imagine being a punter and getting hyped up before this game
Lmaooo right
Do Punters besides McAfee get hyped?
Bro got paid to watch the game lmao
Knowing who your offense was... you already know
I’d be happy
The Super Bowl matchup we never got 😢.
Either of these teams were in the Super Bowl for 7 STRAIGHT years but never against each other!
@@QuiltHoncho Packers? The Packers were not part of any rotation, not more than the Bears. From 1981 to 1995 the four dominant NFC teams were the Giants, Redskins, Cowboys, and 49ers. This four teams won 13 of 15 SB.
OMG, you’re right! I never looked into that fun fact. Heck, we almost got it on 4 occasions.
Super Bowls 23, 25, 27 & 28.
Wow, I never noticed that and its been right in my face the whole time
Remember when Chris Berman would pick these two teams every year for his Super Bowl matchup? Good times
Wasn’t it 10 times?
@@rivalstorm7216 12 i think.
I still have the TV guide with Chris Bergman predictions San Fran and Buffalo before the 1995 season
They mentioned that last night during the game. Loved it. He’s a fan of both teams. “No buddy circles the wagon like the Buffalo Bills”. Berman would say it on NFL Primetime almost every Bills highlight. Go Bills
@@matthewwheatley6903 the only reason I got ESPN Plus was for Berman & NFL Primetime
Steve Young was one of the most aesthetically pleasing players to watch. Dude had such a smooth throwing motion.
He was so insanely accurate as well. He completed 70% of his passes *in college*. In today's game I bet he'd hit 80%
It’s always great to see 2 hall of fame quarterbacks go head to head like Young and Kelly
Can we count how many hall of famers are on the field. With that amount of talent no wonder the punters didn't see the field
Bills: Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed, James Lofton, Bruce Smith (and head coach Marv Levy)
49ers: Steve Young, Jerry Rice
A lot of people forget about Pete Metzelaars in this game. Dude was a 32 year old blocking TE who came out of nowhere and gained 113 yards on just 4 catches and scored 2 TDs.
Yea I started him in fantasy football that matchup. I just went with my gut feeling.
Those punters were getting their extra week’s rest watching this classic
Just like 03 colts punter who in the playoffs didnt punt till the afc title and he played in the wild card rd lol
I remember watching this game on tv in Philadelphia when I was 8 years old. This was an awesome game.
Damn I loved Jim Kelly in his football career! From the gamblers to the bills, He’s one tough SOB!
Saw him play with the Gamblers against the Oakland Invaders in 1985. I swear he had close to a 150 yards for his first 3 passes. Dude could sling with the best of them.
@@BAYAREA-kd1ig old school football badass. I remember a game against the Steelers in 94(?) Where he dislocated his sternum and played the second half! I missed my chances to go to games to see him in the astrodome years ago and I still regret missing it!
@@3rdcoastobs467 I had Bills season tickets from 1989 until 2010. There's nothing like the feeling of not only knowing that not only is your team going to win, but dominate. It was a privilege to watch the Bills during the Super Bowl era.
The guy who does the titles for these needs a raise at this point.
I agree!
@@NFLVault the guy who makes the content should keep loading these old great smashmouth offensive games from the 90s! Love it
I'll never forget watching, senior year in college, this with a roomful of Bills fans on 4th-and 4 on the baseball dirt. Then Thurman's td scamper!
I've seen this game in full on nfl channel but this game still never gets old , I wish nfl throwback would keep the 90s games coming!
This game is #10 on NFL Network top 10 QB duels
I remember this game. As a neutral fan I loved this game.
Back when the 49ers had greatness at QB.
Montana & Young... it was never the same afterwards.
It’s weird watching some of these plays were you expect a flag because of the NFL now but there isn’t one just shows the evolution
Thurman was so good catching the ball
never thought I'd see the Bills celebrating after a wide right
A preview and what likely should have been Super Bowl XXVII.
It’s crazy seeing how hitting head first to tackle was the norm compared to how tackling is taught today. I will be the first to tell anyone that I feel the game got softer but seeing this makes me understand why today’s game is the way it is like shit got a little headache just from watching this classic
Tackling leading with the head is DUMB
Steve Young was such a finesse passer and a beast when he takes off.
2 great hall of fames QB battle with each other.I was 7 years old
Yo I love that the 49ers use a fullback
even today they do
3:35 - Heh, the 10 Minute Ticker. Back in the days where if a game went long, you'd have to wait for a news station's sports segment for the final score. We don't realize how good we have things today, lol!
