That's not a video, it's a feature film...love it.
I love your 4 door hard top do you think it would make it to Texas
An epic film, at that!! 😋
Thank you, Merlin, Brad, and McKay. Also Travis for having this awesome Chevrolet.
Ive been waiting for Merlin to do a revive and drive. You learn so much and no one is alike. They're like a box of chocolates, ya never know what you're going to get.
I haven't seen Merlin not get the job finished 😕
My grandmother had this exact car when i was young. Hers was pea green with green vinyl top. My parents had to borrow it for a couple wks and my sister HATED that car! My dad would bring us to the skating rink to drop us off and she'd try to get him to drop is off a few blocks away which made him decide he was dropping us off at the door in front of all of our friends😂. I didnt mind at all, her on the other hand was to the point of being so embarrassed she'd start crying 😂. Fun times
Sisters, you got to love them,
Supposedly, 🤣😜
@kevbev1524 😅 the bad thing is my parents car (that was broken down) was a country squire wood panel station wagon that was in rough condition but she wasn't embarrassed of that. I was actually kinda embarrassed of that car.
Yeah this one was gutsy even for you Merlin. Glad it's working sort of at least for you guys.
the seen when replacing the fuel pump 3 old mechanics doing a repair with 2 pocket knifes and a screw driver are my kind of guys i love it
I love watching your trips and how you handle the, on the road, fixes.
Brings back good memories. Childhood new '65 4dr sedan was our first ac car. Pulled large popup trailer to Montana and over Colo passes, 283 w power glide. Glacier Gray is that bluish color. I had all the window sticker memorized. Was a good car
First impression. We are going to convert a rusty old engine stand into a car.
You guys never cease to inspire.
Thanks for bringing us this travelogue. Once you were clear of the snow the scenic views were fantastic.
The Tourism Bureau should be interested in your historic family lore! We will stay tuned for the sequel.
Hell of a road trip! Cold weather and cousin Paul.
On the road again with Merlin and friends. What a great adventure, whose coming on a road trip.
1 1/2 hrs. 😂😂😂 Great job as always 👍
Freezing to death -45f last week without the wind chill
The leaking oil was a problem for sure but all the fresh oil going through the engine on the drive was a plus for the condition of the engine.
This was a video! Nice to see Robby and Paul as well.
Seen the car on robbys channel, im here for the chaos driving it back and getting it running.
Merlin, no matter what video you show I never fast-forward through it. For some reason you fascinate me. Good job!!!
I was 12 when that Impala rolled off the line.
Love your family history tours Merlin, and the jesting between you MacKay and Brad had me in stitches.
“I gotta get me closer to the e-quater…. “ Priceleess🤣
God bless you all ❤️🇷🇴
Thank you for sharing your Family history Merlin. You have a great strong family behind you! ❤
I would also say too, that IF I were to own and bring any Chevy of choice back to at least a driver type restoration , then one of these particular body type cars , would be the one I’d want ! They’re just somehow one of the very best examples , of a luxury vehicle , plus having a very sporty look at the same time !
wow i remember having the same car with everything working perfectly including the AC, Same 327/4 barrle 300 hourse 2 speed power gluide trans and it was a weekend driver. I ended giving it away to a needing single mom with 2 kids that lost everything after huricane Andrew in 1992 she drove it for 3 year worry free until she was able to get back on her feet in a stable home, she took the kids to school in it and it never left her stranded when going to work. i missed that car.
i miss not having any of my old pictures of it. it was original blue poly you cant kill that motor and he transmission is bullet proof you cant kill it. WOW,
Dang Merlin, I'm not quite sure if brave or crazy is the right word, but you, McKay, and Brad are that IN SPADES!!! 😆
This has been one of the most entertaining episodes I've seen on all of the channels that I follow! Thanks for the laughs, and I'm really happy that y'all got home safe and sound(?)! LOL
Looked like some great sandy fun. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MERLIN!!
How much fun was that! Again, thanks for taking us along. And what a cool car that one is!
That was a crazy idea for this ride, only you guys will drive a car like that so many miles with all kinds of problems but it almost made it home and you guys got enough material for another piece of RUclips history! 😀
It's a really great find. The blowby may be an issue, I had an experience when I was younger, I put the blowby road draught tube into a container and saved the oil that was blowing by it was so bad every 100 miles it would blow all my oil out, I'd just pour it back into the motor.. did that for a year... then she finally quit on me. Great car. I love it, what a beautiful design. They don't make 'em like that anymore.
That was a great video with everyone you stoped and seen with Robby Layton crew, Paul fab rats and your buddies
Oh my god!, you’re going to give it to a viewer? That would be amazing. How cool. Great videos. Thank you! What great stories and history.
@Merlin like we used to say check the gas & fill the oil ! I had one those but was 2 door back in 77 ! You got some really cool family history Thanks for sharing it !
I was in high school in the early seventies and my mom drove a 1965 two-door Impala super sport.
