It really shows what a game can look like when a focus on animation is applied. The speed seems slowed to really show the nuanced animation in there for each character to show off.
This is the level of animation polish that makes me hate how bad NRS animates in comparison. This game's animations really give me that sense of care and detail put in that I see in Arcsys games, most recently with Guilty Gear Strive and DB FighterZ.
Now this makes me think that Disney could do a similar fighting game since they own Star Wars, Marvel, and Pixar. Though I guess they already did a big crossover thing with Disney Infinity.
Everyone, you're forgetting the greatest Warner Brother characters: The Warner Brothers (AND the Warner Sister)! Seriously with the new Hulu series being fun, Animaniacs are a good fit!
Ben 10 is a character everyone, myself included, wants. But I just found out Lollipop Chainsaw was published by WB, so Juliet Starling is my number 1 right now
Characters I would love to appear: - Ed, Edd n Eddy - Johnny Bravo - Swat Kats - Billy & Mandy - Space Ghost - Green Lantern - Bane - Dexter - Courage - I’d say the Powerpuff Girls but they’d more or less base them off of the reboot - Fred Flintstone - George Jetson - Ben 10 To name a few
Holy crap the VA cast they have for this is insane. Seeing Matthew Lillard and John DiMaggio VA in this makes me especially happy since they VA in a lot of stuff I like.
The decision to get all the voice actors may have been made two years ago, but I'm 100% sure the decision to *_market_* the voices was made recently. Really, there would be no other reason to market the presence of something that's normally taken for granted (one way or another) without a competitor's failing making it an issue.
There's a decent chance that the voice talent would have been marketed anyway, if only to fight potential accusations of "eww, ftp cheapness", but I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if NASB's recent release caused them to market it **harder**.
exactly. he took the chat way too literally and missed how on the nose this trailer is regarding character voices. i mean they got the voice lines playing like every 3 seconds in between the guy talking. it's 1000% throwing shade at the nick smash game
Honestly this is a good thing. I think this would inspire Nick to throw money at the game to add voices now that they have a direct competitor in the "Animated properties fighting game" department
Fun fact: Warner Bros Japan owns the publishing rights to JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. Edit: the decision comes down to Shonen Jump and Araki, but the final say goes to the leader of the Multiversus project.
I've been wondering for years why none of the big publishers would try their hand at it, especially given that a lot of them have a good cast of characters to chose from. Now that Ultimate is complete people seem to jump on the opportunity. Fingers crossed that this leads to more decent to great games as alternatives.
2:50 While I agree with Max here, I feel the comments he's referencing are from the trailer itself heavily promoting their game having voice acting as a huge selling point. Kinda reminds me of E3 2013 where the PS4 "Supports Used games" or something along those lines. It's obvious it would be there from the beginning, but when their one competition didn't have it, they make it a big deal now.
Exactly. It wasn't a direct response, but they're making the smart move by putting an emphasis on something _they_ have that NASB doesn't. That's just good marketing.
Except for _Anya Stark_ who fits in about as well as the _Horizon Zero Dawn_ character in _Genshin Impact._ I think that they should of stuck to cartoon characters. Nobody gives a shit about GoT anymore (not after series 8). Should of had Yakko, Wakko and Dot.
I'm _very_ impressed by the artstyle overall. Unlike NASB or PASBR, all of these characters have been designed to feel like they belong in the same game. "Smashified", if you will.
The artstyle looks pretty good overall, but I didn't really liked bugs bunny, he looks... how can I say, too modernized? I assume this is his current design in animations somewhere, but I prefer the 90s bugs, I am a 90s kid, Space Jam was so cool (at the time)
@@RRRRRRRRR33 I don't have any problems with it. To me, Bugs Bunny always looked the same, but this does seem to give me vibes of that modern Looney Tunes show back in the day (great show btw).
It's the _Justice League_ animated series style. Bruce Timm's character designs were always amazing: I still think that he's the only person to ever design a decent _Supergirl_ costume, which doesn't just look like a lame Superman knockoff with a skirt. On that note, I hope that they put _Justice League Unlimited_ Supergirl and Black Canary in the game.

The potential for characters in this game is imo insane off the top of me head Warner Bros can potentially use characters from, Lord of the rings, the hobbit, mad Max, mortal Kombat, the matrix, Harry Potter, monsterverse, etc. And if we get into technicalities and Warner works some things out we could technically get characters from RWBY or even Jojo.

They could have slowed down the video for the trailer, but I wouldn't mind it being slower. I think having different games at different speeds can let people find one they jive with. Also, I really want Freakazoid and Marvin the Martian to show up.

