I think an interesting observation is that before opening the fountain, Kris remarkably takes a few moments to look at Susie This is one of the few things that convince me that Kris doesnt have malicious intentions, at least in regards to anyone but us. They probably just wants another adventire and to spend more time with a new friend, Kris never had friends before aside form Noelle, so i think that it makes sense this is the only way they would know to keep "hanging out" with a new friend after learning how exactly the Dark Fountains are made.
@@ArceTheTroll to be fair, it seems the rparing wont happen if there aren't mpre than 3 Dark Fountains, it's possible that Kris think that it's gonna be fine to make another Dark Fountain because they're going to seal it again anyways so there won't be a danger
i'll have to admit, the scariest moment of the whole ending was Toriels phone call. the way she remarks someone 'prowling around' the house and that Kris literally SLASHED THEIR MOTHERS TIRES is bone chilling.
It's also hilarious as it's obvious they did it to spend more time with Susie, and to show Undyne that darkners do exist (they opened the door for a reason)
For real, though, I enjoy how Toriel is portrayed here - using the sugar as an excuse to check outside (if you talk to her before going into the bathroom, she can be seen eating sugar straight from the bag), then having Susie stay over to keep her safe, and having them all sleep in the living room in order to watch over them. And you can even see it in her change of demeanor after she comes back inside - she's no longer worried about the pie.
Every secret boss has been some sort of rejected item. Jevil was an abandoned playing card and Spamton was a deleted spam email. I would predict the secret boss of Chapter three to be somewhat flower-themed as Toriel always throws away Asgores bouquets. Let's see how well this ages...
The queen once said before the Giga Queen fight that anybody with enough strength and determination can do a Dark Fountain, I think Kris just learned from that, don't think he's the Knight
I don't know if you take recommendations, but if so would you consider possibly doing one of these with the cutscene after the Spamton battle where Susie asks if Kris is okay? Love these compilations btw!
I do read comments and consider people's recommendation actually. Not sure if i'll make one of that scene though, it's kinds long and got a lot going on, from susie showing kris her new healing move to picking who to give the gift to. It's just too much, probably not gonna happen. Apologies
@@playsreact8525 thats not the part theyre referring to. They mean after the Spamton NEO battle when the gang is heading out of the basement and Susie stops to ask Kris if he's okay.
Y'know I'm really glad people made the connection of the grin on the TV to Flowey because in the neutral run of Undertale when he takes all the human souls he actually has a TV for a face this could very well be some roundabout return of Flowey
People have a lot of assumptions about Kris. I don't think Kris is actually Chara, a Demon, a Psychopath, or "The Roaring Knight", Kris is just a troubled child who needs help. Going off of the idea that Kris is the knight and has made the past 2 fountains then that means they are the only person making Dark fountains and has also been the person to close them before they get too out of hand. Kris is also the ONLY person in town with the ability to close Dark Fountains because they are the only Human in town, for once being a human doesn't make Kris an outcast but allows them to play The Hero. In the Dark world Kris is a Leader, a Warrior, and Charmer, and has Friends. Susie, Kris's former bully, has now become one of Kris's most supportive friend, and they wouldn't have had the chance to bond it if it wasn't for their adventure in the first chapter, and now even BERDLY has started to make a change...started at least... Kris's life just seems to have been getting better because of these Dark Fountains, so could you blame them if they were the knight? They aren't a Villain trying to bring the end of the world, they're just a lonely kid who's displaying some attention seeking behavior. Here is why Kris is NOT the Knight. We see from Chapter 2 that Noelle and Berdly got to the Librarby first and already had their books and belonging out when you exit the Dark world so that means the Dark world must have been opened while they were already in the computer lab, we get a hint at this because in the back of the room there is a closet big enough for a large person to fit inside. If Berdly and Noelle had seen a stranger with a knife in the librarby make the dark fountain they probably would have mentioned it, so perhaps they started the Dark fountain from inside the closet and then ran out of there? We as the player know that couldn't have been Kris cause we would have been controlling Kris in the Castle town with Susie and Ralsei during that same time...The only way I could see it be Kris who opened the Computer-lab fountain is if the Fountain was being contained in just the closet overnight or they could set some sort of timer for when the fountain would open.
Do note that at the end of Chapter 1, Kris pulls out a knife. While it is revealed that Kris ate all of the pie, it's still possible that the Knight made the fountain before/after Kris ate the pie.
@@DarnHooligan But how did Kris get in? I mean the library must have been locked and there is no indication or mention that someone entered the library (Like someone forced the lock) In addition, the fountain was not in the library, it was specifically in the computer room.
