Hey Ninebar, sadly just like a data connection on a smartphone, they do cost and some of that cost is from the mobile phone networks to get the data to the car. But if you do have Smartphone Integration in your Mercedes, you could make use of Apple CarPlay &/or Android Auto 🤓 These offer free Live Traffic 👀

Hi Nick, Enjoyed the video. I renewed mine at 3yrs even though Google maps is better IMHO because of the other extras you get like traffic light recognition. Also on mine I have to pay a fortune to add Google Maps as mine 2018 A200. I love the car even with a lot of electrical problems, back to Brooklands again Tuesday, Climate control sensor fan screaming at me on starting….🙄 Why do the filters keep blocking already had the overhead one replaced yes I bought extended warranty luckily….

Lately, I’ve been finding my GPS givingb rerouting information too late to use (just passing the needed exit…) I understand that the U.S. Military induces GPS accuracy errors during times when they are targeting weapons somewhere in the world but it’s still frustrating.

And I’m just planning next week’s video! 👀 Yes if you have Augmented Reality, that will continue to work, it just means the maps won’t update or Live Traffic will feed through to the car when it expires. With Apple CarPlay / Android Auto, as long as you have these already, they don’t expire, they stay with the car.

So at a certain point i have to expect that, let's say, the air condition abonnement will expire and i have to pay if I still want it? I also have a Mazda and they don't do this kind of random: updated maps and live traffic are forever (and they actually work better)

My nav in my E class…It should say live traffic in the bottom right corner? Does it always say it? I can’t remember only it’s not showing and I just bought the package an hour ago.
Hey Jsah11, it takes up to 24 hours to appear in the car especially if it's not been for a drive. Most commonly it'll sync 20-30 mins into your next journey.
Hi Nick, not sure if you've come across this before, my w222 command sat nav, is avoiding / won't even offer toll roads, even though I have not chosen to avoid tolls in the route settings. Do you know what could be causing this ? My dealership is clueless & I've referred to MBUK who are yet to respond.
Sadly no sorry, if you’re in contact with Mercedes I’m sure they’ll be the ones who will be able to assist! I know there’s an option to toggle in the multimedia systems that I’ve seen before when checking them out but apart from that I’m not sure.
It’s different for each model of car 🤓 You’ll have to log in and see what the prices are for you. Some cars have navigation updates included with the purchase of this where some are just Live Traffic. Hope that helps clarify 🤓

There’s a couple of things, you can have radio announcements which are broadcasted generally to everyone, this is: HOME RADIO SETTINGS GENERAL Traffic Announcements For the car to announce traffic diversions when you have the Sat Nav on, if I remember it’ll be on the centre screen, press: HOME NAVIGATION SETTINGS ADVANCED ROUTE and it’ll be one of the settings in here where you can select it to always ask instead of be automatic Hope that helps!

Hey Theo, when I’ve purchased something before, it’s just a credit or debit card that you can link (I’m pretty sure it was just Mastercard or Visa) Invoices though are provided after payment etc 🤓

I live in the UK and have had from new (2014) a now 9 year old CLA with COMMAND based multi media and SatNav and Traffic. It came with 3 year Traffic subscription and I have been renewing annually via Mercedes Me since then......until today. When I try to renew in the Mercedes online shop it says: "Digital Extra package is unfortunately not available for your vehicle due to the hardware installed ex factory". The Technical Requirements are shown as: "The Navigation Package is available in all model series with the MBUX multimedia system or the COMAND Online multimedia system." - I HAVE this system so WHY is it now saying incompatible? I know Mercedes have been making changes to their digital platform but this looks like I will no longer be able to get Traffic info at all - something I have used very satisfactorily for 9 years - I wont be happy. Am I right or am I missing something? My car has always been linked to the Mercedes Me account. Anyone else experiencing this problem? It has the potential to irritate a large number of loyal Merc customers with older cars.
Hey Malcom, best thing to do is chat with Mercedes me support either on their help number or send them a message from the app. I do know the UK is switching off their 3G network (which I personally think it quite early) but this could be why. I suggest chatting to them as it could be why, just a thought

Hi Nick. I said I would report back with any progress I made on Mercedes Traffic renewal problem. I sent a message to them via the App as you suggested but never got a reply. HOWEVER I speculatively tried to renew online again (a month after my original problem) - and suprisingly it then offered renewal for my vehicle for 1 or 3 years. I took up the 3 year deal and it seems to have now extended my subscritpion for 3 years. I've not needed to use it yet but it all looks good. Cheers Malcolm
Dumb Question: I bought a 2022 S-Class in America, and I don't see the "Live Traffic" package on my profile, yet I have the Live Traffic working in my car. Is it possible that there is no subscription termination date in the USA?
Really sorry James, I wouldn’t know 😕 Live Traffic varies round the world from country to country. In the UK it runs on a service called Mercedes me. I’ve heard it’s slightly different in the USA so not entirely sure.

Hi Nick. My 2019 A class is just out of 3 year warranty. The live traffic and Sat nav has stopped working . I do not have apple car play. I appreciate I need to purchase for live traffic but should my sat nav still not work ?
Quick question, I've tried adding a device to connect android auto but it doesn't show a device to connect. It's connected via Bluetooth for calls and audio just can't get maps working. This is on a 2020 c63s
Hey Nick, it depends on your specification on your car and phone. On a 2020 C 63S (very nice by the way! 👌🏼) If you press HOME, go to CONNECT or APPS and just see if Apple CarPlay is listed there. If it isn’t then sadly it won’t be on that car.