My most wanted characters: 1. Ed Edd n Eddy 2. Ben 10 3. Godzilla 4. Austin Powers 5. Big Head a.k.a. The Mask 6. Beetlejuice 7. A Horror Movie Character
The most important thing about this is how they addressed the online features yes the shaggy memes are great. yes the voices are amazing but the fact they know ppl want good online netcode just shows how far we have come.
What made smash work was the attention to detail; from the music, to the stage designs, to the skins, the voice acting, items/Pokémon and the ecosystem around everything that makes bayo vs cloud seem regular. This game took all the right notes from smash.
I think they made a specific note of the voices on day 1 through the Twitter and stuff since it was SUCH a huge deal for nicktoons not having it. So why wouldn't you try and make a marketing point out of it lol that being said I do agree it no doubt was in works from get go just because nicktoons got so burned by it they wanted to focus on it for some marketing
Yeah, you sum it up pretty well. It's obvious that they had this game being made for a while, voice-over included, and now they're just capitalizing on the marketing, focusing on the points Nick Brawl failed.
@@MegamanX195 ya thats not what I'm saying either. I do agree that there is no way that makes any sense lol. It's just more of capitalizing on what you've clearly SEEN your main demographic respond too
@AT Productions People market the voice cast of their stuff all the time. Like the people making the Mario movie want to advertise that Chris Pratt is Mario, and the other celebrities they have, this game wants you to know they have Kevin Conroy and Maisie Williams. To say it’s a dig at Nicktoons just doesn’t seem like a certainty. Smash releasing the Sora announcement on Nick’s game release day has a higher likelihood than just telling people about the cast of a project.
Hope we see some pre-Adv Time CN characters. I want Powerpuff Girls like Pokemon Trainer, Billy & Mandy, Samurai Jack, Johnny Bravo, etc. Oh and Aqua Teen. I'm 100% sure Rick will be there but I want classic Adult Swim as well.
Two things to please Max: 1. Good Netcode 2. 60 FPS In all seriousness, let’s hope the game does well and gets polished up. I’m all for the multi-verse platform fighters.
If the game is actually slower paced, which it might not be, but if it is, I’m okay with that, heck even excited. I think comp platform fighters essentially being born from Melee has given people the idea that a comp platform fighter should be fast and it has to be in order to be sick and interesting as comp game. But I think it is important to have that place in the market for more methodical slower paced fighters, especially for a team based game, where your actions being both slower but also affect two people at least, is going to make each action feel so much more valuable or impactful to the rest of a match. Not saying I hate speed or high movement, I just think this could healthy and add diversity to the idea of a competitively interesting play fighter
Anyone who has played 2's with team attack on knows you aren't going full paced unless you are watching some tournament match with literal gods, the game being slowing could be a direct response to the heavily implied 2v2 focus. Tack on that there seems to be support characters and abilities it makes a lot of sense it wouldn't be some frantic beat-em-up pacing.
I was thinking they should do like Ultra Scared Shaggy where he dodges everything for limited time in goofy ways. But they went full on meme. Which is prob for the best.
I just love the more unified artstyle of the game. Every character looks so good. And the inclusion of skins is just a cherry on top. Can't wait to play it.
Heisenberg is a big part of the reason I became a resident evil fan and even I agree my mind automatically assumed a new MvC character would be Lady D out of anyone at all.
I'm looking forward to this, It looks interesting. With Ultra Instinct Shaggy. He's gonna be broken and probably the best character in the game. The fact they have Superman, Shaggy and so many other characters this is insane.
I'm gonna be honest. At first I was hyped for Nick Brawl like everyone, but that died fast. This simply has cohesive art direction that I'm more a fan of, as well as better overall presentation and animation quality. The VAs are the icing on the cake. Also, I'd personally rather play Harley and UI Shaggy over Spongebob and Ren & Stimpy.
First off: I might have the honor of Play-Testing this game! Super excited for that (again, it's a MIGHT) Second: when it comes to the roster, I want NOTHING more then to have BEN 10 in it! (Mainly the Omniverse version)
Honestly, I think base Ben 10 is going to be the reboot one, with alternative skins for the OG, Alien Force and Omniverse Bens, I sincerely hope base Ben 10 here is the OG, or that we have 2 different Bens, 1 for kid Ben and other for teen Ben
Well I feel like the chances of Nick All Stars hitting more players and getting more support got slightly diminished. Though tbh we have to see how the actual game plays
Well, I reached the same conclusion but not the same source of concern. The chances of NASB "hitting more players and getting more support" seems less now because the parallel competition, Multiverse, has A) an actual fucking budget, B) is free-to-play, and C) has the potential to go outside cartoons, comics and TV shows. Probably the best-case scenario is NASB getting a small niche community, like that one I saw in a documentary about artisanal cheese farmers.
@@jmason0622 yeah for real lmao, paramount or whoever was in charge of funding fucked nasb over big time and in turn ironically lost alot of potential money
Yeah, any hopes of NASB becoming the Smash of Western Animation have been thoroughly dashed. @@rinnnnnnnnnnrin the fact the publishers of the game went to smash players and told them to advertise their game not to talk about its downsides and hype it up as much as possible to the point they named it smash killer shows how much they fucked up
It looks pretty straightforward, at least from the outside perspective. The Nickelodeon game is more about the "technical" stuff, there's a lot of nuances to the gameplay and etc.. let's say it's like Virtua Fighter in a way, Smash is like Tekken. And this Warner game is following a "new" concept of cooperation gameplay. If it's "technical" or not, we can't judge yet, but as far as I know Smash never had mechanics like these, characters moves interacting with one another in beneficial ways, like Wonder Woman using her lasso to save her duo from falling and etc It looks interesting, usually these party games are all about the competitive side of things (which ends friendships), but this game is focusing on coop instead, neat
It's such a *weird* dissonant idea on paper but I will be the first to admit, I was wrong. This game looks actually kind of fun, and honestly more appealing than the Nick All Stars game and I like the character design aesthetic ( which seems to have been done to make all the characters to look like the belong together, which was smart)
With vast array of characters from DC, Looney Tunes, Hanna Barbera and other products it has a big potential. I always wanted to see a crossover between Tom and Jerry with Sylvester and Tweety or Batman and Blue Falcon.
I'm going to leave this hear as well. It's not just the budget. There are far more things that goes towards a successful game than just tons of money... If it was all about a huge budget, then indie games wouldn't of ever been successful in the slightest in the gaming industry. NASB focused on and banked on the niche competitive part of the smash melee/etc fan-base above everything else. Taking shots at Nintendo on social media... petty. They essentially watered everything down, including the characters most of all to simply as "functions" that can wave-dash and blah blah blah... Unlike NASB, they are actually focusing on including overall FUN and Co-op elements. Adding more than just dlc/update characters *BUT* more modes to play! That's akin to, if not simply just is, *a passion project.* That's a true road to success. Who knows how this will go, but I'm hoping they stay on this path.
I feel the gameplay may have been slowed down to show emphasis on character animations, but it’s the first trailer so that might straight up be how fast the game is
I thought I was going crazy thinking that it looked so slow lol I'm glad that you brought that up. Hopefully it was intentional for the trailer's sake.