@@pollo4210 It's entirely possible that the Dark World was already there when Noelle and Berdly arrived, that they were the first ones to enter the computer lab that day and entered the Dark World in similar fashion to the way Kris and Susie entered the closet Dark World for the first time. Hence why it's my personal impression that Kris' antics on the first night included opening the library's Dark Fountain.
Oh yeah I believe danTDM ended the video before he ACTUALLY saw the actual ending, I forgot about that (well that’s what someone on his video said anyway “that he didn’t actually see the actual ending for chapter 2”)
There’s a chance that Kris isn’t actually the knight. Hear me out: Kris may come to the realization of “Another dark fountain is likely going to appear.” So they create this one so it would be on KRIS’ terms, instead of the Knight’s. It would bring some notable people into the equation to potentially help: Toriel, and maybe Undyne? If Kris can prove that dark worlds exist to the cops, that would be helpful. Another thing: Susie and Kris themselves are already in the dark world, so it should be easy enough to seal this one up.
There is a theory Kris slashed the tires and opened the door so Undyne would see the dark worlds were real, as if you interact with her she thinks it's a stupid idea
I believe that he is trying to concur others, specifically Undyne. Undyne is a police chief, and she is one of the only characters who doesn’t believe in Dark Worlds. Kris opened the door before making the fountain, and an open door symbolizes that a police officer is allowed to enter without permission. Therefore, Kris must be trying to bring the issue of this danger to the world to the rest of Hometown’s attention.
@@playsreact8525 still Interasting imo, if you were to include their comments on it even after he ends the tale (you could also feature the scene before the explaination starts where Ralsei first mentions it)
Everyone else is thinking that Kris created another fountain, and I think that's more accurate, but I'm not gonna lie, at first I thought Kris started a fire, which was very scary
I find it funny how, despite not being any evidence at all to support them, some people is still blaming Chara for anything they don't like. I mean, in Undertale already didn't made much sense, but i can understand people causing them in order to scape their own blame, but here i really don't get it. Same whit people blaming Kris for snowgrave and any other problem in deltarune, though at least it makes a little more sense to acuse Kris of being the knight than it does qcusing Chara of being a World destroyer.
It's clear they're making it "seem" like they are the true villain, but i think the twist (which may have not even be meant as a twist at first) is that we're the only real villain of the story, not Kris, not Chara
I have a theory that Kris IS Chara but not in the way people imagine it. It is unclear if the war ever happened in deltarune, but I think if it did then Kris would've been "the first fallen child", like if they were Chara from another AU (even characters in fanbased AUs often have different names/ appearances/ act differently so that'd make sense imo), and if the war never happened then they're the overwordly version of Chara whose actual name is Kris, they've never been through the struggles of the original UT!Chara and.. tbh good for them haha In my opinion there's no "Chara" the way people picture them in deltarune. Just Kris and us possessing them for some reason, somehow. And them suffering greatly because of that and the choices we make for them
@@papapineapple@THE_PapaPineapple [VODS] chapter is longer because Toby suffered from an injury and he still hasn't finished the story yet. The 3 years for Chapter 2 is for waiting for Tommy to recover and letting him finish the story, so that's why it took so long.
@@colephelps2912Yes, but the fact still stands that Chapter 3 isn't releasing by itself, they've said before that chapters 3, 4, and 5 are all at once. Which is why I said it'll be a long wait, my guess was 2025/26 ()roughly 4-5 years)
Hmm. We all know Kris doesn't like us controlling them but they still seem to value us (as a tool). Kris can literally just pull us out of their body any time they want, but they still decide to put us back in. Curious..
I mean, looking at how they look when their soul is ripped out (Weakly walking, looking in pain, etc) they probably can only keep up being soulless for so long,so they put us back in to not die
I think it's more than they *need* to. Let's leave the emotional and moral state of the soulless for now and consider that the SOUL is the source of Determination. Determination is, at least in Undertale, the power of the will to live. Determination gave life to Flowey, so we can assume that lack of Determination would kill Kris/make Kris comatose. My guess is that as a Red SOUL our DT charge is high so they have enough for a few hours or so. Until they can replace us, they must keep us in. That's my analysis
@@larhtiste9269 they* And yes, they can. As a human has no magic sustaining/animating it's body, it all must be because of Determination alone. As long as the seven traits are still the same, the SOUL is the same as Undertale's, or both, there must be enough residual DT in Kris once the SOUL is removed to allow them to move for a couple of hours (as a zombie would, at least). Plus, when they open the fountain, they only move for a minute at mist before and after, so we can assume they used almost all their allowance of motion on the fountain. While the evidence is circumstancial, I fail to see any glaring flaws on the reasoning
@@gabrote42 i think you are probably true but we don't even know how determination work anymore i mean in undertale dark fountain wasnt a thing. We don't even know if magic exist outside of the dark fountain. In one of the dialogue of Noel with her father she said that it would be convinient to have healing magic to save him and Monsters seems to have alot of determination i don't even know if there are traits anymore because in deltarune chapter 1 when Susie fight Lancer with a red soul too
Hm.. The player, us, being able to regain control over Kris when the soul was put back in. By that logic, the soul allows the player to control Kris. dark worlds make inanimate objects animate and their own sentient creature. Kris had also held up the soul when the opening of the dark world happened. What if Kris’s intentions were to make the soul a separate creature that she/he could end in order to keep the player from controlling them?
