Geetsly's Question, I was a under the impression that the elite soldiers in the original clone wars show were regular arc troopers over the null arcs, being led by Fordo, not Ordo. I ask because you used pictures from the clone wars show, showing the arcs and labeling them with the null arcs names at 8:46
The bad batch is super cool but I would much rather have a series about the commandos or the nulls personally
They’re unique in their own way, the bad batch is a great option because they’re more than just clones. I’d love to see a series that changes squads of commandos every few episodes or every season in order to keep it fresh

I agree. Personally not a fan of the bad batch. Feel it takes away from the normal Jango template clones and takes away from the best we have seen like the Nulls and Delta Squad and how bad ass they are. Just takes their spot and shows them up. Like they are clones but they dont have the look or feel. All of them look like random dudes who made their living as badasses and then came together as a squad. They could have just done Null ARCs instead of this Bad Batch bs. Just takes away from what they already had. Make a new and completely useless team. Like why not use that arc to show off Delta Squad or Nulls or something we havent seen. Nah heres a squad of a bunch of rando clones. Trash tbh. Hated it.

when i first read her book i fell in love with the null almost instantly they are amazing and when i try talking about them no one know them and its sad because of who they are and what they did :(

She would‘ve liked to continue her series and even make it into a show no doubt, but she wouldn‘t let the people who were in charge at LucasArts back then change the essence of her novels. If they‘d gotten their wish Ordo and his brothers would be PG-13 and nothing more than empty husks of what they‘re supposed to be.

@@marckrieger3277 which ironically adds to the reasons why we should get a show featuring the Nulls. That's a perspective we who have read the books have, but no one else does. Ideally, we'd get a series shot like the Mandalorian - small set, mostly done in Unreal, with some very up close and personal action. A Republic Commando series could totally achieve that, and simultaneously target a more mature audience. These books are just begging to be made into a tv show.
Disney is the real perpetrator, they always have been! Travis had a chance to save her clones from ruination and she took it, if kal was their dad, then travis was their mother the situation was shitty but she did what she could!

I'm sad that the Karen Traviss Commando series got cancelled. Though the Clone Wars show was good, I still might've preferred that the book series to be Canon.

This novel series is imho a thousand times superior to the TCW we got.

KIBUKAJ I like to fit it into my head canon, which is mostly Disney canon with a few sprinklings of legends. Omega, delta, and the bulls are canon, and Star killer is an inquisitor.
Honestly, it can very well be canon. Most of it is characters that aren’t used anywhere else and all the events fit into the clone wars fine
Reason Disney didn't like the null ARC's and replace them with the Bad Batch is they needed to sell toys and appearance wise the bad batch has more variety.
I still like the Nulls better they had more personality rather than a gimmick Disney wants to sell.
But the bad batch came out before Disney purchased it... they have unfinished episodes where they come out and in fact Disney remastered their whole Arc.
To be fair the fucked up ARC Troopers in general in the show pretty good. Alpha and Null Classes are the only real ARCs

He had zero respect for Travis and her stories when making TCW (which had zero respect for pretty much everything that predated it) so makes you think he has any respect for her characters? He doesn’t. Filoni hated the EU!!!!! Imo TCW was the Sequel Trilogy before the Sequel Trilogy in terms of continuity and quality.
These clones are Mandalorians in all but name basically. I love their stories especially Kal in Bloodlines alongside Boba Fett. He has a super cool part in that book which relates directly to Co Si and her work. I doubt I spelled her name right but whatever. The Clone Wars fits really well into that story imo.

This begs the question, how much of the Clone Wars did the Nulls actually get to see?
Did they see all the horrible things both sides did, including the treatment of Clones? Or did they all see a little of the good and compassionate side, as seen by how some Clones, mainly the 501st, 212th, and Wolf Pack were treated by their leaders?
And how did all of this color their views on everything?
ZexalBrony479 the Nulls definitely knew that not every Jedi treated their troops like dirt, but in their opinion that didn’t make the clones‘ enslavement any less of a crime (I gotta agree with that). They wanted none of it , which is why they only listened to Kal Skirata and no other being.