Before I got my first car I was allowed to drive it to school two days a week ! 👍
It's a little hard to tell but I think that one you're working with was the same color blue as the one we had.
It survived four boys learning how to drive.
Wow! It's the ride from h*ll. Been on a few of those way back when I was young and stupid. I'm from WI. Trips back from Minneapolis. Thanks for the memories! Love it.
Right on!! It's like driving your living room couch down the road...!!
Just making it to the gas station was an accomplishment !
🤣
I love these adventures, and theres nothing I wouldn't do to go on one, within reason of course! I look forward to more of the family history, also family history with Fab Rats 🐀 You're two of my favorites on RUclips, I hope you know that! Keep on with the coolest content. Catch you on the next. ✌️ 😊
Well after you did the video trip to calif. for my family story, lol, you went and got this old girl and did a bit of your family's history too! Well done guys, we enjoyed it immensely. Thanks!
What a Great Group of real Family and Friends. Amazing memories come flooding back. Thanks Fellas 👍
Love the description often used. 65 Impala with the 327, 300 horse with factory air and double hump heads! You guys are the best of RUclips! Best part of the trip for me was you describing your family history in Lees Ferry and the selected music often played in the back ground. You cats have great style! 😎👊🏼
Because of you and your channel my family and I went to Oatman Arizona. One of your road trip videos. Keep it up Merlin thank you for everything you do!
Memories! Robby Layton has a project car like the one in which I learned to drive a manual transmission ('69 Charger). Now you guys have another car of my youth. My '65 Impala was a convertible with the small v-8 (283 if memory serves). I bent mine up playing bumper cars on an Icy Minnesota road in 1973.
Grade 10 my cousin picked me up in a 1967 or so impala station wagon. He's a fast crazy driver 😂
Got in an accident with a big truck. Tried to turn left to miss truck and to slippery so the passenger side back quarter panel introduced itself to the front pumper of the truck. 0 damage to truck but caved in side quit nicely. So that was a fun day 😂😂
Didn't get caught skipping school 👍
One thing about those little inline fuel pumps, they're really made to push fuel not to pull fuel.. so keeping them up in the engine bay, that's really going to shorten the expected life of those things dramatically.. I recommend keeping them as close to the fuel tank as possible, on the gravity side of the exit, as to where there's no real resistance on the pump and it's simply pushing the fuel up to the front of the car.
When I was a teenager, the first car I had was a '58 Chevy Delray with a 283 with license plate floorboards. It had so much blow by that I had to tie the dipstick in with a coat hanger wire. We would pull into the gas station and the phrase "check the gas and fill it with oil" was real. Great adventures Merlin!
My family had a gold colored '65 like that with a 327 and a 2-speed automatic. I took my California drivers license in that. My dad sold it to my aunt (his sister) in Seattle. I moved to Seattle and took my Washington drivers license test in the same car.
My first car was a 1969 Plymouth fury 3 four-door black interior power driver seat power windows and tilt wheel with a 383 big block and that thing would float you could take first gear to 100 mi an hour and then hit second and it would float to 110 and then hit drive it was great
31:17 Chech and Chong moments right here. I love these road trips. They are the best videos.
My great great great grand dad was James Simpson Emett, he ran it after your great great great grand dad! Thanks for sharing that! That’s pretty cool
😂😂
The thing that blows me away most of our old cars like that is somebody bought it brand new off the dealer lot and brought it home to show off to the family and friends. Back in those days it was something special to bring home a new car not so much today nobody cares.
Granddaddy donk. This is about the best channel on RUclips! Thanks for sharing this and taking the time to do such videos. I felt like i was along for the adventure too. Great family history too.
I had a '65 Impala, 327 2-door hardtop in high school. Loved that car! Traded it in for a '73, which I liked, but I've regretted letting the '65 go ever since. I'm retired now and thinking of starting a search. That 327 is the best engine ever built, in my opinion. Love those things from the top down.
Watch all your videos, but this one is the best so far! Great roadtrip! More like this!
Merlin, the adventures you get involved in amaze me! You are a very good friend to have along on a rescue mission!
“Burning more oil than gas”😂 Sounds like the old Chevy Vega! Pull into the gas station and ask for a quart of gas and 15 gallons of oil.
I absolutely love 4 door hardtop cars, '65 being one of the best looking years for Impala, cool find.
My face hurts from smiling thru this whole video!😄 The ol girl did great and got ya close enough to home. The Lee`s Ferry part was super interesting! Wow what an incredible family history you have from logging to river boat operator. Super cool! Thank you for posting and taking us along.☺
I think it's outstanding that you took a ragged out Impala and drove it home, basically. We've got to save these old cars. It's part of our history, plus to me, all old cars have a soul and a story to tell.
The shot pulling up to the pump was the best. Old plate and that rusty patina. Love a good classic!