Hey Julhaz, if you have a camera built into your windscreen then it’s used for a thing called Augmented Reality. It’s a very clever and advanced Sat Nav version with shows arrows on the screen overlayed by a live camera feed 🤓
Are you sure you have a camera? There are multiple sensors at the top of the windscreen from a rain sensor to radar and sometimes traffic sign assist (depending on the model). For these exact specifics, I’d probably suggest getting in touch with your local Mercedes who will be able to help clarify 🤓
You think by the time I’ve paid for this car which is a small fortune, it would come with live traffic included. Even as Nick says, there’s apps on your phone that do it for free. The phone I have costs 200 quid, the car I bought cost 35 grand. Go figure!
Me too. Annoyingly it took around ten minutes before the traffic information downloaded before you could see where the congestion was. Better to use Waze or google maps they’re free. The satnav isn’t great on complex junctions either. Germans don’t do electronics.
Dangerous for you and your car. Even leaving my home in Charminster Bournemouth it sends me into indirect confined spaces. Recently in Paignton Devon it sent me into the country and down a track so narrow the car hardly able to progress and no chance of reversing, had a vehicle been coming the opposite direction I would have abadoned the car. Driving along the B3052 I decided to visit Branscombe, mercedes sat nav sent me in a loop returnig to the B3052 whithout going to Branscmbe, however I did have to navigate along another country lane/track unfit for my car. As you Nick O'leary said to me when complaining a year ago, " it' not perfect". I want my money back, there are free navigation systems better than this. How do I get my money back and who's pating for the scratches.
Hey John, Live Traffic will always vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and including smartphones. If you’re having issues just contact Mercedes me support from the app and they can test it out for you.
Hey Ikra, it’s mainly for the data connection via the cellular network. Just like a phone it does cost to obtain a connection. If you do have Smartphone Integration though (Apple CarPlay or Android Auto) then you could use that. Live traffic is free on there.
Hey Peter, the whole video was a tutorial on how to do it. What part did you struggle with 🤓 I can try help but if it’s something to do with adding your car to your account in the first place, your local Mercedes will have to help 🤓
Ah okay, this just basically means as you said the Live Traffic has run out so sadly will not show any traffic on the screen. Not actually 100% sure what it means but even with the Sat Nav on, it won’t be able to factor any live traffic without a subscription. It might refer to Traffic Announcements or something on the radio but sadly nothing comes through.

Dumb Question: I bought a 2022 S-Class in America, and I don't see the "Live Traffic" package on my profile, yet I have the Live Traffic working in my car. Is it possible that there is no subscription termination date in the USA?

Live Traffic varies round the world from country to country. In the UK it runs on a service called Mercedes me. I’ve heard it’s slightly different in the USA so not entirely sure.

Hi Nick. My 2019 A class is just out of 3 year warranty. The live traffic and Sat nav has stopped working . I do not have apple car play. I appreciate I need to purchase for live traffic but should my sat nav still not work ?
Hey Neil, the maps will still work, it just won’t receive updates. You’ll still be able to navigate to places etc

Quick question, I've tried adding a device to connect android auto but it doesn't show a device to connect. It's connected via Bluetooth for calls and audio just can't get maps working. This is on a 2020 c63s

If you press HOME, go to CONNECT or APPS and just see if Apple CarPlay is listed there. If it isn’t then sadly it won’t be on that car.
@@npoleary hi, thanks for the reply. Yeah both apple car play and android auto are listed but for some reason it won't connect. Bluetooth for audio and calls is fine, I've tried all usb ports but to no avail. (Btw it's a beautiful car)

Hey Julhaz, if you have a camera built into your windscreen then it’s used for a thing called Augmented Reality.
It’s a very clever and advanced Sat Nav version with shows arrows on the screen overlayed by a live camera feed 🤓

Are you sure you have a camera?
There are multiple sensors at the top of the windscreen from a rain sensor to radar and sometimes traffic sign assist (depending on the model).

You think by the time I’ve paid for this car which is a small fortune, it would come with live traffic included. Even as Nick says, there’s apps on your phone that do it for free. The phone I have costs 200 quid, the car I bought cost 35 grand. Go figure!

Me too. Annoyingly it took around ten minutes before the traffic information downloaded before you could see where the congestion was. Better to use Waze or google maps they’re free. The satnav isn’t great on complex junctions either. Germans don’t do electronics.

Dangerous for you and your car. Even leaving my home in Charminster Bournemouth it sends me into indirect confined spaces. Recently in Paignton Devon it sent me into the country and down a track so narrow the car hardly able to progress and no chance of reversing, had a vehicle been coming the opposite direction I would have abadoned the car. Driving along the B3052 I decided to visit Branscombe, mercedes sat nav sent me in a loop returnig to the B3052 whithout going to Branscmbe, however I did have to navigate along another country lane/track unfit for my car. As you Nick O'leary said to me when complaining a year ago, " it' not perfect". I want my money back, there are free navigation systems better than this. How do I get my money back and who's pating for the scratches.
Hey John, Live Traffic will always vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and including smartphones.
If you’re having issues just contact Mercedes me support from the app and they can test it out for you.

Hey Ikra, it’s mainly for the data connection via the cellular network. Just like a phone it does cost to obtain a connection.
If you do have Smartphone Integration though (Apple CarPlay or Android Auto) then you could use that. Live traffic is free on there.

It usually needs to be plugged into a specific USB port.

Well I didn’t have access to a car that was over 3 years old. Purchasing it easy from there onwards, it’s just like buying something online 👍🏼

Did all as you said but when I scroll to traffic it still says powered by to tomtom you have no valid subscription please refer to owners manual… help

Ah okay, this just basically means as you said the Live Traffic has run out so sadly will not show any traffic on the screen.
Not actually 100% sure what it means but even with the Sat Nav on, it won’t be able to factor any live traffic without a subscription.
It might refer to Traffic Announcements or something on the radio but sadly nothing comes through.
