NFL Primetime coverage of the Buffalo Bills' 41-38 victory over the Houston Oilers, aka "The Comeback Game"
4:03, Absolute GOLD! from Chris Berman. It's OVER!...for Houston😂
I was ready to turn this game off, but my father, the most pessimistic man on earth who gives up on the Bills when they are down by a field goal, thought they could come back. And he was right.
That’s some crazy shit lol. It’s like he knew.
That what writers would call uncharacteristic. I had similar thoughts when my team was down 21-3 on January 30th, 2022.
That gut instinct don't lie 😂
I ALMOST turned it off after the 3 quarter INT for a TD. But still lots of time, I'll give it five more minutes. THANK GOD I hung around.
I had similar thoughts when my team was down 28-3.
This game sealed Frank's place as sports royalty in Buffalo to this day.
Not as a coach 😂 GO Oilers
@@lonestar8968shit as an Eagles fan, he got royalty from us for being the O Cord on our first ring
Will always be a memorable, timeless treasure for all Bills Fans-GO BILLS!!!!!!
"Not even Exxon can bail them out of this." Chris Berman at his best throughout this entire clip
No one circles the wagons like the Buffalo Bills.
That is something I miss about Boomer. He would use that line a few times each season. Sometimes he would even play around with it - "Nobody ROLLS out the welcome wagons like the Buffalo Bills!" Tom Jackson loved it :)
I usually don't keep my ticket stubs but I kept and still have my stub from that game!
might be worth something interesting some day
Sucks you left at half time
@@Currnation22 no sir I did NOT LEAVE at halftime! but I wanted too but my season ticket partner kept saying they were gonna come back then Reich threw that pick six that went off Keith McKellers hands to go up 35-3 to start the 3rd quarter I said let's go this is over but he kept saying they were gonna come back and he was yelling at the people streaming for the exits telling them they'll be sorry and to stay in fact people laughed at him...to this day I thank him every time I see him for convincing me to stay...that is 100% the truth and I swear that on my 93 year old mother...and those that left could not re-enter...what a game! Also the game didn't sell out at least 72 hours before Kickoff so the rule back then was it couldn't be televised locally...
It's cool you have proof, because I met 2,000,000 people who went to that game in my life. And none of them left at Half time 😉
4th and 5 at the 20 down late in the game?
HERE I COME TO SAVE THE DAY!
Man of culture.
God I miss this show!!! I lived and waited for this each week!!! Thank you for sharing
Edit: soon as that music started when the highlights did I got chills!! Hearing boomer and Jackson, damn. Yes time changes things as memories are forever.
I was 15 years old watching this, I am 46 now and its still the best game I ever watched in my opinion
Warren Moon was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006. He said that even during the ceremony all he could think about was losing this playoff game in Buffalo in 1993
I still watch these highlights every year that I can remember since it happened I hope our bills can get back to the super bowl and win it all LETS GO BILLS MAFIA!
Cris Dishman just wasn't in the mood and went straight to the point.
People need to realize buffalo didnt have their hall of fame running back AND HOF qb agains warren moon who is also a hof qb
Thats like facing prime tom brady and his number 1 defense with backups
And still manage to win there is ZERO comparison as the greatest comeback in the playoffs ever
I can just hear my dads cry turning into screams of enjoyment 🤣🤣
I remember watching this game in my living room when i was 13 years old. I didn't quite fully appreciate how insurmountable the odds were but i still knew i was witnessing a hige comeback. What a showing by Reich.
The best of human competition of any kind in the history of humanity. Super Bowl Champs 2025. Go Josh & Co.!!
Yes, I watched this game live. And I thought it was over. No Jim Kelly. No chance.
I still have my VHS recording of the game! Too bad i didn't keep a VCR. (Kids, your parents can explain what those are)
😂😂😂❤underated comment if the year 😂😂😂😂❤❤🎉🎉
32 years since the 32 point comeback happened !!!
We could not see that game up here in Buffalo because it was blacked out we heard it on the radio on wgr but I eventually got a copy from a recording out of out of Massachusetts to watch it in its entirety
Couldn't even sell out a home playoff game? Sad
@jakermon1014 I was 7 or I would have gone. It was blacked out. We all were mad amd then happy within 10 minutes.