I wish we had gotten Traviss‘ version of clone troopers in a more mature TV show that tackled death and especially the enslavement of the clone troopers in-depth instesd of the children‘s show with a gust of mature themes sprinkled in.

I'd personally argue the Alpha ARCs were the closest to a pure jango fett clone as jango trained the Alpha's himself, the Null's were more like Kal Skirata but instead they look like Jango Fett.
I recently read the Star Wars novel Order 66. It has to be one of my favorite Star Wars novels alongside the Thrawn Trilogy.
Hugh Hammons it provided something I have always wanted to see: Order 67, and _not_ from the perspective of a Jedi!
These are some of the best Star Wars soldiers and characters I have ever met, thank you very much for showing me these fascinating clones

They were known as Covert Ops Clone Troopers and were a extremely secretive subject of the clone assassins. They reported only to The Supreme Chancellor and ABSOLUTELY NO ONE else.

I hear Traviss was involved with writing the legacy novels, which focused on Han and Leia‘s children, who wanted to stop one of their siblings turning evil or something. And to train the girl Jaina went to Mandalore to train with the best Jedi Killers next to the Sith, where she also met people from Clan Skirata! Haven’t read it myself, but there is more of Clan Skirata‘s fate sprinkled in there.
I am extremely glad that you have made this video going in depth about the Null class ARC Troopers. There is hardly and videos out there about them at all. Even for the few that talk about them just gloss over them very briefly. Finally glad that you are giving them their due Geetsly.
I am also super hyped because I just got the entire Republic Commando Novel series. I read the books a couple of years ago, borrowed them from the library. But now I can say I actually own the books. Definitely going to be reading them soon when I have an off day. So thank again for reminding me why I love this series by Karen Traviss.

I read the novel, and I agreed with his assessment.
You have it so back words. Travis didn't cause the continuity errors but the other writers that took over after she quit writing SW books because of the Disney Buyout. Once she left the writers of the Clone Wars show had to change the whole mando backstory to fit what Disney wanted to do once they fully owned the rights to SW.
Guess who else is underrated? Clone Commandos...need to give them more love please, Dave Filoni.

Silent Assassins. Kal threatened the Kaminoan that said they were gonna be disposed(Damn Aiwha Baits). Uruetii Disney decanonized these later turned Mando ade clones. First Filoni fucked them. Traviss left for that. Disney fucked it up even more ( only exception was the The Mandalorian series). Fierfek! .Clones were like the New Mandalorian army 2.0. One of them called Ko Sai mom. I dont care if it contradicted The Clone Wars we began to love they could've connect it in a correct way to the series. Karen needs to finish the final chapter of her series and release it as a fan fic. There's gotta be a way to convince her. Even if it pisses Disney off its proof that legends mandalorians and clones were better. In canon they're kinda good like Rex, Echo, Wolffe and others. Jango in a way got gis revengebagainst the Jedi for what happened to him and his Mando ade in Ghalidraan. Mandalorians serve no one . We were few in number but we made the Republic tremble beneath our feet. We can live without tecnology. We turn our children into warriors. Our beskar gan is history. We accept anybody in our clan. We bury alive our enemies and make unimaginable terror to those who threatened us and our families. We are the sons of Mandalore. The Taung made us. Declare war on us and its a death sentence. Its not a threat its a promise. Kote Darasuum.

My favorite park of order 66 was when a jedi walked into the base asked the nulls for a bottle of booze and a blaster and to be left alone

Null ARCs are my favorite because they're the product of putting my two favorite Star Wars characters together. That being Mandalorians and clone troopers.
Even though we already have the Bad Batch, I’d still love to see the Cuy’Val Dar, Kal Skirata, the Null ARCs and others brought back into Canon.
Traviss was stingy with her story, but you forgot what really happened. The Clone War tv show and Filoni decided to rewrite the Mandalorians and their history, effectively removing her entire work from canon. THAT was Filoni thinking he knew better and not allowing any trace of Karen’s work to be involved. That is why she quit Star Wars. And honestly, who could blame her? Show her some respect. She created probably the best original arc of the entire legends era.
Lucasfilm gave final approval, and it was karmatic justice for what Traviss did to Mara Jade in Sacrifice.
Guess who also didn't get any forewarning that something they put into the universe and was beloved by much of the fandom was suddenly killed off?
Timothy Zahn. The man who essentially *saved* Star Wars as a cultural icon by kickstarting the EU's massive surge of comics, games, supplementary materials, roleplaying systems, and novels with the Thrawn Trilogy's success before George came in with the Prequels.

