- We sat down with convicted drug trafficker Michaella McCollum as she releases her new book 'You'll Never See Daylight Again'. She recounts the years spent in a Peruvian prison, her struggles with re-integration and how she intends to speak the truth in the hopes of deterring other young women from following in her footsteps.

Having worked with addicts for 30 years she behaved as a typical addict at the time of her crime. Young, naïve and an easy target for the big fellas in charge. She made a big mistake as we all do at one time or another. You either repeat your mistakes thinking there will be a different outcome or you learn your lesson and try to do better. She's chosen the latter. Good on her for turning her life around.
Lol a big mistake as we all do what smuggling millions of pounds worth in drugs knowing full well how much misery or death this would cause people. The only mistake she was worried about was when she got caught.
Is she donating all her profits to drug rehab ??????? I DON’T THINK SO 🤷♂️
The most sad thing was she did have thoughts about the alternative - going home or calling her mom before she went trough the airport with drugs, but she didn't. Being so young, under the influence (which means you can't really feel yourself), naive, easily convinced and in denial of the consequences became extremely dangerous for her. Sadly she won't be the girl to do that.
@@daz3434 So you think a 20 year old knows how much misery and death drugs cause? The only mistake she was worried about was when she got caught? Everything she describes about how she felt during the trip and how she just wanted to have fun and all that riding around for days doing things she didnt want to do just so she would look like a tourist and how she felt worse and worse as the time went on... and how she didnt know it would be peru and didnt know how much drugs it would be.... I was in a similar situation at 15 and I know first hand how you can get caught up and have no clue past, "yep, I could get in trouble for this" how bad your getting in and the deeper you go the more you panic.
Your comment though about how she knew full well? What the hell do you know?
@@michaelleinbach6249 Get your head out of the clouds mate she was 20 and knew exactly what she was getting into. How the hell do you know she didn't?
The way Peirce Morgan treated her on his morning show was just ridiculous. I am certain she was not lying when she said she didnt know she would be leaving the country she was in until she got on the plane. I am certain she didnt know how much drugs she would be carrying and I am certain she didnt know she was actually a scape goat set up to get caught.
The guys who got her to do this.... that is their job. Get a very young high party chick to fall for him and then once she is smitten with him get her to agree to making a lot of money for something he claims is really simple that ends up being extremely worse than claimed and for some people doing it is easy for them because they have no conscience. But for some people you just stress the entire time. When you are young you go through with it realizing its worse than you were told slowly over time while in the middle of it and then your fear is what ends up getting you caught.
The way Peirce Morgan acted toward her... he will always be the biggest jerk on this planet in media. He is an a$$.
Yes she knew she was wrong. But NO she didnt know how much she would be carrying.
NOBODY in their right mind would agree to carry 2 suit causes full of cocaine back from Peru for 5 grand. NOw, you offer me 200k? I MIGHT think about it... if there is a better way then all spread throughout my luggage.
But for some rich smug asshole who never has to worry about paying a bill in his life ever again to judge someone who has nothing for doing something wrong... Go screw yourself you arrogant clown.
she did something horrible but learned and turned her life around praise god
We all learn from mistakes. The fact that she, recognized her mistakes is great 👍.
Embarrassing 😂😂😂😂😂
To all the people taking the moral high ground , you be the first one to throw a stone then . I think her being brave enough to tell her story is going to deter a lot of people from going down the same path . Hope michaela has a happy future ahead of her she deserves it
BULLSHIT !!! glorified criminal, it’s all about the money 👎👎
Oh ok.. SHE gonna deter people from doing that like shes the first one ever to get busted. How many people in history did the exact same shit and got WAAAY more jail time than her.. And none of them, including her, learned a lesson. An infant knows when a stranger approaches you and asks you to bring shit across a boarder you walk the fuck away. She heard "cha ching" and made a decision. End of
No se la ve arrepentida contando su historia, ojala se hubiera quedado más tiempo, por lo que es narcotraficante
So telling her story and making lots of money will determine people .ye ok of you say so. Why not use some.of the Money to start some outlet for change things rather than retail therapy then maybe she would get some respect from me . Now I ain't throwing stones aswe all do wrong but motives are what I respect. True m9te for book is what counts and it seems its for her own financial gain which no sorry I don't respect
@@stephencronin724 well said 👏
All the negative comments on here, I suppose it’s all coming from mini mother Teresa’s is it? She was a young girl that made a terrible mistake and she done her time for it! Good on her for making some money out of this, at least she’s sharing her story to bring awareness to this.
