Clone wars handled it best proving just how difficult the war was for everyone, the clones especially, with how often they lost the brothers they trained beside from birth. And the “lucky ones” that did endure and survive have nothing to show for it, merely just relics of a war that were discarded by Palpatine.

@@boneybaron2508 no doubt about that, losing so many brothers makes a vacation/Retirement very worthwhile. And also provides plenty of time to reflect on life, and likely even realize the Jedi they betrayed were never truly the villains, and that they were only programmed to believe that.

The Clones were given much more respect and a government they could actually believe because of palpatine Palpatine did all this for the worst possible reasons but from a clone's POV palpatine was the greatest thing to ever happen to them
I always loved that one clone made it out and started a family. I always felt sad for the one who was deserted on a planet and didn't even know the clone wars ended.
The deserter who started a family was Cut. The one who was left on a planet for several years is (I'm not sure who you're referring to here, but I assume it's Able, a Legends-only clone trooper who served under Shaak Ti.)
The clone who didn’t know clone wars ended was kicks and he knew about order 66 so separatists captured him but they crashed and he woke up years later in his pod after the clone wars had ended

You have to admit it makes the whole thing complicated. It’s easy to criticize the Kaminoans, Republic, the Jedi, and the Sith for how they use and treat the clones, but then you realize them, they wouldn’t even exist in the first place. A lot of clones might have viewed their service to the Republic as a way to pay back for being alive in the first place, though that might have made several not even be bothered by the fact they were never paid and always had to rely on the army for food and shelter. It always makes me wonder what would have happened to the clones of Palpatine had failed, but the Republic still won the war? I suppose eventually they would be decommissioned, but it wouldn’t happen as soon as it did in the Empire. First of all in such a timeline the whole Palpatine plot would have to be exposed for him to lose. So public opinion of the clones would fall whether or not they took the chip into account. Kaminoans would also get a hit on their popularity. For better or worse, I could imagine the Senate ordering the two species to stay on Kamino because they no longer trust them. The Republic was in the edge of becoming an empire and it would take years to reform to reverse everything. Instead of a new army being formed out of patriotism, the next generation of soldiers would be out of pragmatism since the Senate would probably be rushing to rid the Republic of internal threats. I do wonder if banishment would eventually lead to the Kaminoans and the Clones establishing a close relationship or if it would eventually erupt into the clones of the older generations launching a coup against the Kaminoan government.

I love how Geetslys is such a clone lives matter advocate. Really makes this feel real, like I'm in Star Wars protesting clone treatment, trying to gain support to address the Senate on the implications of clone slavery.
I've been thinking of presenting a clone adoption program to the Senate for a while now, but I have a feeling they'd reject it on the grounds that "they wouldn't be as effective soldiers"

If he hadn't turned into a one man war crime at the end of the war, he might have well done that. He wanted to become a Jedi so he could free slaves so it'd make sense that after the war was over they'd probably be one of his first priorities.
He did treat the clones under his command pretty well AFAIK.
Short answer, privilege. a lot of the downtrodden ones who didn't grow up with decent morals to uphold would quickly end up being washed over by any newfound privilege they've found. their past days as the ones being the oppressed, to these people, would become a drive for them to never again fall to such positions ever FOR THEMSELVES, instead of actually fighting to end the very oppression they've faced. you'd think that it's natural for the oppressed to sympathized with other oppressed people, yet history has taught us again & again, that a lot of oppressors actually started out as oppressed people as well.

I really wish that the clone wars delved more into the minds of clones who deserted because that season 2 episode is really interesting, but I feel like it barely touched the surface of what could've been a really cool aspect about the clones.
I agree, it would have been nice to see the life of a clone squadron that deserted instead of the stereotyped tv show we're getting soon of those mutant clones.

Something that the clones had that you didn’t mention is the gift of purpose. They knew exactly why they existed and why they fought. They didn’t have to worry about external struggles like money, food, shelter, etc... it’s a gift many of us still don’t appreciate or don’t understand.
The problem with that is that they all knew the war wouldn't last forever and we see them echo this sentiment often. Imagine the existential dread of knowing that if you fulfill your purpose, do your best and manage to survive, you'd be left with most of your life without one anymore. Especially for a being that's always had a purpose.

The “born to die” in the thumbnail is pretty accurate to a clone in a nutshell.
I feel bad for the poor shab'ike, they were literally slaves and the Jedi didn't do anything to help them in that sense, and on top of it all, they don't even live half as long as a normal person, even if they did survive combat.
The jedi has been reduced from a monastic organization seeking spiritual enlightenment & helping the downtrodden, to just a glorified overpowered police force of the republic, & with shit ridiculous rules at that. while the movies, being centered around the likes of Obi-wan kinda have us believe that jedi are in general like them, the truth is that they're actually the minority. the jedi, by the time of the clone wars, has gotten more interested in maintaining their numbers & preserving order for the republic, than actually helping people.

The Republic relied too heavily on Jedi intervention in missions because of a corrupt and ineffective police and security force.
There's lines here and there in the Clone Wars, where Clones said "it's okay, we're just clones." As if they were nothing but replacement parts.
The more I watch these videos about Star Wars lore the more I realize that the Star Wars universe isn't as family friendly as the advertisements would lead you to believe.

When I was younger seeing Star Wars my favorite characters were the Jedi but after the clone wars had come out the clones quickly became my favorite characters and even more so after I joined the military
I really wish more jedi generals were like Kenobi, Skywalker, and Plo Koon. Instead, most were like Pong Krell at worst, and at best just seeing clones as slightly better droids
or just didn't care in general and only cared about the mission.

