I can still see Montana's touchdown pass to Kimble Anders bounce off his hands, right in to the hands of Henry Jones. Should've been a one score game and a huge boost to the Chefs. Instead, basically ballgame. Then Montana got KO'd in the 2nd half and that was that. Chefs always made mistakes against other teams they didn't make against my Raiders in the 90's. Was maddening to me.

NFL Network has a show called NFL top 10. They ranked the Chiefs at 8 or something for most snakebit franchises. The author Ray Didinger highlighted that particular play in this game that demonstrated the bad luck that had followed the Chiefs for so many years (which much of that went away last year but the show was made like 10 years ago).

    • @manuginobilisbaldspot424

@@robsmith961 It was nuts man. 1990, they blow that 16-3 lead in Miami...because instead of a pick six, the ball somehow gets through Albert Lewis and Mark Clayton scores the GW TD and then Nick Lowery comes up short on a winning FG. They blow this game because suddenly, they can't play run defense and Anders doinks a sure TD. Then Lin Elliott misses 3-4 FG's against Indy. They got EVERY SINGLE BREAK against us, but then found the nuttiest ways to lose against everyone else.

Yea. There were flashes of brilliance his rookie year. I remember him vaulting Anthony Barr and then throwing a TD and running for another. Or the game against the Jags were he gets surrounded by Jags players and still throws a bullet to Robert Foster for a TD. I felt he had a ton of potential.
And then last year, he started making some great plays. I’ll always remember the Cowboys game on Thanksgiving when the Bills went in and pummeled the Cowboys on national television. I knew he’d be a star. I just thought he needed more time.
But I didn’t think it would happen so quickly. I expected another year but that Diggs addition makes them so deadly. So yea. I felt he had the potential to be the bigger rival to Mahomes than Lamar.

This was a great game in a lot of ways but looking back I kinda wish Montana had pulled off the upset against the Bills here. The hit that took him out of this game pretty much completely screwed him up though his body was already breaking down. Still, that hit made '94 a tough watch to see him physically deteriorate as he gutted out some victories.

For selfish reasons I'm glad Montana had those 2 seasons with the Chiefs. By 1993, he'd been sitting out about 2 years and younger fans did not remember his prime. It was kind of like Michael Jordan's comeback with the Wizards, but with more playoff success.

I can only imagine Joe Montana winning the AFC Championship and taking the Kansas City Chiefs to Super Bowl 28 in Atlanta Georgia at the Georgia Dome and we could have seen a dream matchup between Steve Young and the San Francisco 49ers or Troy Aikman and the Dallas Cowboys

0:22 The 49ers-Chiefs Super Bowl could be possibly happen 26 years earlier.
Also, the 49ers-Chiefs relationship/rivalries is tied with Joe Montana, similar to the Patriots-Buccaneers which is tied with Tom Brady. So it would be interesting to see a Super Bowl match between those latter two teams, because they would replicate what 49ers-Chiefs did.

As a lifelong Chiefs fan, this game still hurts to watch. The Bills were SO much better in every facet of the game. Also, Krieg totally outperformed Montana. Joe looked off all day before his concussion.

Brilliant defensive strategy by The Chiefs, take your best defensive player off the field. No Derrick Thomas. Oh nice to take Marcus Allen off the field for Kimble Andres. God Marty

Wow now this is what you call football. They actually let the defense play against the receiver's. Both of the QB's are elite. They throw the ball so effortlessly wow. The NFL needs to go back to this style of football.

This was actually the last season before FOX got the NFC package and adopted the first constant on-screen scoring bug for NFL games. I want to say the superimposed 1st down line was introduced a few years after that.

Big shoulder pads, hard hitting and offensive linemen with narrow midsections. Running backs that were productive, and valued for loner than their rookie contracts also. Oh, how things have changed.