@@nikitalarionov8247 It was that Mara Jade was abruptly killed off in the book by Jacen in a decision that was made without Timothy Zahn's input (Which he was upset about given Mara Jade was created by him and he was totally left in the dark by Lucasfilm and Del Ray and thus there is the implied expectation that communication was supposed to be involved when Star Wars writers used the characters and reference the works of other Star Wars writers, something corroborated by forwards in numerous novels and comic compilations), and involved Mara Jade trying to hunt down Jacen Solo alone. Having never read the book personally, I wouldn't know of the exact details that are viewed as controversial though.
@@hyperiongm330 So. What you're saying is that in sacrifice, Traviss killed off Mara Jade without asking for Timothy Zahn's permission, correct? This resulted in many fans of Mara being upset by the way of how Mara was treated in the book and the way she died, including Timothy Zahn, correct?
@@nikitalarionov8247 That is largely the case, but the sticking point for Zahn in particular was the fact that nobody told him *anything* about that plot element until the book came out, Lucasfilm okayed it without his input, Karen Traviss wrote it without his input, and Del Ray communicated nothing even though he'd asked them to do so.
Whether or not this was Traviss's doing or production's fault is irrelevant at this point, the result was a fan favorite character suddenly dead, Zahn being understandably irritated at the least, and a lot of fans being far angrier that one of their favorite characters was dead for a plot arc they honestly hated. In essence it was an earlier version of the entire fiasco regarding Luke in TLJ, but far lower key given it was a novel rather than a film.
Hence why I view what happened with TCW as karmatic, as Lucas himself may very well have okayed the changes to the Mandalorians done by Dave Filoni during season 2 given how close he was to the show's production. It's just that Traviss took it far worse than Zahn (who still writes novels for Star Wars and provides creative input) did, even though retcons could've and rather easily did rectify the discontinuity until the shift to nu canon made it irrelevant.
arc trooper.. short for advanced reconnaissance commando. thats generally what people think of when they hear the phrase republic commando. although the deltas were also karen traviss's creation.
The clones on the pics of the original clone wars series of 2003 don't show the Null-ARCs but Cpt. Fordo, who is a regular ARC Trooper...
Fordo, Ordo and other clone captains had the same Red-Trimmed Print on their armor before the changed their armor to phase 2 atleast.
Tbh I don't blame Karen Travis for not letting other people use these characters, if they did, more than likely they would have been watered down in order to target younger viewers. These characters are right just the way they are.
I mean... as a Halo fan, I kind of can? It's hypocritical to say the least as Travis had zero issue with taking characters written by other people and who've been established presences for years and then using them as a skinsuit for her ideas and agendas. The Glasslands series was.... difficult to read as a Halo fan as that's precisely what she did, so I find it very hard to find that sort of sympathy for Travis as a writer.
If she'd played ball and left the characters in that universe as they were instead of co-opting them to push her own personal agendas while trying to rewrite/reframe a universe she'd clearly done little to no research for I'd agree much more with your take on it, but as things currently stand and with how she's responded to criticism of any sort over the years I simply can't.
Don't get me wrong, I very much liked the Republic Commando novels and own all of them - read to the point they're sadly starting to fall apart - but I can appreciate a work of art separate from the author's actions elsewhere.

I read the book sadly they didn’t find sev yet or very many other MIA’s niner and the other clone commandos would have been nice too actually I wanted to see a whole story ark of ark troopers and another dedicated to commandos in the clone wars but we did not get it and clan skirata should get its own series that takes place during the galactic empire rise to fall and have them rescue fellow clones looking for sev doing bounty hunter contracts and have flash backs too the cloning facility and to past missions that involve the clones they help in the present day too that would be awesome
I wish more clones used the AR looking DC15 that we see in some of the art in this video

operative arc trooper which a phase 1 helmet with the orange markings and my nickname would be ruckus and I would primarily use a minigun and two clone blaster pistols
