  • ‪@MerlinsOldSchoolGarage‬ and ‪@jetskijim007‬ put the final touches on the cars maintenance before starting the 2,300 mile road trip back to Arizona. They are going to need a road crew for this trip starting out, so ‪@PieceNGrease‬ come along as back up. Some of the continuous problems mean this could be a really long journey. We pay a special visit to ‪@corywheatcustoms‬ to check out some of his current builds and go for an evening hot rod cruise. You don't want to miss this! Follow along the adventure!
Special Thank You to ‪@industrialinjection‬ for sponsoring me on this road trip.

Yeah that would be best but in midwest it can be problematic finding it. You have to seek it out, when close to boating areas you can find it. The fuel in IL. is almost always E10 at least. I could fuel up in KY drive up there not needing to refuel until leaving but have to fuel up twice on way back due to ethanol in fuel. I'd lose 10-15% mpg at least. The ethanol will definitely break loose everything in fuel system.

As someone who sees green and flatness all the time i always enjoyed driving anything west of denver. As far as the car goes super cool, we have The Henry Ford museum and Greenfield village, look up "old car festival" Greenfield village. The old village with 1800s era homes have roads full of early 1900s vehicle's. The show is this September. Id be surprised if this didn't perk your interest just a little.

As a Brit living in the UK 🇬🇧 ,where the wearing of seat belts in front and back of cars is compulsory, I am amazed that you choose not to wear belts, where they’re fitted, on public roads 🤔 It was also disappointing to see Jimmy do up a belt behind him to stop the car reminder alarm😳 Did you know Michelle from Fab Rats was saved by her belt when she had a head on crash!!!
Even if it wasn’t compulsory over here I’d still wear them all the time - I’ve seen the results of no seat belt crashes 😉😊

Anyway, he was telling me about driving a car with similar fenders while his partner was sitting on the fender adjusting the carburetor while telling my friend how to keep the car straight on the road or turn a corner. I had to pull a Carter carburetor off of a BlueBird school bus on the way up a mountain in Spokane. The pin came out of the float and fuel splashed on to the exhaust manifold and started on fire. Put it back together and everything was fine. We still called parents to get their kids though, just to be on the safe side. Everyone was a little surprised that the pencil necked geek of a math and science teacher even had a clue. That's why Ive been pushing ALL of my students to take industrial arts classes, and that they don't need a 4 year degree. Pushing everyone into a degree program may be good for student loan companies, but it hurts the students, and just try to find a plumber, electrician, handyman or honest mechanic on short notice.

Tapping on the carb has been a fix for old Fords and Farmall tractors for as long as I can remember. I was going to make a smarta#? remark about the condition of the float but I couldn’t do it. The truth is, if it works, don’t knock it. I was lucky enough to go through the Indianapolis Museum back in 1987. It was a wonderful experience. Good luck with your cross country trip. Hey, I remember those old pumps! they had them here in B.C. through the fifties. You knew exactly what you were getting because it all went into the glass jar up top which was marked in gallons and fractions. Then it drained through the hose and into your tank. No cheating there. Of course those were Imperial gallons.

Merlin, I am not worried to much about you making it something major would be needed to stop you 2 you are a genius when it comes to those old cars. I will give you an 8.5 you make it home.

Rural Kings are awesome! Wish we had them in Georgia. That's where I get my jeans when I visit my dad in VA.

Yep, that's why you flush the fuel tank before you take sumtin outta hibernation. Sometimes I'll take an old electric fuel pump, a big basket strainer and large sock filter to recirculate fresh fuel through the tank for a few hours to polish it. Saves a lot of grief.
On the carb parts falling out your in good company. Harrison Fords plane crash a while back was caused by that however you landed much more safely and got to drive away. Fifty+ in a Model A was considered Flying Low back in the day.
Have a fun and safe trip!!!
    Best!