Interesting idea, but i doubt a soul is consider an inanimated object, besides, Kris dosn´t seem to be able of function properly whitout our soul in their body
At first I'm sure everyone thought: "HOLY SHIT KRIS IS THE KNIGHT." I thought the same, but then I remembered any Lightner has the determination to make a Dark Fountain. I agree that it's weird, but I think the knight is Asriel. So the knight is probably Asriel, since everyone talks about the knight as something "they DID", not doing constantly. They also mention that they knight took their leave a while back and won't return, just like when Asriel left for College. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
It is said many times that the fountains are apearing, not that they have being there from a long time, the queen even said that their fountain was made that same day, one of the first thing Ralsei says on the dark world of the library is taht the fountain just apeared. The only way it could be Asriel is if he is running around town hiding from literally everyone for no reason just so he can make fountains whitout no one suspecting him even though no one would suspect him on the first place.
I think it's possible Asriel created the First Fountain as Kris very clearly had no idea since they feel into it with Susie. But once Kris put the pieces together they started doing it too
'When the Light is running low, and the shadows start to grow, and the places that you know, cut away the afterglow. There's a Light inside your soul, slowing shrinking in the cold from the truth deep down you know... And yet Darker we will go'
I personally doubt that Kris is The Knight. They're obviously *a* knight, but not the one that's mentioned repeatedly throughout the game. I think they just took inspiration from the knights actions, possibly in an attempt to create more adventures for themselves. The main reason I think this is because of the scene where Kris and Susie seal the Cyber World's dark fountain. During that part, Susie questions whether or not the fountains are really a bad thing, and says that things have gotten "interesting" since they started appearing. My theory is that Kris agreed with Susie, and decided to make a fountain of their own, based off of the information they got from Queen's monologue about the Cyber World's formation.
Well. The queen said with enough strength and determination anybody can make a dark fountain. The last part thing can be right. Lets see after chapter 3,4,and 5 release!
I'm not entirely sure. For one, he's dressed as a knight in the dark world and at the end of chapter 1 Kris pulls out a knife but we don't know what he does what with it, but at the same time it doesn't make sense.
@@taylorlipinski4048 But how she could create fountain in the library. The dog was in Chapter 1 in that room so it's impossible there was a dark fountain before Berdly's and Noelle's came there to study.
I just realized something...Chapter One, we thought the end meant something big, but they just ate the rest of the pie, as revealed in chapter 2. Chapter 2...ends with this...but I think this is another Toby trick. The "fountain" is actually just smoke from the pie burning and we'll wake up the next day with a burnt pie. I'm calling it, this is how Chapter 3 will start, the pie will be burnt and there will be no fountain. If I'm right, that would be so funny yet so annoying to some people. To me, I'd just be laughing saying that I called it. Quick note: This is Toby Fox 101 people, Toby makes it seem like this one thing will happen, but he twists it and makes it something else and when you think something doesn't happen, it will.
The pie was in the oven NOT in the floor, also explain the giant beacon of light or the creepy smile on the Tv, also check the file it says dark fountain.
About Toby making it seem like one thing is happening when something else is happening, let's think of what happKris eating Kris eating the pie at the end of Chapter 1 was something of a double red herring. Between Chapters 1 and 2, Kris ate the pie Toriel made, which meant she would have to make another if she wanted any. Toriel preparing to make the pie was what convinced Susie to stay. While the two monsters were preparing the pie, Kris ripped their soul out and slashed Toriel's tires, somehow knowing that she left the sugar in the car and would go outside to get it. Toriel seeing the slashed tires was what made her try to convince Susie into sleeping over. Eating that pie was just the first step in Kris' perfectly executed plan.
@@tadeolaguarda6965 I meant that in the sense of "Finally. Someone understood what I already knew" or some permutation of it. Is that clearer? Actually, it should have been 7:10
I called that Kris was the Dark Knight when they stopped to clean up everything in the computer lab before leaving, and then refused to enter afterwards. Seemed as if Kris themselves had created the Dark World.
Interesting fact is that for a brief moment, u can see the knife Kris wields to open the dark fountain glows RED before he stabs it into the ground. Implying that he used his own personal Determination to cast whatever spell to open that fountain.
