I was there. It was cold, wet and windy but it didn't matter. The show was epic, the sound was huge and the visuals spellbinding. Such a privilege to see JMJ at his peak.
I agree :) But I like, what Francis Rimbert is doing because he is the man, who they call Sequencer man :) He plays very fast I have noticed from some of JMJ songs and tracks :) I'm wondering what Francis Rimbert is playing on his bottom Synth/Keyboard on this song :) I know he is playing Violins sound on his upper Synth/Keyboard, but is it Analog Chop he is playing on his bottom Synth/keyboard, which is a sound from Roland D-50 :) I have wondering about that part for years :/
8th of October 1988, best night of my life with my pants on, and I was only 15 at the time and hadn't had them off yet. Stunning concert. Pissed wet though at the end but who cares??? What a great night.. And you're right lostinbass4, Mansfield was shocking, the entire footage should be given to someone who knows what their doing. Re-mastered an re-released
Take note all the so called stars of today even when its really bad weather you have to go out and perform, you cannot send everyone home...kudos! Jean Michel!
@davewilson1969 Maybe Jarre doesn't play at these concerts but it is his artistic talent that creates these masterpieces, he is the one that has put all the work into them and made them come alive. The Philharmonic Orchestra don't get the credit when they play the 1812 Overture, Tchaikovsky does. The labourers and grafters don't get the credit for St. Pauls Cathedral, Sir Christopher Wren does. Geiss, Rimbert and Perrier did not compose these extravaganza's, Jarre did.
I have still my Technics KN200 keyboard, with one missing key on it hehe, but if I have lots of money someday I want to buy some new Synths, such as Korg Oasys and Korg Krome with JMJ soundbanks, but maybe I want to buy some older Synths/keyboards with sound, which have been used on JMJ cd albums, such as Roland D-50 etc :) Here is some sounds from Roland D-50 which was used in some of JMJ cd albums :) Albums which use ROLAND D-50 : • Revolutions > London Kid Kokubostrings > Tokyo Kid Octave Synth Bass (demo by Per Kristian) > Computer Week-end Ocean Scenario > L'émigrant / The Emigrant Gurgel Strings > Révolution Industrielle / Industrial Revolution : Overture Machine Run > Révolution Industrielle / Industrial Revolution : Part 1 Kokubostrings > Révolution Industrielle / Industrial Revolution : Part 2 Analog Chop > Révolution Industrielle / Industrial Revolution : Part 3 Griitttarr 2 (demo by David Filskov) > Revolution, Revolutions Slap bass
Something about Industrial Revolution : - "Révolution industrielle: Ouverture" (Track 1): you can clearly hear a modified version of the Geerdes "Machine Run" patch as rythmic loop FX in the introduction. Roland PND-50-01 "Griitttarr 2" patch is used as a lead sound. Orchestral strings are played using PA-Decoder "ORCHESTER PHILAMON" patch: MP3 demo
I don’t believe it’s a backing track. 1st- as long as the song is completely made out of electronic sounds, you can apply the samples on keyboards and manual machines, hence making it sound as round as the original soundtrack. 2nd- The drum samples here differ from the original track although both sounds were provided by electronic drums. So, even if were a backing track, I’m 100% sure that the Simmons kit is turned on.
it would be crazy to play in the rain with the instruments plugged in, you can easily get electrocuted. I have a feeling they had to use a prerecorded track considering the conditions
@davewilson1969 Plus 80% of the synths sounds on the whole album are from the Roland D50. Jarre at the very most is triggering MIDI events rather than hitting actual notes. The logistics of playing all the album live would have been a nightmare back in 88. As an example the clip of the guy hammering pipes etc at the beginning of this clip is miming to the Machine Run preset on the D50. When I saw this back in 88 I was amazed, now I know how it's done I'm seriously underwhelmed.
Jarre may well write the music, but in these big shows he doesnt actually play much. Shame that he gets all the fame and glory. Everyone has heard of Jean Michael Jarre, but who's heard of Michael Geiss? Frances Rimbert, or dominique perrier? Check out the guy in the turbon and look at his hands. This is Dominique Perrier playing a yamaha KX-5 and thats is who you are listening to, not Jarre who's at the front of the stage taking all the credit for whats is in fact a "group".
Of course Jarre is miming his a**e off. If you note it's rances rimbert (with the turbon) who is actually playing the lead ona modified Yamaha KX-5. You will notice this in most Jarres videos, if you watch Michael Geiss and Francis Rimbert inthe background, their hands synch perfectly with the musc. Jarre may well write the music, but in these big shows he doesnt actually plays much
I was there. It was cold, wet and windy but it didn't matter. The show was epic, the sound was huge and the visuals spellbinding. Such a privilege to see JMJ at his peak.
I envy you .. What a crowd it must have been .. I was only 7, had just got my hands on the cassette.
Me too!! It was torrential !!!
Just kept wondering how he wasn’t getting electric shocks!
I was there. It was wet and miserable but the music made it worthwhile
Why the hell doesn't he make music like this calibre anymore, so much talent and passion
Alexander Thomas he said with the increasing amounts of terrorist attacks it isn't worth the risk
My dad uploaded some footage of this particular concert. He happened to record up to revolutions revolution. He was about half a mile away.
I was there. Unforgettable.
I was there too , weather was dreadful. We didn’t know if the gig was on or off . In the end “” Brilliant “
I was there I remember the rain, that was soon forgotten. Was not a fan before but my eyes were opened. Simply genius. What a show.
JMR is the music genenius. And this is awesome .

