Yes, if your donor GC has a shield it would be better to us the shield from that because you wouldn't need to do any cutting. Typically we only have the boards and not a whole console when modifying the S2P thus the cutting.
Well, I'll give you credit for demonstrating that it is possible, though I wish you would have shown how you did it. Don't get me wrong, removing the port from a broken game cube is easy enough, but how did you transfer those tiny components over (DA15 and DA7).
Hey buddy, I want to mod my gamecube with the pico and use the slot2 for memory card using the adapter. But i have no slot2 on my console. I was wondering if you can help me identify the solder points on the board i can use to solder wires directly to the ghecko adapter ? I have looked allover the web you are the only one ive seen mod without having the slot available. The help would be appreciated !

Flux, heat gun and a very steady hand. They are not to bad to do. Actually a lot bigger than some of the stuff on newer consoles.

Do you know what DA7 and DA15 are? I also have a DOL-001 without an SP2 Port and would like to wire an SD adapter to the unpopulated port.