@@willowphoenix5926 No I'm sure it's the knife, look closely, yes his eyes glowed red but when he swings the knife downwards, it had a red effect on the blade.
@Jgamer2017 Put the video in 0.25x speed and pause at that frame. You can see, individually, a red line and a larger white line- Kris's eye, and the knife.
Honestly that’s what I’ve been loving about this chapter based system, lot more to theorize on as we try to get any confirmations in the next chapter. Like I look at this and go “I don’t think we or Kris are the hero in this story. I think Kris has his own agenda, and we have ours-and they somewhat intersect inside the dark worlds, or else he would actively fight us a lot more.” And someone else can look at it and see “oh wow Kris wants an adventure with his mom and Susie :0” and both interpretations are equally valid.
I honeslty don't believe Kris is the knight. Everyone seems to be convinced that they are but I don't really agree. I think it's more likely that Kris just enjoys going on adventures with their friends, and they only learned how to make dark fountains after hearing Queen explain it so they decided to make one in their house, but I don't think Kris is the knight because I don't think they knew how to do this before Queen explained it.
Am I the only one who noticed that the face in the TV is the same (or similar) to a face that flashes when you go up a teacup elevator to complete the Spamton mission?
Kris slashed the tires to get Undyne to show up then left the door open to make her suspicious and want to enter. My money is Undyne joins the party or opposes it.
Graemeplays theory makes sense to me. However I would like to add something to it. I think Kris’s soul is Kris. However something possesses him to rip it out. I think that something is the knight.
I just like to think that WE, the PLAYER, are possessing Kris's body against his will and him ripping us out is to show that we don't fully control him. The Knight, however, is just something else entirely
My theory about all of this is that the Vessel you made in Chapter 1 wasn't fully discarded and you play as it but it possesses Kris' soul, which is probably why you overwrite Kris' save file every chapter. Second of all I think Kris opened the Dark Fountain to try to sabotage your adventure, because Kris doesn't like how you take over they're body and say and do things they don't to so they're trying to get rid of, but it's simple they could just rip out the soul and stab you, nope Kris needs you to do all the incredible stuff in the game like infinite stamina, notice how in chapter 1 when you run with Susie she gets tired, but you don't.
My personal theory is that having more than 1 fountain(2) will eventually lead to the balance falling apart, but also that if there are 3 at the same time it'll happen immediately, cuz when Ralsei described the Roaring, it depicted 3 fountains. Idk, just my own thoughts lmao. Also that there has only ever been 2 fountains at a time so far. Eg (The Closet and The Classroom) or (The Closet and The Computer Lab.)
I have a theory about what happened based on what another person said about this. Kris slashed the tires so that Toriel would call the police to her house. Undyne is one of the only characters that doesn’t believe in the existence of Dark Worlds, as you can tell her about the Fountains in both chapters and she doesn’t believe you. She is also the chief of the police. Kris also left the door open before opening the fountain, which is a symbol that police can enter freely. From these facts, me and the other person who suggested the theory assume that Kris creating a new Dark World is an attempt to get the monsters to believe him and realize that the world is in danger.
Looking back at this now, Kris is definitely not the knight( at least to me), Tbh I have a feeling the knight could be someone new, a character exclusive to Deltarune.
I was both surprised and not when I finished ch.2, the only thing I could think of is “kris is the chaos bringer” (but why? Is it because of what happened at the start? ‘We have no control’? I believe it’ll become more common for the player to lose control and i guess we’ll just need to find out in ch.3!)
I think kris opened the door so that the police came in. He slashed the tire to make toriel call them. He wanted to prove them wrong. If you went to talk to Undyne she didn’t believe kris. Maybe kris is mad and wants to prove her wrong?
I dont think that kris is evil at all in this situation. We as the players have taken kris free will and they just want to get it back in any way they can so they can live a life they have control over.
What if Kris isn't THE knight? Maybe Kris just learned how to open up dark fountains after Queen explained to Noelle how to open them, so Kris is kinda like a second knight.