@@jakermon1014 The week before this game the Bills lost to the Oilers in Houston 27-3 and their starting QB Jim Kelly was injured. Nobody gave them a chance in hell to win this game.
I remember the Bills comeback game I was 12
Givins got mugged in OT, Bebe stepped out of bounds and came back in. This game wouldn't have happened in today's game.
Man I remember watching this game at 10 years old. Absolute f’n insanity. It’s a travesty the Bills couldn’t take home one Lombardi trophy. They were such a stacked team, even with a top notch Special Teams unit led by Steve Tasker. Off the top of my head -
Andre Reed, James Lofton, Pete Metzcalar, Thurman Thomas, Don Beebe, Kent Hull, Bruce Smith, Jim Kelly, Shane Conlin, Darryl Talley, Doug Christie…EVEN THEIR BACKUPS WERE STUDS w/ Kenneth Grant and Frank Reich …I mean my god you can make a case for the HOF for at least 7 or 8 players on their AFC Championship squads. I thought Darryl Talley is one of the most underrated LBs ever. The NFC East were just brawlers in the early 90s. Salùt Buffalo.
I watched this from start to finish, WOW!!
this is a peak highlight segment
It’s hard to put into words how this game resonated with fans afterwards. It really gave me, personally, hope that anything is possible no matter the challenge.
So true! The Bills teaching life lessons!
6:44 "That's why they make quarterbacks do it"
Just shows how different the NFL is today. Nowadays, it's almost exclusively punters that hold for field goals.
I'm not a bills fan but I admit it was awesome to watch wow I'm a freshman high School 🏫🎒 I remember that game like it was just yesterday this coming January the 6th will mark 32 later I'm between buffalo Pittsburgh and Cleveland Erie Pennsylvania that's from at I'm only 90 minutes away from Buffalo
“It was an association day because everyone knew it was windy”
Buffalo is lucky the challenge flag didn't exist at 5:07, because Jack Pardee WOULD have thrown it, IMO...
Don Beebe stepped out of bounds and came back in. That should NEVER HAVE BEEN a touchdown
Oilers apparently didn’t get the memo “it’s not how you start but how you finish”.
The beginning of the end of Houston (Oilers not Texans)
This was the first shoe to drop, but the second one was the following year when they lost to KC
After that one, I’m sure everyone knew the team was finished
this was the second, the first was vs Denver
Were there still no two-point conversions in the NFL yet? Normally you'd think Buffalo would go for 2 to get to within 35-32 in the 4th. I guess it makes it more dramatic in the end
Not yet. The NFL added the 2 point conversion before the 1994 season.
Chills watching this to this day
The greatest comeback in sports history
Not anymore, thanks to the Vikings
@@ThePhilipJFry__ I guess it depends on the teams they were playing. Bills had a playoff team in the playoffs, Vikings had the… Colts. Impressive nonetheless however Bills still have the greatest comeback
@@ThePhilipJFry__ Bills had starters out playing a talented oilers team...not even comparable
Playoff history yes it may never be touched
28-3 all that's needed 😂😂😂
GOAT has spoken😂😂😂
This is awesome!
I wasn’t born yet but my dad tell me about these games all the time
I was 15 and in high school and I was watching this game with my father and I looked at him in disbelief like "Is this really happening"? I told him are you serious? I was rooting for Houston 😅😅
those were the good ole days
This is the music for WE NEED MORE POINTS!!!
To do this without your starting QB and RB is quite something.
It's a borderline IMPOSSIBLE MIRACLE
I was there til the end!
Prime time... prime time
This just doesn't happen anymore. Matt Barkley coming in for Josh Allen, all we'd hope for would be holding the lead. Maybe Case Keenum could get a TD.
great game, yes I was there and yes I stayed
The fix was in😂😂😂😂
If it was, they wouldn't have called back a Buffalo interception.
Ironic that Frank would be coaching the team that would be on the wrong side of the 33 point blown lead 30 years later.