Ur right
As a member of Gen Z, IDK how u old guys watched sports like THIS; prior to the internet, on-screen graphics, etc.
@@TheJShield Heh, I also just remembered back then, there were rules where, since this was an NBC game, they couldn't show highlights from games airing on the other network (CBS) if those games was still in progress. Oh what we went thru back then, lol!
This was my first pro game. I lived in Union City at the time for a couple of years before moving back to Arizona to watch my All Star Arizona Cardinals…lol…. I met a lot of people in Northern California and talk about a fan base.. A lot of fun..Thanks for the upload
First NFL game I ever went to. So many great memories
Damn i miss these days! Bills had some fantastic players.
Bills have a lot of talent still, My 9ers do too, except majority of them are on IR
16:02 that looks like a fumble before he crossed the goal line.
Ikr
The Super Bowl that never was from 1988-93. Four times in six years we were one game away from it yet never got to see it. Bills lost the AFC title game in '88 and the 49ers lost the NFC title game in '90, '92 and '93.
No wonder the Bills went to four straight Superbowls. They were stacked on both offense and defense! Hall of famera on both sides and perennial pro bowlers
I remember watching this. The funnest NFL game I'd seen up until that point.
This is a great throwback
One of those missed super bowl matchups
I remember the game but not the score, refused to scroll forward for final score so I watched it through. It was like I watched it for the first and it was incredible. Thanks for RUclips making it available. WOW AWSOME INCREDIBLE 🍺😵💫🥴🤢🤮🤧😶
THE No Punt Game
Thurman Thomas my all-time favorite player, was unstoppable.
except in the Super Bowl where he coughed up the ball.
@@solidarnosc9663 Super Bowl 25 Thomas had 135 yds rushing including a 30 yard TD and another 60 receiving and would've been the MVP had Norwood's kick went through.
@@trainspotter360 he was terrible in 3 SBs.
@@solidarnosc9663No, his line was. Understand the game.
I like these 49ers classic games
Dear NFL throwback team,
Please upload late 80s and early 90s classic games of Montana and Young, more
rather than after 2000 games
Thanks
Back in day will always be remembered and Good times 😎
Never saw the show but knew bookman was cleaning up - chappelle
Holy crap I never noticed how far back Steve Young's dropbacks are on a lot of these plays he has to scramble an extra 7 yards just to get back to the line of scrimmage lol.
A legendary matchup of the second and third best teams in the NFL in '92
No punt intended
Nice!
@@NFLVault 👍
90s and 00s was my NFL.
I remember this game very well. I truly believe that Mike Cofer is the one who lost us this game.
It's about time this one was put up by NFL throwback.
atleast you a loyal florida st fan just like im a Auburn fan...
This could've been super bowl 25
if Montana didnt get injured they might've beaten the Giants
Could've should've would've who cares the GMEN slapped them both !
@@etownshawnNO. No one was beating the Giants defense that season
Great game this was supported to be the Superbowl match up but Dallas was too much in 92
When I was a kid Steve Tasker was my sports hero
This should have been the Superbowl but Dallas just had our number.
Aka you guys got to the SB but choked the most important game away. Your lightning-fast offense was brought down before you could even get anything going by Dallas defense. You guys had a great chance to win that SB and y'all just let it slip away little by little until it ended in a slaughter. Sucks bc out of all 4 SB losses the Bills have, this is the one I hoped they should have won easily too. Oh well, you guys got an EXCELLENT QB in Josh Allen and you guys get better every year so good luck I would LOVE to see a Lombardi come to Buffalo!!
And cocaine...lots and lots of cocaine....plus targeting Jim Kelly’s hurt knee early in the game. Dirty Dallas, they were the patriots of the 90s with all the mysterious favorable calls and dirty play...plus the drugs lol. What a joke.
@@wessteinfeld3337 I'm a 49er fan.
@@thesentinel5523 that's cool... I meant in general btw Apoligize for the assumption by stating "you" like they are your team lol. Sometimes I just start typing and my fingers take over haha. Im a die hard NYG fan lol
@@3rdcoastobs467 yes dallas is extremely dirty and cheap I abhor the cowgirls. Go BLUE!!!
Two 90's alpha teams colliding.
