      That’s an extremely disingenuous statement in regards to Palpatine’s character. Were there threats to him? Not a lot, but definitely a few. Was he ‘scared’ or ‘misunderstood’? Absolutely not. Palpatine was a strategic genius, a master manipulator and very powerful. You don’t get as far as he did without completely understanding the enemy and knowing your strengths and weaknesses and playing towards those. He may have been wary and conscious of the threats, but I don’t think he was ever scared or misunderstood.

      Considering that the Senators of the time were mostly unarmed politicians trapped in a confined space that could be easily sealed off with a coordinated action by troopers that could blend into with the troopers meant to be there with no one noticing it would be about as hard for a force of ARC Troopers to take out the Senate as it is for a dirtbag today to take out McDonald's or third grade class with an assault rifle. Honestly the regular troopers could have done that as well at any point during the Clone Wars but then Palps would have had to deal with negative public reaction and the still very present Jedi Order that would suddenly have the backing of the people while he's now outed himself. As it was it took almost thirty years after the end of the Clone Wars before he was secure enough that he thought he could get away with dissolving the Senate.

    I feel like they cheapened Order 66 a bit by having control chips. Clones willingness to commit order 66 was supposed to be a culmination of things:
    Clones didn’t particularly like Jedi as leaders and felt that it was stupid to hav pacifists in charge of armies
    The order 66 itself stipulated that the Jedi had made an attempt to steal control of the government, making them dangerous. It wasn’t just “kill Jedi just because” it was “kill Jedi because they’ve committed treason”.
    And
    It meant that clones couldn’t have true character development of actively choosing to delay or ignore the order because it was just devolved to overcoming a control chip. There was no real active choice, removing the true weight of Order 66.
    It also took away from Arc Troopers and Commandos, who were actually considered wild cards in Palpatine’s plan. Many chose to allow their Jedi to escape, but still stayed within the empire, or they were recruited to clan Skirata.
    All of which is better than the Filoni-fied way of making the whole ordeal less mature and more child-tv

I remember Jesse and Hardcase taking orders from Fives when they were infiltrating the dreadnought ship and he was also delegated as the leader for the second group that Rex divided before moving through the gorge.
      Even Echo in his short period of becoming an ARC trooper was able to make battle plans with Rex which eventually the rest of the clones used and countered especially against on the battle of Anaxes shows how significant Echo was.

    Sidious’s reasons for hating the ARC Troopers are major reasons for why *I* think the Inhibitor Chips were a better idea than what Legends gave us. When working with Jedi, especially, let alone for as long of a time as the duration of the Clone Wars, it’s easy to form a bond, one strong enough to later make somebody consider disobeying an executive order, even one that’s important to a Sith Lord like Order 66 was. The Inhibitor Chips were the perfect counter to any willful behavior. It’s a wonder why so many people hate the idea of the Clones having Inhibitor Chips and think it’s so dumb. Seems pretty fitting to me that Sidious would want something that’d absolutely ensure the completion of the most important part of his plan. Without the Jedi destroyed, he can’t assume power as Emperor.

    • @thirdplanet4471
      @thirdplanet4471 Год назад +1

      Interesting point. I admit I'm not really on either camp as I see the chips having theor own purpose especially incase bonds were formed. On the other hand if bonds weren't formed and the clones grew to despise the jedi then the chips wouldn't matter.

    • @teleportedbreadfor3days
      @teleportedbreadfor3days Год назад +1

      @@thirdplanet4471 The Jedi are generally too nice and caring to hate. I know some weren’t but still. Some Clones did wind up disliking or even overall hating the Jedi but it wasn’t enough to wipe out the whole Order with. Appo was actually one such Jedi critic that comes to mind, though his reasons for disliking the Jedi were different than what some of his brothers usually felt, and it was because he felt the Jedi acted like they were invincible by wearing robes in the battlefield instead of armor and doing charges. I honestly can’t recall off the top of my head right now what other known Clones disliked their Jedi Generals and their reasons, so I’m sorry for that.

    • @thirdplanet4471
      @thirdplanet4471 Год назад +1

      @@teleportedbreadfor3days I can agree with you there as it does seem that overall the jedi weren't terrible to the clones. I just think that perhaps there may be more nuance in the matter as the clones may have felt shocked or betrayed at a possible jedi coup and they would be forced to respond (some clones were also probably a "follow orders no matter what" mentality) and some individual jedi who did not treat their clones well like Quin lan vos, Pong krell, and Ki adi mundi would have earned the ire of the clones. I also think it would be interesting from a non inhibator chip view if the clones would split into obey vs disobey as the chaos that would follow would be legendary. Regardless thanks for opening my mind

      The chips where an uneccery addation to an already convoluted clone wars plot.
      The clones where solders geneticly engineered with fast growth, obediance and condition to obey from birth.
      They would carry out orders simply because refusing orders would never occure to them.
      The chips make the most interesting part of the clone troopers.
      There conditioning to obey irelevant by going: Nope.
      We just take away there free will like there a bunch of driods.

    If the historical accuracy of Spartacus (and even the fiction films) is at all accurate, I suppose we could compare The Clones to Roman Gladiators in many aspects.
    They believed in "The Brotherhood" they all belonged to, by virtue of their "profession" and their training in a number of ways was similar as well.
    Of course, gladiators were not soldiers, so their personal independence was acceptable, as long as it didn't contravene the wishes or demands of 'The House' they served.
    I can understand the Kaminoan's frustrations with the ARC Troopers and such 'misfits' as The Bad Batch and a few Commando Units but thankfully, for us (the audience) at least, their independent natures gave us some of the best damn stories from The Clone Wars and Rebels... :)

    What if scenario; fives takes what hes learned to the other commandos, believing their position puts them in a better place to help him. So the kaminoans have to some how keep a bunch of commandos from explaining what's up to shak shak ti. Or following the rabbit hole all the way down through palpatines front door. Mass clone revolt? Commandos snipe the chancellor? Windu rolls up with a pair of LAATi gunships full of z6 toting commandos?

  • @JosephDawson1986

    I always felt the inhibitor chip explaination of canon was a cop out and poorly done. I mean Rex has the inhibitor chip, he fights it because Asoka wasn't a Jedi when Order 66 was given she was just a civilian Force user. The compliment of the 501st with her and Rex knew she wasn't a Jedi anymore, which is partly why Rex was able to resist the order until Asoka could remove his chip, but at the same time the rest of the compliment fully intended to enact Order 66 on Asoka. So this leads me to believe one of 3 likely scenarios...
    Scenario 1: Order 66 described Jedi as anyone with a Lightsaber
    Scenario 2: they had a list of Jedi names and descriptions that didn't change so even if a Jedi left the Order they would be recognised as Jedi thus eliminating the need for clarification later on
    Lastly Scenario 3: Order 66 was contingent on killing all force users except those as designated by Palpatine which is likely as in one of the comics I recall a trooper shooting Vader claiming he was a Jedi before anyone told him no that Vader was Palpatine's representative to the 501st at the Jedi Temple.
    Also was there a time frame for Order 66? Canon seems inconsistent one instance is Commander Grey Ct10/994 who executed the order and even hunted Caleb Dume in the end questioned why they blindly followed the order and acted to allow Dume to be rescued the second in the Obi Wan show when he mets a clone veteran.
