Can't believe all the joy he left to us!
Doesn’t get any better than this when Emmy leaves us she can be singing in heaven With gram again pray for gram always
🦅 Thank You
Emmy has done millions of duets. All of them awesome, but the ones with Gram are a whole different level.. Unbelievable how they sang as one.
Pure heart and soul 💖 Lou and Emmy
Matt and Rockgirl, I so agree. Emmylou is my favorite female singer.
Great song great poetry singing out of this world
Gram was truly one of a kind and with Emmy Lou they are dynamic
Yes they were😊
Love this. My late husband used to sing this for me bc I loved it so much.
Emmy's voice fits Gram's like a glove. Both brilliant. God Awful beautiful.
I’ve been watching all of Grams vids and have noticed all the hats he wears, so cute😊😊❤
Most of his snapshots feature one hat or another, he has quite an array.
He was a bigger influence on 20th century music than most people realize. A true trailblazer. And we forever owe him for helping Emmylou get her great start doing country music fused with other styles of music such as folk, rock, gospel, bluegrass, etc. And he did all this in only such a few years. In a way kind of like Jimi Hendrix and what he did to influence rock music, blues rock, and electric guitar playing. Two lives cut short so needlessly.
So true but these clowns today do not deserve to tread the same earth as gram and Hendrix two towering artistic geniuses
Amazing! Emmylou Harris and Gram Parsons! Simply Amazing!!!
Emmylou is in my opinion the greatest female vocalist of all time. Since Gram died she has done duets with nearly every male country star. They are all excellent. However, the magic she shared with Gram was never duplicated. Angels rejoiced is one of their best.
Not sure I would say "greatest" but I love her music. Listening to her songs turned me on to country, and what I view as real country, music. From there I was drawn to learn more about Gram and listen to his music.
Emmy and Ronstadt too 💖🎶
Absolutely
Opinions are like A-Holes, everybody has one. Nicolette Larson , Linda Ronstadt, Sarah Patrick, Patty Loveless, Anita Carter, Stevie Nicks, all great singers!
@@dannyirvine4262 yes but my opinion Emmylou is the best. That is why I said my opinion!
Gone too soon.
Never forgotten.
R.I.P. Gram.
Very beautiful!!
I love that last shot of the two of them. Emmylou is absolutely stunning. The song? Words fail me. ❤
One of my two favorite gram songs the other is another great Lou in brothers gem check out gram singing the Christian life with the Byrd’s live at the piper club in Rome Italy he slows it down from the version on sweetheart of the rodeo sung almost like a Gregorian chant fitting considering the location so beautiful so powerful the genius of gram parsons you don’t miss your water and hickory wind also stunning from that concert should have said Lou in brothers
Gram was a top of the line one of a kind artist!
Emmylou's harmonies curl perfectly with Grams.
Just “❤️” ....so much heart n soul. I miss those times so much. ✌️
She compliments his voice to perfection cant believe he's gone at 26 so young so much more to do.
I first heard Emmylou when she was still with Gram, in a live simulcast on WLIR, Long Island (where I later worked a bit) and also on Gram’s solo albums, when I was a radio DJ in college. Speaking as a musician, I think she sounded better on these early duets because she was still in the “passenger seat” at this point and looking to excel and impress Gram. After he passed, she was signed and had to front her own band a be in the “drivers seat.” Yes, she also shined there but I think it was never as in the embryonic stage, where she wanted to show Gram just what she could do. That was just one of those fateful crossing of paths that was pure magic.
Gram not only should be in the Country Hall of fame, but the Rock Hall of fame........he is one of a kind, an the father of country rock!!! Luv ya Gram!!! :)
I read somewhere that this was her favorite recording that she ever did with Gram Parsons. It's a great one.
One of the greatest duets of all time!
For mom and dad, together again. 💖
Gram and Emmylou brilliant as usual
OK YES Parsons did have some songs that were Country/Rock but he was Belting out a ton of Country Songs.... Pure Country
Exactly, I don't even think of him as country rock.
