theyre a lot more intimidating if you encounter them in the wild. Honestly the first encounter with gloom hands might be the greatest open world horror encounter ive ever seen in a game

Yeah. I was going to the shrine at the Great Plateau and they jumped me in a clearing just before it. They were so fast and hard to hit that I just started running and was relieved when they hit their invisible wall
Technically they “saw” one, They were climbing a cliff or something in a field and the sky changed but they never saw what caused it, got confused, and left.
Fortunately we've the best ability ever and that is respawning, imagine if Link didn't have that, Ganondorf would've won in every timeline. Hyrule is lucky that it's hero is being controlled and empowered by an intercosmic eldritch entity(us)

I watch the guy a lot and was surprised to see him in one of these videos. He’s a school teacher and a pleasant individual who really enjoys explaining his thoughts on the games he plays. He’s not too afraid of giving his honest opinion if he doesn’t like something but enjoys praising games and focusing on the good aspects, something not all that common in Let’s Players. I recommend subscribing to Roamer. Great content creator.
My first Gloom Spawn experience was right after I got the Paraglider, when I dropped into the pit beneath Hyrule Castle. I didn’t think it was the end of the game, I just wanted some good gear and thought BotW prepared me for any enemies I’d face, and beating the Lynel gave me confidence. I was not prepared.
I went under hyrule Castle after doing the Wind temple, figuring that 'since Hyrule Castle is safe, the depths probably are too! AND they might have cool loot!!' It wasn't until I got to the room with the mural that I considered _maybe_ I shouldn't be there yet
My first encounter was similar to Roamer, I was minding my own business when the sky suddenly turned red, I was really confused as to why there was a blood moon in the middle of the day. Then I turned round
They seriously freaked out over its turning into Phantom Ganon? Moreso than when they encountered the gloom hands? It's just a mummified tyrant covered in gloomblood with telegraphic moves; at least THAT'S more predictable than figuring out WTF those hands will do to me (sure AF it ain't a heej 😅)!

DeeBeeGeek also had a FANTASTIC reaction to them. Then when he went back to get his revenge like two temples later, THEN he discovered the Phantom Ganon while congratulating himself.😂
I thought for sure that hitting them with brightblooms got rid of them because it *seemed* to work the first few times they showed up, but apparently each time it just coincided with them vanishing on their own.
I freaked out once, and then somewhere down the line I started hunting down the gloom hands like a psychopath. Also I love Dan's reaction to those things, just immediate panic and then "QUICK ARIN PUT ON YOUR LITTLE HAT"
The guardins were predictable. These things, especially after an update or two, are absolutely terrifying. Like on release, they couldn't climb certain walls or inclines....but that changed quickly.
@@terranceaskew3165Wait they can climb now?! Lord help me 💀 I avoid them as much as possible, didn't know they could climb now bc I just glide or warp away 😅
@@xotbirdox Yeah! Not sure which update caused it, but I noticed they can climb slight inclines now, whereas before, they couldn't. As an example, the one that spawns near Hateno Village in the forest, I "used" to just climb that large rock/hill (next to the river) to escape them or just bomb arrow them from there...nah, they can climb that too.
the guardians for me were really scary at the beginning, but i quickly started taking them down no problem. i still run or warp away from gloom hands unless i really need dark clumps 🥲 they make any fear i had for guardians at the start seem like relaxation
i love that rt's first enoucnter was the unskippable one on the way to ganon's because he got off the sky island and IMMEDIATELY attempted the final boss DOING A PERMADEATH CHALLENG
That was certainly a stressful FIRST STREAM. RT spoiling the ending the day it came out is hilarious though, even if it was just the start of the ending
I love how this is gonna be a talking point for people and video games from now on. "Where'd you encounter Gloom Hands???" 😂 I was running up Mt. Lanayru and they popped out. I immediately jumped off the side of Mt. Lanayru. I almost forgot to use the paraglider. Then I just hung on to a large icicle until they disappeared, lol.
Every one of these guys first instinct when encountering Gloom Hands is to either jump down from the safety of the high ground where the hands can't reach them and run or fight back, or run away from the safety of a shrine that is RIGHT NEXT TO THEM!! What did I do my first time? I did the obvious solution and warped the fuck out of there!
