    It’s safe to say, 3.27 gears should conservatively drop a tenth off G8 60ft which would yield 2 tenths off ET

    • @NjDevilCamaro408
      @NjDevilCamaro408 Год назад

      But MOST importantly, it helps with burnouts, which 2.92s/stock converter G8s struggle to get the tires spinning

      @@NjDevilCamaro408 As a stock G8 GT owner I can say that my car does not like to do burnouts :( ... But it does do a 1.9-2.0 60 ft even with bad track prep. I feel like you can hit 1.7-1.8 60 ft times and still keep things consistent with these mods.

      @@WhaleRacer I honestly don't think his 60' is going to get any better as he sits. He might have had a better 60' if he still had the stock cam. Even though the GPI cam is mild it still raises the torque band and the stock converter is holding it back. My best 60' was 1.90 with my G8 on stock 19" Bridgestones, stock 2,92 gears, stock cam, and converter. A Circle-D 2800-3000 stall 258mm converter dropped .2 and I was consistently cutting 1.70 60" with no other changes. 3.45 gears dropped another .1 in the 60' for consistent 1.60 60' still on the stock cam.

    Nice gains. Justin! You are a converter change away from running 11s!

    I wonder how much if any difference a zl1 converter would make? I believe they only stall about 4-600 rpm higher but I like the idea of a z1 converter for a daily if it gains a little and its cheap and shouldn't affect fuel economy. I just got my g8 on Friday, I would love to get into the low 12s like you. So far I'm thinking dod delete, cam from somewhere, springs, 1 7/8 speed headers, speed x pipe. The car already has a volant intake. Its unfortunate but i can only get 91 fuel where I live, I wonder how much power difference between 91 and 93. Keep up the good work with the content.

    Nice gain. You can really see the car leaves harder. Ever try loading up the converter to see if that helps the 60?

    • @NjDevilCamaro408
      @NjDevilCamaro408 Год назад +1

      Yea we did. It didn’t like it. Bogs the car down and slows the 60ft

    • @The1st60ft
      @The1st60ft  Год назад +2

      Yeah we tried all kinds of launches. There's not much play with the stock converter and the added gear and shorter tire actually made the converter even tighter! It will barely load up before it powerbrakes because it's so tight now. The only thing that helped was pulling out of the grove so there was less sticky prep to hold the car back

    Awesome videos I just found your channel and am loving the before and after videos with each mod, do you think a 3.45 would make the results better?

    • @The1st60ft
      @The1st60ft  Год назад +1

      Hey! Thanks! I appreciate the support 🙏 I think it might benefit from 3.45s as well with the cam size and stock stall. Too much gear would probably not tho from what I've seen with a Stage 1 cam. Gotta find that balance for sure

    • @dazaspc
      @dazaspc 6 месяцев назад +2

      3.45 gives a real shove in the back but I can tell you they dont spend long in first. Cant tell you times but at 100 kph standard gearing to 3.45 caused anopther 400 rpm. On the road it's fun as tire smoke is only a pedal press away even with a dead stock car with the shifts and speedo corrected for the ratio change. At normal city speeds same economy, at Aussie highway add a liter or one and one half to every 100 klms. In a car with a cam I would be wanting an RPM rise to get the best out of it. First is bloody short.

    The 3.27’s put ya part way into 4th. 3.42’s and a looser converter should get you higher into 4th, a faster launch and 11’s. All with a stage 1 cam. Nice. Planning on heads and/or bigger cam in the future?
    👍🇺🇸💪🦅

      I plan on ditching the stock converter and going with a 3200 stall. Something still streetable. It’s my ‘Dad-mobile’ so I’ll probably just stick with the SS1 cam. I got a good deal on the 3.27 gears or else I would’ve went 3.42

      @@NjDevilCamaro408 I can relate to that. All my cars while having kids have been light builds too. Your G8 definitely sounds like a good street build and an easy daily. Will keep an eye out for your runs after you get that converter.
