Houston chase ends after deadly shootout in the middle of freeway

- A Houston police officer is recovering in the hospital and a suspected carjacker is dead after a chase ended in a shootout in the middle of a Southwest Freeway near the Chimney Rock exit. Police say they spotted a vehicle that was taken from a carjacking on Friday and got behind the driver who tried to make a run for it.

Accidents happen to even the most well trained officer. Please refrain from turning blame on the officer to prove your point with speculation. Unless you have an all seeing eye, you have no idea how that scene could have gone. If you want to prove a point that the hijacker would have done better at trial, try by saying “in the end no matter how this had turned out taxpayers still get hit with the expense.

May I respectfully say, John didn't have 'trouble with law enforcement'. He had trouble doing the right thing. Integrity is a sign of character. John's integrity shined this day! 1) Attempting to make it to work on time. 2) Stepping into the line of fire to pull an injured officer out of harms' way. 3) Remaining calm in a most dire of situations.
Kudos to HPD and Mr. John! May Officer John have a full and complete recovery. Prayers for the family of the perp. 🙏❤

Are there red big cities? I thought Houston was one of the redder ones considering the split in their votes going to Abbott this past election. Crime happens more in areas where the population is more dense, it just makes logical sense. More people per capita = more criminals per capita even if the ratio of criminals to law abiding citizens is lower. Therefore, crime is not entirely a geopolitical thing, but a socioeconomic thing, that cannot be summarized by something as simple as “oh, blue city”. Of course, the nuance will be skewed and misinterpreted by the other side too and they’re just going to blame this on guns again. Sad to see bipartisanism create an endless loop of finger pointing and virtue signaling that has replaced unbiased, non-partisan research and contextual reasoning

My hat is off to the civilian who has rose above his past mistakes and lives a better life, as well as the officers. I am truly happy this perp did not make it.