I was there 1st night and no rain - amazing and still wells me up now - I was 16 - saw again in 1997 and 2007 - prob why I'm a music teacher x
This piece is Timeless!

Adoro Jean Michel Jarre!! Vendo e 27/05/2021.
I was there..............best thing ever since best things.
The guy with the turban and the keytar is Dominique Perrier. Frances Rimbert is the bloke with the hat.
Dominique looks so awesome here.... Piercing eyes
The drummer, Jo hammer, michel giess playing the thing with the round buttons, guy delacroix on bass.....can't remember blonde goatie man's name
@@Poekoe1975he looked bored in the Paris concert
@@Waylander173 Sylvain Durand; him and Dominique both passed a few months ago
@@sonconmas was gutted to hear that, I liked Dominic in particular , he was brilliant in this concert
Synthesizershizzle uit de Jaren '80 en geniet er nog steeds van! Jean Michel Jarre met zijn Industrial Revolution-suite
One of the best songs ever.
One of Jarre's finest compositions. Incredible performance from Dominique Perrier too.

I was there too for two nights in a row, the first I front of him playing the laser harp , really a privilege to have been there
I was there both days... The first was so good, slept in the car and paid a local gym to use the facility. Was fantastic
What an epic performance! 😲
Thanks for uplading this. I was there in the rain too. What a night. The man is a genius.
The mix was on live at this moment! What a performance!

I was there very very wet rained all day we were Qing from midday to get in!
would love for him to come back to london and do another concert
Thx for the inspirational Jarre!
It was fab mate!
4:22 is my favourite part
I can't see which part he's playing, the light up keys don't synch to any part of the music....
I was there. awesome!
The best
It crtainly was amazing live when I was 16 x
Anyone who doesn’t have hairs standing up on the back of their neck at the beginning of part 2 needs to check their hearing.
Какая прекрасная музыка, согласитесь со мной

Albums which use ROLAND D-50 :
• Revolutions

Kokubostrings
> Tokyo Kid
Octave Synth Bass (demo by Per Kristian)
> Computer Week-end
Ocean Scenario
> L'émigrant / The Emigrant
Gurgel Strings

Griitttarr 2 (demo by David Filskov)

Slap bass
At 4:55-4:56 you can hear a new sound playing, which is from Roland D-50 named Analog chop :)

Hello Trond :) Are you from Norway? I'm from Aalesund in Norway :) Han med Turbaen på denne videoklippet heter Dominique Perrier :)
I was nice memo 1988
I was there - the first night - didn't rain that night.
Can anyone tell me...what part of part 2 is he is playing when he hits the light up keys.....ive never managed to see what it synchs to
Roland D50 !
4:48
R.I.P Dominic perrier and sylvain durand
overtura: industrial revolution 1,2,3
Its a bit wet tonight!
London Kid song, Hank Marvin "yes I know but this is England"
What I don't quite understand is how comes all the electric gear didn't short out or explode? Water and electric are a pretty dangerous combination!
They weren't switched on.........
So this was all done to a backing track?!
It certainly sounds very like the studio version to me.