It's fascinating how this game completely fails to make players understand that any lightener can create a dark fountain, thus making everybody think that Kris is the knight that opened every fountain ever
I would guess the ending of ch 1 was something like after kris pulled put the knife, and then opened a dark world in the computer lab, then just headed home and ate pie like a normal person lmao
This is long and a tangent but I wanted to share my personal theory on whats happening. No Kris isn't being controlled by Chara and they aren't evil or genocidal, they're just a kid. BUTTTTTT technically Kris *is* Chara, just like how Toriel and Undyne are still Toriel and Undyne in Deltarune. Since both Kris and Chara were adopted by the Dreemurs in both games and fill similar plot roles. Also we can infer "Chara" is sort of a placeholder name, literally short for "Character", so "Kris" might be Chara's canonical true name, just for some reason in Undertale its replaced in a meta context. But ALSO ALSO the point is that Chara wasn't an evil sociopath who killed everyone they saw in Undertale, the PLAYER influenced Chara's actions in the genocide route and awakened that side of them, they were in the Pacifist ending too, they just never saw the need to take over Frisk's body cause the player wasnt influencing them to do so. In that way the Weird Route of Chapter2 is even more of a parallel to the Genocide Route in more ways than the surface level killing and stuff, its about how the PLAYER influences the NPCs to act in ways they normally wouldn't, only difference is since "Kris's actions don't matter", now the player cant "corrupt" Chara/Kris directly, so they have to do it through other NPCs. In the end though, Kris couldn't have been the Knight as the timeline make no sense. Noelle and Berdly had already gotten their books out and began to study when the dark fountain was opened in the computer room. Kris was in castletown with Susie and us (the player), so unless they could put like a timer on the dark world activation, its not physically possible for them to be the "knight". Also the server closet was described as "big enough to fit a large person" so whoever IS the knight is 1. Large and 2. Had to be in the closet to open the dark fountain while Noelle & Berdly were studying. So why the creepy chpt 1 ending? I think from what we know about Kris (That he was a prankster, a bit creepy, and he dislikes being controlled by the player), also the fact they probably don't know what entity is controlling them except for the fact its(we're) tied to their soul, meaning Kris could've just wanted to be themselves for a little bit, eat a shitload of pie like they usually do (Toriels dialogue in the beginning of Chpt 2 definitely alludes to this) and then go back to being controlled cause they'll die without their soul which the player is tied too. It seems like Kris at the end of Chpt 2 has either seen the benefit or danger of the dark worlds, and knowing there's probably going to be more as the "knight" is still at-large, makes a controlled environment with Toriel, Susie, and potentially Undyne. In the normal route its so that Kris and the gang will have adults to back them up about the dark worlds, and in the weird route so that the player will have a harder time manipulating the NPC's, as all three of them have very strong wills and Toriel is already suspicious of Kris.
I knew Kris was the Knight from the start, in the dark world Kris literally wears a Knight's armor and everything and the end of chapter 1 just made me think so even more.
Close, but no, kris is a knight, but not THE knight, aka the one we’ve been told about so far, there’s a few things that prove this. First thing is the beginning of chapter 2, or more specifically the dark world of chapter 2. There’s no way that kris created this dark world (or the first one for that matter.). the reason is simple, noelle and berdy went to that room to study, and the fact that they actually entered the room implies that room wasn’t a dark fountain when they got there, meaning that a dark fountain had to be created WHILE they were in the computer room. How do we know this? After sealing the fountain, if you interact with the closet in the room, it says that the closet is big enough to fit a large person inside, this set of text implies that when noelle and Berdy entered the computer room to study, someone (aka the knight) was hiding inside the closet waiting to create the fountain, which would explain how they got trapped in there in the first place, and we were in control of kris at the time, which means it was impossible for kris to be there to create the dark world, and as far as kris creating the dark fountain at the end of chapter 2? that’s because this was the chapter when kris learned how to do it, as queen herself explains in this chapter how any lightner with enough determination can make a fountain, which means kris only learned about the process of creating fountains at the end of chapter 2. And as for why kris would create a dark fountain? it’s not because kris wants to end the world or anything like that, it’s just that kris wants to have an adventure as a troubled kid. After all, if Kris wanted to destroy the world, why would he let the player seal the fountains he’s creating, it wouldn’t make much sense, if kris was the knight, they would be trying much harder to resist the player then what we see.
Wait, Toriel called the police before Kris opened another dark world. So... Does that mean that, assuming the person coming to check on Toriel is the Police Chief... WILL WE GET TO SEE DARK WORLD UNDYNE IN CHAPTER THREE??????
What i dont understand is why people think its kris doing this when its clearly chara not only did they open a fountain but turned on the tv with tv flowey's smile if it was truly kris they would have knowledge of the player and would have rejected us throughout the game not in the endings
Theory time! "Your choices don't matter" but they do. I think next chapter will be you controlling the character you create and not Kris, since Kris never put *YOUR* soul back in their body. Will we have to fight Kris, Susie, Ralsei and/or Lancer? Will we have a character of ourselves in the story? Honestly, it would be awesome if that happened, but now that I said it, it probably won't.