My first encounter with them was in a cave where Rauru's blessing shrine was. I was watching a friend on twitch enter that same area 3 minutes later😂😂 . Edit turns out it was the same area as Roamer was
My first encounter with them hands was in the maze. I was there right in front of the shrine celebrating navigating the maze then all of a sudden these grope meisters spawn out of nowhere. My first instinct was to climb the wall because I wanted to enter the shrine. To add insult to injury Phantom A-hole spawned in for an attempt on a revenge kill, I headed straight to the shrine.
I love gloom hands. Probably one of my favorite things in this game. I really want Nintendo to keep adding stuff to just put you in your place like the gloom hands do. I've been marking on my map locations where I found them so I can hunt them for more swords and whatnot
My first time I was in the same cave as a couple of those RUclipsrs were. I was just minding my own business, saw a pile of gloom but went around it. Suddenly I hear battle music so I frantically start looking around because I didn't see or hear any monsters. Then I see these hands reaching for me. I immediately sprinted for the wall and clung to it for dear life as I look down at this thing in horror.
Crazy how late in the game some of these guys found gloom hands, when I met them almost immediately off of the great sky island and it greatly hindered my eagerness to explore. Like pointcrow has 3 of the sages and ur telling me this is the first time he's seen gloom hands!?
I totally pranked my younger brother with the Gloom Hands, I told him they would drop OP Loot if you kill them, this part is kinda true but I didnt mentioned Phantom Ganon 😂
I remember how I freaked out, the sky suddenly turning red, I thought the Blood Moon came early in a very quicker way and the music changed. I didn't know what to do especially I only had 4 hearts in the game. I was terrified.
for born losers gaming, at least, this clip is actually their second time encountering the gloom hands - the first time they were standing high up and looking at the sky, only noticing the blood moon atmosphere and being very confused. iirc, they were still pretty early in the game that time
For the second guy, RTGame, he straight up went to the final boss almost immediately after getting the paraglider. Made it incredibly far too. On a sidenote, he was doing a no-deaths blind run lmao
My literal favorite thing is how they're so panic-inducing that you forget you can just teleport out of the situation. My first encounter with them was the Lomei labyrinth in Hebra. I was just "What is that? Whaaa- oh my god! OH SHIT SHOOT IT-" Then when they grabbed me I panic-paused the game and hyperventilated, unpaused, freaked out some more, paused, and put down my switch for a bit. Only then did I think to teleport out of there.
My first encounter I tried climbing up some rocks to get away and it started raining. I ran out of stamina and died. I thought the change in weather was part of this creature's powers. Turns out I was just extremely unlucky.
My first time encpuntering them was at the end of the arctic labyrinth on the surface. I'd only heard of the gloom hands prior and presumed what I had just died to was them. Wanting revenge I marched straight back there and killed them, only to be met with the greatest panic I had ever felt playing a videogame as it drops a full mini-boss on me after I just barely survived the previous fight.
My first encounter with these suckers was right near the landing in a cave for a shrine. Scariest shit, my heart dropped when I saw phantom ganons health bar pop up for the first time
My first experience with Gloom hands was in the cave with a shrine that BLG and ZachScott found them in My first reaction was “why is that goop moving?” And when the hands showed up and screeched, I went “OH SHIT” I got to pretty low HP before I just barely escaped onto the hill in the middle of the room, and I used bomb flower arrows to kill them Then, Phantom Ganon appeared. Now, I was lucky enough to be not spoiled at all except for three or so small things, but I’d heard the name “Phantom Ganon” before I started playing and I assumed it was like a precursor to the final boss Like you gotta fight Phantom Ganon before actual Ganondorf So, phantom Ganon appeared and murdered me instantly when I came down from the Coward Hill ™️ like a fool When I respawned, I just went to the shrine and then left Now, I literally got the game a week ago so I’m only about halfway done with the Regional Phenomena quest (I spent most of that playtime doing literally anything else for completion)
My first encounter with them was in Castle Town. I was enjoying the surprisingly peaceful ruins now that the Guardians were gone when I noticed a pool of gloom that I thought wasn't there before. Then the arms appeared, they noticed me, and the sky turned red as they reached me in no time flat. I tried to fight, got the notification that gloom damage lowers my maximum health, and warped the hell out of there.
My first encounter was at the Citadel. I jumped off that cliff so fast, i actually turned around while paragliding. Though, not my biggest scare. I actually have a screen recording, reacting to a tree uprooting itself during a lightning storm 😱
Yeah cuz fuck that😭. I was just strolling along, and then suddenly i was grabbed by 5 hands, and the skies turned red Maaanyy hours and many deaths later i encountered them again and beat them by the skin of my teeth just for fucking PHANTOM GANON TO SHOW UP?
