away from you, but in an angular direction away from you. 4. Wear your chainsaw chaps while cutting. 5. Wear high quality leather gloves. Why all these tips? If the cut-off-disk fractures and explodes while cutting - you could be gravely harmed or killed. If the disk cuts your carotid artery, you'll bleed out in just a few minutes. PS: Never stand directly behind the disk while it's cutting. If it kicks back - you're going to have a really bad day. Hay, again. Love your cabin build series and glad Lenny is on the mend. Have a great sea adventure, as you move the boat from port-to-port. Praying for the safety of all on board. Lee

You and Steve are such great parents to all of your four-legged "children"!
One idea for content while you're away is to show a montage of some of the characters you've portrayed in past videos. Like, Sean The Building Inspector and everyone's favorite, Foxy Roxy The Reporter, and all the other characters and costumes that we've enjoyed in your past videos. Could there possibly be a "Captain Michy" character in the future??

Oh boy now my experience with stove pipe is , it’s a two person job !
Above the roof I’ve seen bracing rods ( pipe support in the wind )
But guylines (cable ) seems pretty common as long as you can anchor the guylines to something solid !
I used turn buckles one time and they worked good ( I-bolts in the cable 3/16” ends ) it was okay, it
supports the pipe in the wind !
Not the best thing I’ve done but it worked !
I admit the bracing rods look more professional but getting them to fit was , well let’s say I learned some new language!

Sadly the property is no longer in the family, the house was badly deteriorated, and appears some crack head was living there the last time I was by. So sad. Hello Michy ,thanks for the update on Lenny, that pupper is a trooper, but you and Steve have given him the best home he could have!
As for the chimney, the pipe will need too go in first, and the next part is a little bit more tricky. Because you are going too need too tilt the stove and pull the pipe forward and work the too together.
Or loosen the whole assembly and cut the sealant on the roof flange, and take off everything that holds it in place so it will slide up enough too allow the stove pipe to be lifted and set on the stove. Neither is going to be easy.
Shortening those brace to hold the flue is the easiest solution, it will keep it in place during heavy snow loads the would build up before sliding off the roof.
The piece you made is called a saddle, or a cricket, to divert water ,and snow from work it's way down the flue. Cut it to fit closer around the pipe, use a good amount of sealant, and just enough screws to hold it in place.
Also if you have a Sawzall get a long bi-metal blade and use that to cut those bolts loose to get those beams loose. Or an impact wrench and unscrew them.
Anyway have a safe trip coming coming back. Have a good time and God bless amen.
Ps good to hear the dogs are okay in Gaza. Once Hamas is removed, the Palestinian people will get a new government body, and Israel will police the area, while it is being restored.

Michy, that metal piece you are trying to put around the stack on the roof, would be called a cricket. At least that is what they are called around here.

That little roof over the boot is called a cricket in the northeastern U.S. and I have one behind my brick chimney as a snow break. Would probably help you also.

Since you cannot use the wood stove, could you have just slid the chimney pipe down to leave a small portion above the roof? You could then wrap the top with a plastic bag to keep the rain and snow from filling it. Plastic bags and duct tape are modern day miracles, you know! Hope you are enjoying yourself in Japan!

Glad Lenny is healing from his surgery. Lots of works to prep for winter in colder locations. Love your videos about the boat trials and sights of the world. Thanks for showing all the machine and location prep you both have to do. Cheers.

Maybe cut out a semicircular matched circumference of your Snow deflector on its little ridge so it marries up to the smoke pipe. That might help. Keep smiling.🇮🇱

Surprisingly you make even your ads (bluetti) worth watching !
Don't struggle with your projects. As long as you have fun it doesn't matter how long it takes. And if sometimes you loose the fun, wait 'till it comes back.
Have a nice sailing trip ! And hug the dogs for me when you return back home !

The poor guy was in tremendous pain. I added in the description the update for his eye - it was sent away to histopathology and it was determined that he had a tumour in his eye which was causing the problem. No matter what the eye needed to come out. All the corneal scratches must have all been from his previous life (there were a lot on both eyes).

    Dear Misses Michelle.
👍👌👏 You struggle? 😁 That's a really good joke, Ma'am! You are the perfect female version of a stand up man toy. You always bounce back. Some jobs simply can't be done alone. 2) While watching this video I instantly thought: I wanna be a dog in this couples house! 💚 You two treat your animals extremely well. By the way: Great to see that Lenny is not in pain any longer.
Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and especially health to all involved life forms (humans, animals and plants).