HeY, I just had a thought: At the end of chapter 1, Kris has a knife, and in chapter 2(which is the NEXT day) a new fountain has appeared, and it appears that Kris created a new fountain at the end of this one, so WHAT IF Kris created the fountain in the library as well?
i doubt it, Noelle and Berdly had enough time to enter the room, take out their books and start doing their work before they entered the dark world, if the fountain had already been open the previous night, then, they would have enter the dark world the moment they went through the door. Also, ralsei would have told Susie and Kris abaut the new fountain the moment they entered the dark world to meet him after school, since he gives so much importance to close the fountains. To finish, many characters seem to have meet the knight, who is the one who opened the previous fountains, but no one recognise Frisk as said knight.
So yeah, at this point, I'm convined that Kris is "The Knight" that's been opening up dark fountains and causing Queen and the Spade King to become malicious, that or he just took Queen's information to heart.
I don't think that's possible, so here I will dump all the evidence I can think of off the top of my head. 1. Kris wasn't there when the Cyber's World dark fountain was created, unless it only opens after some time. This is because Kris was in Castle town with Susie and Ralsei, when Noelle and Berdly were studying. Also I'm almost certain that they were already studying, since their books were out, they believe they fell asleep while studying and they were sitting at the table. Also the closet when checked says "a large person could easily fit inside" which implies that the knight hid in the closet, opened a fountain and ran away. 2. As you already mentioned, Queen told Kris how to create a fountain in the same chapter, so it would make sense if Kris didn't even know how to create a fountain before. 3. Kris has many other motivations to open a fountain. For example they could just want to go on another adventure with Susie. They could also want to explore the dark worlds more in order to find a way to get free from the player's control. They could want to alert the police of dark fountains since they opened the fountain after slashing Toriel's tires, so she calls the police and opening the door so they can get in/have reason to go inside. During snowgrave they might know that the knight will keep opening dark fountains so, if there will be a new fountain anyway why not make it in a place with Susie and Toriel, some of the least likely characters to be easily manipulated by Kris/the player. 4. The Spade King respects The Knight and has at least had a conversation with them, so has the Queen. Doesn't make sense for them to fight their ally that much, now does it. There is a lot more, but I can't think of it and also this comment is basically an essay already.
I have a couple theories. What if Kris is the Knight, but it didnt go as they planned. I think I remember one of the town Lightners mentioning Kris practicing or trying some curses with them. Kris might have found a way to make the Dark Fountains through the internet. Maybe they were lonely which is why they made one of the fountains in school, possibly during night. Call this a stretch but, i think its possible Determination in this game isnt the same as Undertale's Determination. I had the thought of it as DETERmination, detering the control of the person's body to the hands of another, the player. Kris's soul may have been filled with this DETERmination while they were using their Determination to open the Unused classroom Dark world (I think the Queen mentioned lightners can use their determination to open dark world fountains) and so the prolouge may have been us gaining control of Kris' body. And then having full control after the night passes by with Kris waking up. What if Kris doesnt look the same in the Dark world when he doesnt have his soul/DETERmination, he might look like a knight. Kris may have disliked or regretted this, so they decided to open more fountains to make someone help get rid of the controler. Since Berdly and Noelle were the smart kids from what they knew, they decided to target the Library. (Since there was a group project assignment their class was having and Berdly and Noelle would probably go to the Library for the assignment) In Undertale, the Genocide run would play out with the Monsters hiding from Frisk. But in the Deltarune Snowgrave route, The Darkners hide away from Noelle, and Kris, because of the deaths she caused. So the Fountain may have targeted filling Noelle's soul with DETERmination since she's smart (the type of person Kris might have been looking for to help them get rid of their DETERmination, which is why they created the Library Dark World) and she also says she hears the voice, probably the player's, when Kris is downed during the snowgrave Berdly battle. Whichever route, pacifist or snowgrave, Kris fails. In the Pacifist route, Noelle is probably not filled with DETERmination as the fountain is powered off. But In the snowgrave route, Noelle may have been filled with DETERmination or is not being fully affected by it. But instead of the Player being the one in control, its something or someone else, another entity. Why do i think this? During Noelle's inner monologue in the hospital, we see that she suspects something wrong with Kris. In her, and her possible controler's perspective, theyre probably going to try to figure out whats wrong with Kris behind the scenes as the Chapters progress. But Kris didnt get rid of his DETERmination during these chapter routes, thus making them think they failed. So Kris's next improvised target was his mom. Chapter 3 might focus on his Mom's DETERmination, with possibly the controler(s) either making her a pacifist or genocider for different routes. If the Chapter is in a Tv Dark World, Toriel might have to choose wether to eliminate "bad" influences or to make them go away peacefully. So, Kris might try to get their mom to help them get rid of their DETERmination. On another subject, theres a choice to deliver flowers to Toriel that come from Asgore. What if these flowers are the secret boss for Chapter 3, Flowers similar to Flowey. The reason I thought of this is because the tv static smile reminded me of Flowey's human souls merged boss fight, and the flowers were a choice to deliver if you talked to Asgore during Chapter 1. Again, these are just a couple of theories. Thx to whoever reads em.