Some other skins should be free unlockables. The game feels like every character is going to have their own type of powers kind of like Brawlhalla. The game is looking good. If they dont go crazy with the microtransactions the game will be a huge success.

It really shows what a game can look like when a focus on animation is applied. The speed seems slowed to really show the nuanced animation in there for each character to show off.
Yep the nicktoons trailers were so goddam fast and poorly edited. Couldn't make out wtf was going on in most if not all of them.
This is the level of animation polish that makes me hate how bad NRS animates in comparison. This game's animations really give me that sense of care and detail put in that I see in Arcsys games, most recently with Guilty Gear Strive and DB FighterZ.

"Bugs Bunny slapping around Batman or some shit" Should be on the back of the box.
Yeah, that's what I think. Why else would they make it such a big deal?
"And we have iconic voice talent" lol
I can imagine NASB creators crying inside
exactly. he took the chat way too literally and missed how on the nose this trailer is regarding character voices. i mean they got the voice lines playing like every 3 seconds in between the guy talking. it's 1000% throwing shade at the nick smash game
Honestly this is a good thing. I think this would inspire Nick to throw money at the game to add voices now that they have a direct competitor in the "Animated properties fighting game" department

I'm up for all of these studios making their own Smash clones, these kind of crossovers are always fun.
I've been wondering for years why none of the big publishers would try their hand at it, especially given that a lot of them have a good cast of characters to chose from. Now that Ultimate is complete people seem to jump on the opportunity. Fingers crossed that this leads to more decent to great games as alternatives.
I like Smash clone games because it's fun seeing beloved characters that we all know and love kicking each others asses
Tales of VS wasnt very fun from what I remember

2:50 While I agree with Max here, I feel the comments he's referencing are from the trailer itself heavily promoting their game having voice acting as a huge selling point. Kinda reminds me of E3 2013 where the PS4 "Supports Used games" or something along those lines. It's obvious it would be there from the beginning, but when their one competition didn't have it, they make it a big deal now.
Pretty much.
Exactly. It wasn't a direct response, but they're making the smart move by putting an emphasis on something _they_ have that NASB doesn't. That's just good marketing.

Yeah, you sum it up pretty well. It's obvious that they had this game being made for a while, voice-over included, and now they're just capitalizing on the marketing, focusing on the points Nick Brawl failed.
@AT Productions Max has a point tho, people think that they decided to add VA after Nick failed, and that makes zero sense
Smash releasing the Sora announcement on Nick’s game release day has a higher likelihood than just telling people about the cast of a project.

these two things should be the standard in any fighting game

I'm gonna be honest. At first I was hyped for Nick Brawl like everyone, but that died fast.

WB’s character base in animation alone is massive, but combine that with their willingness to bring in live action characters from fucking HBO’s shows and there just no competition.

I love that a lot of fighting games nowadays have character banter...