I first encountered these things in a cave and the moment I saw them I was like wtf are those it didn't help that their shrieking made me go into panic mode and throw all my logic out the window.
Not my first experience with gloom hands, but still a funny one: I was strolling along through a cave, saw a shrine up a ledge, and hopped right up there. I was expecting a puzzle of some kind - I literally just walked right up to the shrine, there was no way it was a blessing shrine, right? Except it *was* a blessing shrine. And I was very confused. What had I done that would've been so difficult to reach the shrine? I walked into a cave, climbed up a small wall, and just went in. Where was the challenge? I left the shrine feeling bemused, dropped off the ledge and started to head for the exit...only to hear loud shrieking from my left, and realized exactly why it was a blessing shrine. XD
My first encounter was in the Plain of Hyrule at the very beginning of the game, I didn't even have the parabola yet. I had a real panic attack when I saw them !😂
My first encounter with those horrifying FloorMasters (I know what they are) was near Sahasra Slope (where the floating sky island housed the shrine) just west of Kakariko. The one time i didn't have enough stamina to climb up and decided to come back later, that one moment I saw a large patch of Gloom appear out of nowhere and 5 hands emerge, that's when i screamed and HIGH TAIL IT!!
the trick is swapping between ice chuchu and then bombflower arrows. they get frozen by the ice and then the explosion hits all of them for big damage, it’s the way I’ve successfully killed them several times. but when you aren’t expecting them those things are TERRIFYING.
When I first saw this I got so scared but determined and end up killing it by waste my limited bombs. Imagine my surprise when Phantom Ganon shows up afterwards 😱
My first time seeing them was while I was just riding around hyrule and trying to navigate it now that the terrain is slightly different, when my horse made a wrong turn out of nowhere and suddenly I heard a horrible shriek and then the world turned crimson and all of a sudden I was being accosted by hands and music that made me yell out loud in fear. I instantly missed guardians.
My first encounter with these was in that cave where most of the people in the video found them. Almost soiled myself while fighting them and then upon seeing the boss health bar appear I felt my soul leave my body.
I remember i was sitting with my family when i first encountered these buggers. I genuinely let out a yell and just frantically explained "hands... from the ground... what the f..." it took everything i had to hold back that f-bomb from my folks.
I remember my first encounter with gloom hands. Had like 6 hearts, was just chilling with my horse until I saw the sky turn red during the day. I was confused as to why a blood moon was occurring during the day until those hands caught me, I caught those hands and died soon after :)
My first time was next to a shrine. The sky turned red the music was screaming and gloom hands starring and running after me. I have never been more terrified in my life
It was not my first time but I got to the temple in the cave before I noticed the hands and I remember thinking "why is this temple a blessing? It was not hard to get to". Boy, when I got out they were right there 😢
theyre a lot more intimidating if you encounter them in the wild. Honestly the first encounter with gloom hands might be the greatest open world horror encounter ive ever seen in a game

I've never heard of Roamer before but hands down he had the best reaction.
He just wanted some apples.
@@theherohartmutan apple a day brings the gloom hands your way 🍎
Calvin also known as roamer is top tier
Haha HANDS down
I watch the guy a lot and was surprised to see him in one of these videos.
I love how Vinny just sighs and goes “fuck you” before immediately going into a useless two handed spin attack
Average player: minding their business
Gloom Hands: *raptor noises intensify*
seeing these things was probably the first time i’ve experienced genuine fear in a long time
I love how roamer just doesn‘t notice the gloom puddle💀
To be fair the map has tons of gloom puddles all over the place.
@@jakobr_ but at *C H A S M S*
Oh wait. He was a beginner back then
or probably a beginner
My first Gloom Spawn experience was right after I got the Paraglider, when I dropped into the pit beneath Hyrule Castle. I didn’t think it was the end of the game, I just wanted some good gear and thought BotW prepared me for any enemies I’d face, and beating the Lynel gave me confidence.
I was not prepared.
I went under hyrule Castle after doing the Wind temple, figuring that 'since Hyrule Castle is safe, the depths probably are too! AND they might have cool loot!!'
It wasn't until I got to the room with the mural that I considered _maybe_ I shouldn't be there yet
My first encounter was similar to Roamer, I was minding my own business when the sky suddenly turned red, I was really confused as to why there was a blood moon in the middle of the day.
Then I turned round
Did you teleport out?