I think an interesting observation is that before opening the fountain, Kris remarkably takes a few moments to look at Susie
This is one of the few things that convince me that Kris doesnt have malicious intentions, at least in regards to anyone but us. They probably just wants another adventire and to spend more time with a new friend, Kris never had friends before aside form Noelle, so i think that it makes sense this is the only way they would know to keep "hanging out" with a new friend after learning how exactly the Dark Fountains are made.

I mean, it's possible Kris made the fountain in the library the night he woke up and took out a knife.
@@DarnHooligan But how did Kris get in? I mean the library must have been locked and there is no indication or mention that someone entered the library (Like someone forced the lock)
In addition, the fountain was not in the library, it was specifically in the computer room.
@@DarnHooligan For a "Dark World" to be created SOMEONE would have to be in the computer room, which means the Knight was already inside the library

So... They're a Greater-Scope Paragon?
There is a theory Kris slashed the tires and opened the door so Undyne would see the dark worlds were real, as if you interact with her she thinks it's a stupid idea
I believe that he is trying to concur others, specifically Undyne. Undyne is a police chief, and she is one of the only characters who doesn’t believe in Dark Worlds. Kris opened the door before making the fountain, and an open door symbolizes that a police officer is allowed to enter without permission. Therefore, Kris must be trying to bring the issue of this danger to the world to the rest of Hometown’s attention.

Everyone else is thinking that Kris created another fountain, and I think that's more accurate, but I'm not gonna lie, at first I thought Kris started a fire, which was very scary
by first reactions calling kris the knight has the same energy as calling the bite of 83 the bite of 87
I find it funny how, despite not being any evidence at all to support them, some people is still blaming Chara for anything they don't like.
The psycho eyes, the Slasher Smile, the crazy and erratic movements... It's kinda hard not to think Chara is out antagonist.
@@thegameknight8916 this is clearly a red herring bro
@@gabrielf204 I hope so. I really do.
It's clear they're making it "seem" like they are the true villain, but i think the twist (which may have not even be meant as a twist at first) is that we're the only real villain of the story, not Kris, not Chara
I have a theory that Kris IS Chara but not in the way people imagine it.
It is unclear if the war ever happened in deltarune, but I think if it did then Kris would've been "the first fallen child", like if they were Chara from another AU (even characters in fanbased AUs often have different names/ appearances/ act differently so that'd make sense imo), and if the war never happened then they're the overwordly version of Chara whose actual name is Kris, they've never been through the struggles of the original UT!Chara and.. tbh good for them haha
In my opinion there's no "Chara" the way people picture them in deltarune. Just Kris and us possessing them for some reason, somehow. And them suffering greatly because of that and the choices we make for them

@@gabrote42 well in that case he can open fountain without his Heart
@@larhtiste9269 they*
And yes, they can.
Theres gotta be a reason the vessel keeps putting the heart back in and giving the player control
At first I'm sure everyone thought: "HOLY SHIT KRIS IS THE KNIGHT."
I thought the same, but then I remembered any Lightner has the determination to make a Dark Fountain.
But once Kris put the pieces together they started doing it too
Going by Trick Theory’s logic… the Knight could be that discarded vessel from before Chapter 1.
I just realized that Kris stuff their soul in between the couch cushions
The audio of Dawko saying "Oh no, I'm gonna rip my soul out.....YEP, I DID IT" is so funny to me
I don't belive Kris (or Asriel) is the knight
Why would it be Asriel ?? He isn't even here, he is in college
I think the vessel we created in the beginning is the Knight
I'm not entirely sure. For one, he's dressed as a knight in the dark world and at the end of chapter 1 Kris pulls out a knife but we don't know what he does what with it, but at the same time it doesn't make sense.
@@KrystalTwilight I am thinking about that too.
@@taylorlipinski4048 But how she could create fountain in the library. The dog was in Chapter 1 in that room so it's impossible there was a dark fountain before Berdly's and Noelle's came there to study.
Miss playing this game for the first time, I can't wait for them to possibly add more chapters
But see, now that we all _know_ that Toby has done that, he might pull a double switch on us.
This is straight up dumb
The pie was in the oven NOT in the floor, also explain the giant beacon of light or the creepy smile on the Tv, also check the file it says dark fountain.
How the fuck does burning pie make a light pillar explode from the ground and make pitch black smoke fill up a whole damn room?

From these facts, me and the other person who suggested the theory assume that Kris creating a new Dark World is an attempt to get the monsters to believe him and realize that the world is in danger.
at this point im kinda curious what would dark world Toriel would look like-
I like how Kris literally made a whole fucking dark fountain at their house and no one woke up from that.
