  • As per request, in this video I show how to stack instruments from different SDX libraries using Toontrack's Superior Drummer 3. Especially how to deal with the different mics and routing options you need to consider when doing so.

    Mike! Perfect timing with this much-needed lesson. Quite creative and effective; I never would have thought to combine mics from different rooms like this.
    Welcome back. I fear we still won’t hear from you as much as before, but man, we’ll gladly take all we can get!

    Thanks again Mike. I had to watch this again to get a bit more clarity on stacking.

    Thank you very much for this. I ended up going through it a number of times (going back and forth from SD3) and now I'm able to take advantage of this amazing feature. Your tutorials are always so clearly laid out and succinct.

    Thanks Mike. I appreciate the depth of knowledge you have with this program and you explain it very well. It definitely helped me understand the routing much better and has given me some great ideas for programming. Maybe you can do a video on custom curves, dynamic range, and playability with e-drums....

    Thank you Mike for this tutorial. I want to start stacking drums for the kit I trigger at the church to get a beefier sound in FOH, so this was very helpful.

    Hello Luke. Do you have video showing how to add an instrument to set and how to properly route the mics and make a channel for it? Or is it basically the same as what you showed in the video above?

    Noob question but if I want, say, the EXACT sound of a snare, its processing and mics (from it's own library and one specific preset),
    with the EXACT sound of a bass drum from a different library (and preset/room/mics, obviously),
    Is there a way to put them together, in a single user preset,
    Or am I better off using 2 separate instances of SD within a DAW?
    *I'm assuming from 10:39 the answer is no, but I thought I'd ask anyway :)
    Thanks much

    great video wondering if anyone could answer a question I have to do with drum tracker, when converting audio drum track to midi it loads fine and creates a single midi of the entire drum track when I duplicate the track and try to assign kick, snare etc to each individual track the "apply to selected " tab is greyed out any help would be appreciated.

    can i turn off all drums but cymbals and then run a second track for drums/toms? I want to compress them differently so running 2 tracks sounds better

    • @exscape
      @exscape 3 года назад +1

      I'm still a beginner with SD3, but AFAIK you can simply create two buses, route the different microphones you want for each bus, and then add effects like compression to the buses.

    How do you save a stack? I saved one then when I opened it back come up the first instrument played but the second wouldn't. It was still in the stack but it wouldn't play.

    • @MikeLuke
      @MikeLuke  6 месяцев назад +1

      Each time you create a new instrument (e.g. adding a stack), you need to save this new setup as a preset. You can then always open and use this preset every time you open the software again