As a kid living in Rancho Cucamonga, California, we would drive every week or every other weekend on trips through the Grand Canyon, Arizona, Nevada, part of Utah, Texas, New Mexico. It was truly awesome then as a teenager my parents moved us to Kentucky, so it is nice to watch your videos and see the places that my mom and dad used to take us. Thank you very much besides the car stuff the scenic views I’m sorry I just thank you thank you very much
Still giggling at the cat watching her tenement on wheels roll away.😂 Great show fellas, love the history and stories.
Brought back memories for me Merlin. In the late 70's I was barely a teenager and a brand new auto mechanic. One of my mom's friends that we went to church with lived 3 houses down from us. She had an identical 65 Impala. Same shade of blue although faded. It had a 283 two barrel and the 2 speed powerglide transmission. You always knew the sound of a powerglide transmission because they had a whine to them at idle. I did all of her mechanic work on it and she let me drive them to church in it when I was 14 and not old enough to get a drivers license yet. I was so short I had to sit on one leg to be tall enough to drive it. It's life ended when she got rear ended at a traffic light and she ended up buying a 66 Rambler classic. The old Ramblers had a rear pump in the transmission of the automatics and you could push start it even though it was an automatic. But I digress. When you get tired of that old Impala you could always release it to me to take back to West Virginia. I would love to have it and restore it!. I'm retired now and have the time to tinker. Lol. Great video Merlin. Thanks for the memories.
Me and a bunch of Army buddies went in on a 65 Caprice back on 75. Drove it all around Aberdeen MD til our training ended then passed it to the next class.
Epic road trip revival on that 1965 Chevrolet Impala glad you all made it home safely
Another cool trip in another cool old car!! What a ride!! LOL!! ALMOST made it the whole way. 😆 Good times with good friends. Keep'm coming Merlin!! I'll be watching to see what you end up doing with this old classic.
Love this type of thing.
I just bought a 35 year old Chevy truck for $750.
Drove it around town for a few days. Fixed two sensors.
Then drove it from Oregon to North Carolina in 6 days for Christmas with my family.
No issues at all besides a flat tire from road debris.
Get out there. Enjoy some adventures.
Got to love a road trip with your buddies
I spent a lot time in the back seat of my uncle's 67 impla when 4 or 5 when I was 15 he let me borrow it for a driver test and it's power was a 409 4sp love the long format great video keep up the good work God bless from GA stay safe
Thanks for the adventure Merlin. Looking forward to more.
This was epic, one of the best video’s I’ve seen for a long time. You truly do the best revive and drive trips. I thought the Model A trip was courageous, but this was legendary.
I really like that car I used to have one of those cars when I was young I'm 66 years old now wish I still had mine they were really good cars
Thanks for sharing your chilly journey and family history at Lee's Ferry Merlin. Really digging the long format video.
Your trips across the states with cars that have been sitting are always a adventure!
What an awesome trip with good friends, and thanks for supporting the oil companies, haha
I had a 66 impala 4door in high school 283 2speed power glide. Had a blast in it.
Thanks for sharing the video with us. That is a neat road trip. Thanks for the history as well.
Boys will be boys - awesome video! Thank you for bringing us along! @MerlinsOldSchoolGarage never disappoints!
Great adventure, thanks for sharing your stories..the sticker is a unicorn 🦄 😀 😂😂😂😂
This film has been a joy to watch. Buddies hanging out on an adventure to see if it can be a success. Great Job guys
Love that car! 65 Impala is my favorite body style. My dad had a 65 2 door. We had so much with dad, my little brother, and I. We hit every dirt road in Western North Carolina, it felt. Great video!
Great job guys. Thank you 😊. And I love the family history. That’s very nice to share with us. Thank you 🙏.
As I have been fixing my old 94 winnebago for my jeep trip to Arizona, sand hollow, and then Moab. I was wondering if this is a good idea for a Feb/ March run.
This Video just reinstilled my faith that I won't be the craziest person on the highway.
Looks like fun guys. Keep on keeping on.
Amazing how you guys can coble together the "tinker-toy" oldie-goldie and get it to work.
Isn't that the car that was the 1st get-away car in the crazy Larry movie. As an aside what a fabulous adventure with two great pals.
Awesome and outstanding as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along.
quite possibly THE best MOSG video ever! thanks, guys, this was a whole lotta fun to watch. YEE-HAA!
My first car was a 67 2dr hardtop impala. My dad and myself built that car and drag raced for years.. I got when I turned 16 and drove it to school during the week and raced it on the weekends.. loved that old car.. wish I still had it
Merlin you are a star, enjoyed every minute of the video. Great job …. You made my day. NH

I owned a 1963 Chevy four door hardtop. It had a 283 with a power glide transmission. 😎👍 Thanks for the video/ movie. 😉
Thanks for the video from around Lee’s Ferry. Haven’t seen that road since the early ‘60s. Great memories of driving through that area and the magestic views both day and night
My older brother gave me an electric heated vest for Christmas. Runs on a rechargeable battery pack. Lasts about 8 hours and I love it.