Glory days of nfl my opinion with how much more physical it was which makes this game that much more impressive
Almost unheard of back then to have both QBs in a game throw for over 400. Happens week in and week out now.
ya 4000 yards was unheard of
At 1:20 I was a little kid, but I remember this 49er kicker, mainly because our neighbor was a die-hard Niner fan and mentioned this with fury multiple times, missing relatively close attempts all the time! Then at 6:59 on a chip shot he hit the post and it bounced in for him! Low and behold at 22:26! What a doltish kicker! They lost this gave by - yep, 3 pts!! At 12:29 instant replay nowadays would have detected that no catch (or was it a recovered fumble?). Great, great game!
Crazy how Buffalo went to 4 straight Super Bowls losing all, 3 of which by double-digit margins.
The super bowl that never was
Surprising amount of defensive plays for a game with over 1,000 yards of offense.
11:50 P Chris Mohr just vibin' on the bench. haha
Those punters got the day off on that day lol
Thanks for posting. At least my boys put up a better right here compared to tonight :(
This contest should have been on the NFL 100 Greatest Games.
Being a punter in the NFL is the easiest money you could ever make in your life. They literally spend 99% of their careers on the bench doing nothing and get paid MILLIONS for it.
And this was without Jerry Rice, who went down on the first drive of the game. Shame these two never met in the Super Bowl in the early 90s. The NFC usually won in a blowout in those days, but I think it would have been pretty competitive.
He still had John Taylor
The best game in NFL history that no one talks about. Forget that Ram-KC joke this is a real shoot out
The punters was probably livin life on the sideline
I'm not sure, but the Bills' punter, Chris Mohr, might have been the holder for Steve Christie. So at least he got on the field for something.
Steve Young could make any receiver look like a pro bowler. They had a kicker named Cougher.
The bills took no punts to a new level against the patriots. No special teams at all, excluding kickoffs

Can you please do more 49ers games from Candlestick Park?? That would be really awesome if you can
I was at this classic game.
Dallas Cowboys: allow me to introduce you the 1992 & 1993 postseason boys!
Throwback, this week, can you do 2012 Week 8 Bucs/Vikings The Doug Martin Show on Thursday Night Football, 1996 Week 3 Bills/Steelers The Jerome Bettis Show on Monday Night Football, 2012 Week 11 Packers/Lions Rodgers vs Megatron, 2007 Week 15 Colts/Raiders, and 2009 Week 2 Saints/Eagles?
16:02 If you pause, it looks like he released the ball long before he crossed the goal line.
Jerry Rice knocked out of the game before the end of the opening drive. Two massive hits, right to his head. Concussion. Out on his feet. Out of the game, never to return. Brent Jones also forced from the game 1st quarter, never to return. The 49ers roll up a staggering 598 yards of total offense. And Steve Young manages to do all this without Jerry Rice and also without Brent Jones. Ridiculous!! Never in the entire 1992 season, including the playoffs and the Super Bowl, did the Bills even come close to giving up as many as 598 yards on defense to any other team. The 49ers passed for more yards by far than any other team against the Bills that whole year. And the 49ers even ran for more yards than any other team against the Bills that whole year. Remember, these astouding 49ers offensive yardage figures were put up with no Brent Jones (0 catches for 0 yards) and almost no Jerry Rice (3 catches for 26 yards before his concussion on the opening drive of the game). After the game, angry Buffalo linebacker Darryl Talley said of Steve Young, "He's sixty minutes of hell! You have to cover the whole field, and then he still scrambles away from you."
The punters were probably gettin drunk on the sideline and just vibin to music cause they didn’t have to do anything
Back when you could hit people in the NFL
Wish you could see what the score was throughout the game
Great title
I remember being 14 and watching this on TV. I’ve hated Cofer ever since.
Punter: At least i’m also a kicker
The final season before the Salary Cap, Free Agency, and the draft being reduced from 12 rounds to 10, then 7
Damn Steve Young is fun to watch
And left handed
Similar offense to what Purdy is playing in today. No comparing, but many similarities.
5:38 OH MY !!!
If u pause it just right Taylors feet arent quite in the end zone and the ball is already flying 5 yards deep...probably didnt break the plane before it was knocked out actually
Nice baseball field
Who forwarded it to see what the final score was?
There is probably more hall of famers on this field than in the shrine. At same time
Shocked that there was a roughing the passer call around the 8:30 mark
1,100 yards of offense and no Jerry Rice.
yesssss
👑49ERNATION ..
Rice icing out the cobwebs 😂
I feel like Steve Young is dramatically left handed
The Super Bowl that never happened. SF appeared in 23, 24, 29 and Bills were in 25, 26, 27, 28
Imagine how hard the punters worked in practice and pulled a few muscles before this game
Not if brian moorman was there lmao