Reich was fired by the Colts before that happened
12:53 they never did.
As an oiler fan this sucked
At least we got revenge with the music city miracle
Thank you Vikings for erasing the oliers from the #1 spot
That wasn't even Houston nor the Oilers. I couldn't see still supporting them after the bullshit Bud Adams pulled. Have some self respect, man.
@blakfloyd Troll off Man the Houston Oilers were my team the Texans were cool but nothing comes close to Oilers
12:53
They should probably leave town and change their name.
A loss so bad the team straight up moves across the country and changes it's identity.
Frank won the next week too...then Kelly brought won it in Miami.
Damn, the HOLDER is wearing Steve McNair’s 9
Wasn't this game blacked out? I only saw it because we had a Dish
It was blacked out in Buffalo. It didn't sell-out as fans were pessimistic after the Bills drubbing and Jim Kelly knocked out in the Astrodome the week before. I also watched it on satellite dish. Everyone else locally listened to it on WGR called by Van Miller.
Erie, PA was blacked out also.
I saw the game on Long Island on NBC
But the Don Beebe touchdown shouldn't have counted though
It’s history now.
Damn fucking right. That was blatant bull shit
if Houston just runs the ball every single time in the 2nd half, they win the game
8:01 this play would’ve been scrutinized to pieces if it happened today, people would call it rigged.
Nobody seems to care that the Chiefs and lil’ baby Mahomes gets away with shit like that.
A game to remember? Lol I’ve never heard of this one until now. Awesome comeback and very underrated.
Greatest comeback in NFL history, legendary game
but if there had been instant replay...... just sayin
I miss this ESPN!! Just scores and highlights without the WOKE agenda!!
The only p*****s that gripe about a "woke agenda" are the ones who are all about a Chr***ian na***al*sm agenda.
Funny, Frank Reich helps get the comeback for the Bills here, then later gets hired and fired by the Colts right before the Vikings annihilate them and break this very record...
2 bad calls cost the pilers that game.. bb stepped out and holding on Ernest givings for the interception
LOUAVULL
As a Tesla driver, the name “Oilers” offends me deeply. The only saving face is the shade of LGBTQ+ blue.
Gambling life refs saved the Bill$
Then why did they call back a Bills interception that they easily coulda swallowed their whistles on?
i can't get over this ridiculous music
I was living in Boca Raton, Florida and was at a PLAYOFF FOOTBALL PARTY...where most of my Friends there were HUGE DOLPHIN FANS.
I Was feeling like c*** obviously and by halftime. They were all " Bustin My Balls".....RELENTLESSLY!!
THEN....Kenneth Davis TD....ONSIDE KICK!! BILLS RECOVER!.......Don Beebe TD.....( They were still ribbing me pretty good because BUFFALO was still down by a lot)..BILLS INT off Warren Moon......Andre Reed TD.....😅😂
.FRIENDS ARE MUMMBLING 🥺😯ABOUT SOMETHING...OILERS MUFF FG ATT.🫣😳.....ANDRE REED TD BILLS LEAD 38 - 35.....FRIENDS ARE SILENT😮
OILERS KICK FG TO GET TO OT.
BILLS WIN...FRIENDS Say they are lucky that they got to see one of the GREATEST GAME'S OF ALL TIME !
We the whodat nation was disgusted that day.. That game gave me the runs for long time..
I hated this game. This game was the start of the franchise moving from Houston. Fk the Damn Buffalo Bills
The Oilers were playoff chokers before this game. The Oilers lost in OT vs the Steelers in the 1989 season playoffs. The Oilers had a 21-6 playoff lead at Denver in the 1991 season playoffs and choked. The year after this game they got smashed by Buffalo in the regular season and then proceeded to go on an 11 game win streak and followed that up with another choke to old Joe Montana in their building.
Might wanna also include the Chiefs, Broncos, Bengals, and Steelers in that complaint if you wanna gripe about every team that beat them in the playoffs during that run. Orrrrrr maybe just gripe about the Oilers for never even being able to win a second playoff game in any of Warren Moon's seasons with them.
This game suspect AF
Me thinks an offer was not refused😅😅