He didn't like the label country-rock. He called what he did Cosmic American. I like his label best.
Thank God for recordings. But not the drugs that killed Gram.
Pray for gram always
I love this song and they do it very well. Almost as well as the Church Sisters. Emmylou is still the greatest voice in country music today.
If this song is on an album, I have not seen it. Such a beautiful duet.
It's on Sleepless Nights, which came out in 1976 after Gram's death. It's a mixture of previously unreleased songs, some done with the Burritos and some with Emmylou. Very, very good IMHO.
@@margaretross9150 Thank you. I will look for it.
A real tear jerker. Salutations to a great song master & mistress !
She was not his mistress...
@@terriqueen3315 A female Song Master is, presumably a "Song Mistress".
@@petesquire2954 Exactly!
@@petesquire2954 Oh sorry dufuss me lol...
Beautuful harmonies!
When hearing these duets I always wonder if Gram had any idea at all just what a success Emmy would be. And would she have been discovered without him. Surely so, but he's the one who set her out on her road to a career she has loved.
Gram was Emmy's mentor.... there relationship together she has never talked about... it must have been very special!! :)
In light of Grams turbulent home life, untimely death of his parents, and reaction by drowning out his misery in drugs, I would be pretty shocked if Gram didn't have some sort of sense that his time would come soon. But I doubt he felt that way about Emmylou. Everything he left behind is now so treasured, but Gram himself, sadly, was a ticking time-bomb. It's mind boggling to me that his music was as great as it was, but nearly every musical avenue he pursued was quickly halted by his addiction.
She has talked about him in interviews . Shconsidered herself strictly a folk singer before singing with him so in that way he did have a tremendous influence on her. They also became very close. Emmy was so distraugtafter his deatht it took quite awhile before she could focus on music or anything.
@@pattivanlandingham2951 and then she wrote "Boulder to Birmingham" ...
Yes, he knew. He told her that her harmony note at the end of Love Hurts was going to make her famous. He had made up his mind. You can hear it in some of his other lyrics. They (Gram & Emmylou) were going to hit the big time and do it together in every sense of the word. There in laid the problem. There were those determined to not allow that to happen regardless of the cost.
Wow! Love Grahm and all he represents. He did it before anyone in rock but my good God Emmy sounds like one of the angels rejoicing. Who hasen't coveted her voice for a duet
If you were never religious before, this song will turn you. The harmonies are epic.
Yes and such great lyrics I never seen my daddy inside the house of god for satan held his hand down the path of sin he trod
one of the best songs ever
angelic voice on paradise, not on earth
Can it get better that this ? No. EmmyLou's harmony is truly angelic.
Love this music ...
This is a very spiritual song very down home
Epic.
oh i love this!!!!! woowowowwww
Thanks very pure song for world. I believe your soul.
love it.
honestly, thank you💟💗

Oh man, Grams vocals are so fragile here yet so powerful! Hed be dead shortly after this recording.
"fragile" yet "poweruful" Couldn't have said it better. ✌
Angelico...
🎼🎶⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Nice upload
What is that artwork of Gram and Emmylou in the middle of this slideshow? How do I get that? I want that and need that now! :D
There was a song by Ingram Conner called Fact of the Matter. It was played in Dahlonague Ga.
Never heard that before...details please :)
@@jojoheartspaypay The record was lost years ago. It went: and when you stop and think about the fact of the matter, I don't think that I'd go back even if I could. Wish I could remember his bands name was one red labeled record.
I love the melody and the voices and that really speaks to me, however I’m far from religious and have no affinity with religion so it’s a bit conflicting whenever I listen to this. 😋 It speaks to me musically but not lyrically, does that make sense?
Yes, it does. Religion has produced great music and art for millennia, and we can appreciate its beauty without following all of its teachings.
Tq
why would he belong in the country music hall of fame anymore than roy buchanan would or danny gatton?they played everything from the heart. stop trying to put them in a box. they would have hated it really they played world music........................
Doesn't sound like world music to me !! But maybe that genre wasn't that well known then