Looking back at this now, Kris is definitely not the knight( at least to me), Tbh I have a feeling the knight could be someone new, a character exclusive to Deltarune.
Next chapter toriel and possibly undyne will be invoved
I was both surprised and not when I finished ch.2, the only thing I could think of is “kris is the chaos bringer” (but why? Is it because of what happened at the start? ‘We have no control’? I believe it’ll become more common for the player to lose control and i guess we’ll just need to find out in ch.3!)
to be fair, there is evidence to suport that this is the first fountain Kris has open, there may be other reasons why Kris is opening this fountain.
I'm glad to know the music wasn't broke for me.
The first game with a plot twist at the beginning
I think kris opened the door so that the police came in. He slashed the tire to make toriel call them. He wanted to prove them wrong. If you went to talk to Undyne she didn’t believe kris. Maybe kris is mad and wants to prove her wrong?
I dont think that kris is evil at all in this situation. We as the players have taken kris free will and they just want to get it back in any way they can so they can live a life they have control over.
It was at this moment we realised...
Kris IS *The Knight* !
What if Kris isn't THE knight? Maybe Kris just learned how to open up dark fountains after Queen explained to Noelle how to open them, so Kris is kinda like a second knight.
the knight is the guy in church, alvin
i don't think so
@@sufalt123 Wait, really??!??!?!???
Well, honestly, until the other Chapters comes out, that is still kind of up in the air right now.
It's fascinating how this game completely fails to make players understand that any lightener can create a dark fountain, thus making everybody think that Kris is the knight that opened every fountain ever
Chara: You're no Longer in Control, [Player]. I AM THE RULER OF THIS WORLD.
[So, basically, at the end of this, Chara is basically Commencing the Roaring.]
thats kris not chara
I would guess the ending of ch 1 was something like after kris pulled put the knife, and then opened a dark world in the computer lab, then just headed home and ate pie like a normal person lmao
"KRIS WHAT THE HELL THE FLOOR IS NOT MADE OUT OF PIE"
Why does everyone think that Kris is the Knight? Lightners can create fountains
When you finished Chapter 2 and witness the birth of a new Fountain: 1:49 - 2:03
The tv is flowey 😱
stupid theory that i came up 3 secs ago:
Kris just wanted to taste the floor
Wait how did you see johneawesome's reaction? For me, the rest of the video (on youtube) is just frozen.
Wait, Toriel called the police before Kris opened another dark world.
So...
Does that mean that, assuming the person coming to check on Toriel is the Police Chief...
WILL WE GET TO SEE DARK WORLD UNDYNE IN CHAPTER THREE??????
What if the beginning of chapter 3 has us play as the soul, but not Kris?
What i dont understand is why people think its kris doing this when its clearly chara not only did they open a fountain but turned on the tv with tv flowey's smile if it was truly kris they would have knowledge of the player and would have rejected us throughout the game not in the endings
HE OPENED A DARK FOUNTAIN!!!
"The demon is awake"
Theory time! "Your choices don't matter" but they do. I think next chapter will be you controlling the character you create and not Kris, since Kris never put *YOUR* soul back in their body. Will we have to fight Kris, Susie, Ralsei and/or Lancer? Will we have a character of ourselves in the story? Honestly, it would be awesome if that happened, but now that I said it, it probably won't.
it is a great idea, but i doubt it will happen, specially seen how Kris seem to strugle to even move when they don´t have our soul in their body
Uh...
Chapter 3 seems just the slightest bit early for things to come to a head so quickly.
@@thumbsup8985 agree
I think chapter 6
How did that not wake them up lol
HeY, I just had a thought: At the end of chapter 1, Kris has a knife, and in chapter 2(which is the NEXT day) a new fountain has appeared, and it appears that Kris created a new fountain at the end of this one, so WHAT IF Kris created the fountain in the library as well?
i doubt it, Noelle and Berdly had enough time to enter the room, take out their books and start doing their work before they entered the dark world, if the fountain had already been open the previous night, then, they would have enter the dark world the moment they went
through the door. Also, ralsei would have told Susie and Kris abaut the new fountain the moment they entered the dark world to meet him after school, since he gives so much importance to close the fountains. To finish, many characters seem to have meet the knight, who is the one who opened the previous fountains, but no one recognise Frisk as said knight.
flowey is so sus.
Up next can you do: Gamers react to bagels death?
@@GEGGARCHYNo
kris goes by they/them.
(Since there was a group project assignment their class was having and Berdly and Noelle would probably go to the Library for the assignment)
In Undertale, the Genocide run would play out with the Monsters hiding from Frisk.