The BornLosersGaming reaction to Phantom Ganon was honestly gold
They seriously freaked out over its turning into Phantom Ganon? Moreso than when they encountered the gloom hands? It's just a mummified tyrant covered in gloomblood with telegraphic moves; at least THAT'S more predictable than figuring out WTF those hands will do to me (sure AF it ain't a heej 😅)!
@@Echo81Rumple83 It's more like they just beat this terrifying monstrosity of an enemy, they didn't expect a full boss fight after something that creepy
Honestly same reaction I had
@@Echo81Rumple83tbf imagine the final boss showing up after you kill some random abomination lol. When you know absolutely nothing it's like when Strahd just randomly shows up in curse of Strahd lmao
DeeBeeGeek also had a FANTASTIC reaction to them. Then when he went back to get his revenge like two temples later, THEN he discovered the Phantom Ganon while congratulating himself.😂
I will never forget the sheer terror that shot through my soul on my first encounter with this god-forsaken monstrosity.
I thought for sure that hitting them with brightblooms got rid of them because it *seemed* to work the first few times they showed up, but apparently each time it just coincided with them vanishing on their own.
Dazzlefruit knocks them down briefly. Freezing works briefly. Any amount of pause is welcome.
@@M.E.M.O.10-50 Still it was that they up and vanished and left loot so I thought that was a sign that they were defeated.
RTGame: It’s over; I have the high ground. 😄
Phantom Ganon: You underestimate my power.
RTGame: 😧
I freaked out once, and then somewhere down the line I started hunting down the gloom hands like a psychopath.
Also I love Dan's reaction to those things, just immediate panic and then "QUICK ARIN PUT ON YOUR LITTLE HAT"
Unlike a lot of people say, the guardians never really were a problem imo, they were pretty easy to kill. But that f* thing was a living nightmare
Having the sky turn red is the best thing the devs did to the gloom hands
not only atmospheric, it blocks out the sun too so your gloomed hearts cant heal
I love the joy of BornLosersGaming being completely crushed by the arrival of Phantom Ganon
Personally, I like to call them Ganon Grippers
I like to call em the "Grabby Hands" myself.
I call them "Satan's Jazz Hands"
I'm a fan of the simple things
"THOSE FUCKING THINGS?!"
i love that rt's first enoucnter was the unskippable one on the way to ganon's because he got off the sky island and IMMEDIATELY attempted the final boss DOING A PERMADEATH CHALLENG
That was certainly a stressful FIRST STREAM. RT spoiling the ending the day it came out is hilarious though, even if it was just the start of the ending
I love how this is gonna be a talking point for people and video games from now on. "Where'd you encounter Gloom Hands???" 😂
I was running up Mt. Lanayru and they popped out. I immediately jumped off the side of Mt. Lanayru. I almost forgot to use the paraglider. Then I just hung on to a large icicle until they disappeared, lol.
I cant even put into words how much i love this enemy. Its just so out of nowhere and actually intimidating
i loved the game grumps reaction hahaha
Lmao roamer got the best timing and reaction
Every one of these guys first instinct when encountering Gloom Hands is to either jump down from the safety of the high ground where the hands can't reach them and run or fight back, or run away from the safety of a shrine that is RIGHT NEXT TO THEM!!
What did I do my first time? I did the obvious solution and warped the fuck out of there!
Vinny being the only one to be like "so anyway i started swinging" while everyone else was "so anyway i started running"
How did the first guy get so far without finding the gloom hands?!
He beat the game without seeing a single Lynel
@DanGRdS is that possible?? theres one in gloom's approach
I like how that second guy was all calm shooting arrows at them from afar and then was like "PHANTOM GANON???!!!!"
I don’t understand people who reacted calmly to these things. I was SCREAMING
They probably play Twilight Princess
My first encounter with gloom hands happened to be in complete darkness in the depths, so needless to say i was very scared.
That was so mean, bet he was peeved.
I remember how I freaked out, the sky suddenly turning red, I thought the Blood Moon came early in a very quicker way and the music changed.
I didn't know what to do especially I only had 4 hearts in the game.
I was terrified.