I want a star wars game where you play as a regular clone, fighting droids and watching your comrades die right in front of you. By the end of your adventure you meet the same fate as your brothers.

Ok but you see that the Jedi cared about them: there’s many examples but I’m going to give one that not a lot of people my remember. When Ahsoka was left alone with Rex and just like 3 other troopers she decided to go after Grevious so they could escape, and when Rex found out he protested and wanted to go to help her but she said “that’s an order, Rex!” Not wanting them to potentially die or get seriously injured.
CIS Droids. Not all clones were combat focused; some were mechanics/engineers who worked on the starfighters (think U.S. Aircraft Carrier crews on deck). Thus, its probably a good idea to also explain what those Mouse droids on Mustafar were doing in “Revenge of the Sith”…

This reminds me of my time in the Army Infantry. Train for 7 months learning dicipline, doing shooting drills, weapons maintenance, bay maintenance, weapons classes, eating same food everyday, and then going to bed for the remaining 7 hrs of your day. If you do have an hour to kill your told to do something productive. Then you go to your unit and it's the same thing with the ability to have your phone when not busy and go off base, but that can be taken away from you if your a bad soldier. And your told not to engage in politics, well more like keep it to yourself. It sounds like a bad life but some people need it and absolutely love it.
You see, the clones are trained all their life for battle but if you _really_ think about it, they've never actually been in a battle before so they are actually inexperienced whereas the Droids were already programmed to be in a battle but the clones were still able to beat them.

I’d like to believe that part of why Rex was able to fight back was because he learned from Anakin that following orders is not always the right course of action, while the chip in the clones always had them repeating “good clones follow orders”. In that headcanon, it also makes sense why Cody couldn’t fight back-Obi-Wan’s style was usually to question things silently and mull them over rather than outright reject them (with a few exceptions).
I think he learned mostly from Fives’ but yeah Anakin inspired all of 501st.

The thing is that, while to you and I a life of constant drills and military training sounds awful, the clones probably enjoyed it. Yes, a good part of that is because they were brainwashed and never knew anything different, but it's also deeply satisfying and, yes, even fun to do something you're good at in the company of people you love.

Spend all your life training to become the best of the best then you get to go to your 1st battle. You load into the LAAT and as you head in the trooper next to you says “good thing those bugs can’t aim” then boom your gunship gets hit and you fly out of the troop hold to fall to your death.
I love the clones, they deserve better, they sacrifice their selves which makes me grieve for their troubles. I would gladly take in a group of clones if I was in star wars and treat them like family. And synce they are all brothers they are loyal to each other and that's how I like people. They should have a full right.

I love the clone wars content man! The clone wars is my favorite subject of Star Wars!
Something I've wondered: The Republic already had people of higher military ranks, such as Captain Tarkin, (who, as I understand, retired from military service, then returned due to the war), etc. Therefore, I wonder this: The Republic likely had at least a small military before the war, but not a "GRAND Army of the Republic". This likely included a few million privates (This is, after all, an intragalactic batallion, after all. I've always assumed the clones numbered in the billions.) How did the existing grunts meld with the sudden influx of clone troopers at their side? How did the clone troopers deal with them? Were they all decommissioned or did they fight along side the clone troopers?
From my understanding of the legends lore:
The republic didn’t have an official military but most planets did and they were recognized by the republic. Even companies had armies/militia since they need local enforcement (ie: trade federation).
When the clone wars started most of the planets that stayed with the republic kept their armies and folded them into the grand army. The clones were more like marines and would be the first in an assault as well as being used for defense of critical infrastructure. So if the CIS invaded a system that planets army would fight them until the clones showed up to continue it if they really had to. There were billions of clones but being spread across a galaxy meant that they were mostly only used for the really important battles and invasions.
That’s my understanding. If you ask Lucas he said there were like a million clones that fought with no normal life forms beside them. Which is pretty stupid when considering how big an entire galaxy is :/

Its truly disturbing to see the true implications of a clone troopers life in general. Its depressing they were good men who deserved freedom and better lives.
So essentially the experience of the movie "Soldier"?
The clone wars series rarely showed the bad side of clone lives, it did show they were all brothers in arms that every clone who died was another loss but it didn't show every droning moment of their lives every drill every exercise... I can only note of two times maybe when the clone wars series actually showed the bad side one with the new recruits on Rishi and I can't remember the other. Even Clone 99 was one of their brothers despite being defective. The whole reason Commander Cody Jokes with Captain Rex when they land on Rishi shows just how bad their life is that they have to joke about every thing they do.
It's not often the master let's you decorate your own chains.
My brother and I have Star Wars Lego sets, and a few sets have clones. Since neither of us are even 12, we don’t go into these deep subjects with the clones and ultimately give them pretty easy lives, or at least better ones than they would get in the clone wars. So I think people should treat any clone characters of theirs well.

This is why I like Captain Faro Argyus from the Clone Wars show. He may have been a traitor to the republic, but now that we know how messed up the war was for clones (and everyone), was it any wonder that a _non-clone_ soldier like Argyus jumped at Dooku's offer to leave the republic and better his life "beyond empty servitude"?

Do the average life of Battle Droids. Several kinds would be nice too as B1 could get assigned to all kinda of tasks while I've never seen a B2 on the command deck of a warship or piloting a vehicle.
Let’s not forget the Battle of Umbara, where you essentially were lied to by an authoritative figure, to kill your friends and brothers then watched as your general betray you and slaughter 100s of you.
No wonder one became a feared crime lord, and another knocked up a Padawan!
