  • Pontiac G8 GT Dyno Before And After Gear Swap. Had a car in for a gear swap and tune so perfect time to make a video on how a rear-end gear change will make the dyno or power read differently. I also did a 3rd gear vs 4th gear pull to show how that changes things too.
    Both pulls when comparing the 2.92 to 3.45 were on the same tune.
    The 3rd gear vs 4th gear was also with the same tune.
    All pulls were done the same day within 2-3 hours from start to finish.

    Horsepower = Torque x Rotation per Minute (rpm) / 5,252
    Gears change tq output, so it makes sense

      Thanks! There's definitely better channels though. I usually just try to make videos on things people either talk about but never have data to back up their thoughts or things I've just wondered and never saw what I was looking for.

    My gmc sierra L83 used to be NA 4.10 gears and with new setup stroke mast performance 350CID single turbo kit by spike 11PSI meth injection puts down 645whp i kept 4.10 I don’t feel i need to change it, moves pretty well for roll racing also i swap rear brakes to fit 15inchs racestar wheels and MT tires, thank you for the helpful video

    Wow I wasn't expecting that. Good gains! I'm probably right in between there since my G8 has 3.27 rear end. Great video!

      I've had both 3.27s and 3.42s in my ss. Sometimes I'll swap them out when I'm bored lol

      @andrewd843 how big of a difference is the 3.27 compare to 3.42?

    • @andrewd843
      @andrewd843  8 месяцев назад +1

      @nastymk3 it's a decent difference.
      I've done 3.45s on a few different setups. Did a header only SS went from 3.27s go 3.45s, went from 3.27s to 3.45s on my supercharged SS. I try to gear cars based off what MPHs they'll trap and what tire sizes etc.

      I mean the engine doesn't technically make anymore or any less power from a gear swap but how it equates to the tire changes. Manual or auto car? 3.91s are short gears on a 6l80.

    Great videos man. Been trying to learn as much as I can. I'm pretty new to e-tunning.
    What's your opion on the Blue Line Performance Probationary cam?
    I'm looking for something that'll work well with a stock TC.
    It's the gf's car so I don't wanna swap the TC yet.

    • @andrewd843
      @andrewd843  7 месяцев назад

      Honestly, the stock converter is such a turd. A completely stock car with a converter and tune will usually be faster at the track and drive better than any aftermarket cam on the stock converter.

    Nice video this one did it to convince me to do the swap. But how is it from a dig. Can you hook. Or from a low roll

      I have 3.45s in my LSA SS, and it hooks just fine.

    Question did you swap out the complete differential or did you put 3.45 gears in the stock diff?

    • @andrewd843
      @andrewd843  8 месяцев назад

      Whole diff to the camaro 3.45 it's a stronger diff vs the stock g8 one. It bolts right in with no modification.

  • @337speedway

    Question so I ended up just buying 3.45 ring and pinion what else would I had to change in the diff to make this fully functional?

    • @andrewd843
      @andrewd843  8 месяцев назад

      What do you mean? If you only bought the gears, you're going to need to take the diff apart and change the gears and make sure everything is set right.

  • @ryanrobitaille5903

    What do you mean no tune changes? Would of had to tune just for swapping the dif would you not have?

      @0:44 I said the only change I'm making is correcting the gear ratio. No timing, no fueling, no anything changes. Just changed the gear ratio for the mph to be correct.