How did so many people go so long without seeing Gloom Hands? I found them while still in Hyrule Field while only having 4 hearts
for born losers gaming, at least, this clip is actually their second time encountering the gloom hands - the first time they were standing high up and looking at the sky, only noticing the blood moon atmosphere and being very confused. iirc, they were still pretty early in the game that time
For the second guy, RTGame, he straight up went to the final boss almost immediately after getting the paraglider. Made it incredibly far too. On a sidenote, he was doing a no-deaths blind run lmao
@@FrozenCampbellSoupwell, not exactly a no death run. He did stub his toe
My literal favorite thing is how they're so panic-inducing that you forget you can just teleport out of the situation. My first encounter with them was the Lomei labyrinth in Hebra. I was just "What is that? Whaaa- oh my god! OH SHIT SHOOT IT-"
Then when they grabbed me I panic-paused the game and hyperventilated, unpaused, freaked out some more, paused, and put down my switch for a bit. Only then did I think to teleport out of there.
I don't think I've ever screamed louder in my life. Hell of a jumpscare.
_"ARIN PUT ON YOUR LITTLE HAT!!"_ is the funniest one by far.
My first encounter with these suckers was right near the landing in a cave for a shrine. Scariest shit, my heart dropped when I saw phantom ganons health bar pop up for the first time
My first experience with Gloom hands was in the cave with a shrine that BLG and ZachScott found them in
My first reaction was “why is that goop moving?” And when the hands showed up and screeched, I went “OH SHIT”
I got to pretty low HP before I just barely escaped onto the hill in the middle of the room, and I used bomb flower arrows to kill them
Then, Phantom Ganon appeared.
Now, I was lucky enough to be not spoiled at all except for three or so small things, but I’d heard the name “Phantom Ganon” before I started playing and I assumed it was like a precursor to the final boss
Like you gotta fight Phantom Ganon before actual Ganondorf
So, phantom Ganon appeared and murdered me instantly when I came down from the Coward Hill ™️ like a fool
When I respawned, I just went to the shrine and then left
Now, I literally got the game a week ago so I’m only about halfway done with the Regional Phenomena quest (I spent most of that playtime doing literally anything else for completion)
I've never missed the guardians more than when i first encounter Goopey the Gloom Hand
I was just strolling along, and then suddenly i was grabbed by 5 hands, and the skies turned red
Maaanyy hours and many deaths later i encountered them again and beat them by the skin of my teeth just for fucking PHANTOM GANON TO SHOW UP?
3:30 that pan around was fucking perfect. cinematography at it's peak
I first encountered these things in a cave and the moment I saw them I was like wtf are those it didn't help that their shrieking made me go into panic mode and throw all my logic out the window.
im starting to think Nintendo specifically removed whistle sprinting just because of the gloom hands
Not my first experience with gloom hands, but still a funny one:
I was strolling along through a cave, saw a shrine up a ledge, and hopped right up there.
XD
I like how says the biggest possible spoiler in the first clip and immediately the game punishes him for it lmao
Never thought they could create an enemy more terrifying than the Guardians.
My first encounter with Gloom Hands was while I was climbing Mount Lanayru. It was one hell of a scenic view for the occasion, I’ll say.
Gloom Spawn give you agoraphobia. (Fear of open spaces)
That feeling younger when you finally figured out how to defeat them when Phantom Gabon popped out 😭😩
My first encounter was in the Plain of Hyrule at the very beginning of the game, I didn't even have the parabola yet. I had a real panic attack when I saw them !😂
He just wanted some apples :(
My first encounter with those horrifying FloorMasters (I know what they are) was near Sahasra Slope (where the floating sky island housed the shrine) just west of Kakariko.
The one time i didn't have enough stamina to climb up and decided to come back later, that one moment I saw a large patch of Gloom appear out of nowhere and 5 hands emerge, that's when i screamed and HIGH TAIL IT!!
bro at 8:15 was like aye il abuse the power of spin but the Gloom Hands said aight bet
the trick is swapping between ice chuchu and then bombflower arrows. they get frozen by the ice and then the explosion hits all of them for big damage, it’s the way I’ve successfully killed them several times. but when you aren’t expecting them those things are TERRIFYING.
When I first saw this I got so scared but determined and end up killing it by waste my limited bombs. Imagine my surprise when Phantom Ganon shows up afterwards 😱
Gloom spawn are scary at first. I found them in the great plateau and I was like "NOPE NOPE NOPE"
My first encounter with them was after I managed to get into the Great Deku Tree. I have never been more terrified and enraged in my entire life.
I got ran up a tree like a cat
The literal meaning of running them hands. 😂
I love how a majority of them ended up in that one cave with the Rauru's Blessing shrine
Boy, when I got out they were right there 😢
I was holding a korak when they popped up on me...even the Korak was like "RUN!!!"
I remember my first encounter with the gloom hands. I have never screamed so much lol.