Under 3 years for smuggling 1.5 million worth of coke counts as "done her time"? What a joke. Let that be a man and he's still in prison to this day. White girl privilege.
White privilege at it's finest should have left her to rot there I'd actually pay the Peruvian government to keep them there
The negative comments are justified! All this glorification is disgusting.. and indeed if it was a male he'd at least serve 15+ years, and after getting out would be spit upon.
I liked the book! Michaella clearly learned from her experiences and has a lot to share.
You people condemning her, why not give someone a second chance.
If you give her second chance, she will still do it because her main focus is to get rich
She’s did it to get rich and if it had been a man it would be 10 years with no parole
@@seagreenspiral you're so bitter. She did 3 years in a Peru prison.
Listen to yourself drugs kill people she should of done 15 years not 2 years and 8 mouths
Prison exists for a reason. White girl privilege and the high profile nature of the case spared her another decade in prison. Shining example of inequality in the world. A Peruvian native getting caught for the same thing is probably still serving her sentence now.
People are so cruel to her. She has a very important message to get across.
There are young girls who are easily manipulated by men. There’s a lesson here
Horsey Daniels you’ve clearly been hurt in the past!! 😂
what's the message? Be a scumbag until you get caught then be a victim of big bad men..... piss off!! she was presented with a decision, and she made it. Just cos she is a she, doesnt make he story any different to the rest of the druggie scumbags out there
Victoria.. The story is not that girls are easily manipulated by men. The story is girls that are young are easily manipulated by that care free attitude of just wanting to have fun.
Men can take advantage of that and do. But so do full grown women take advantage of that.
The offer of 5K was what manipulated her. The men just lied about the amount and where she would be going.
They shouldn't be giving her the time of day. Let alone promoting her book.
You know
Buy her book!!!!!
I find Its traumatizing to see how horrible people are being to this girl Michaela, I'm from belfast and having been to ibiza 7 times, i had just returned home from the island when she was on the front of newspapers reported missing. I couldn't wait to buy her book and find out how she ended up in such a fucked up situation. I never write comments on anything but anybody who has anything negative to say about this girl are sad lowlifes, you have the choice to turn the page, channel or look away...I havent heard her ask for sympathy once! hope the money rolls in for you Michaela I admire how she holds it all together given the abuse shes still takin. She looks absolutely gorgeous
You are potentially another Michaella ,so sad to have an opinion like this when everybody knows the serious aftermath of drug misuse,
seanene browne it’s sad to see another Michaela still here 😂😂😂😂 low live you’re the one, go and smug the drugs like her and after being caught come out and make a money with write a book, she should Roth in prison the rest of her life she don’t deserve to out there and given the interview
Your an airheed like her... aye buy her book... wait... are you up for a wee trip to Peru... I’m buying the ticket 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
They say crime doesn't pay 🤦♀️
See it's paid for a new face, hair and god knows what else. Maybe the proceeds should all be donated to a charity!
Why? She's two kids who need the money its over she paid her price why should it go to charity dose the government give there big fat bonuses to charity while snorting coke in toilet cubicles, shes only one woman
state of her lips
Catch yourself on ! Knob rash
Also shes tarnished with this image and probably cant even get a job so I'm happy for her to make money from it
Michale I need to work with you I live in london we can do a good business in here, and get lots of cash😂😂😂 you don’t need to travel to Peru anymore, we going to make a millions pounds
What an amazing strong woman!🙏 A true inspiration!❤️✨🙏🕊 The Media have treated you appallingly....you were groomed and manipulated into smuggling those drugs & then to be abused and manipulated by the media is disgraceful.....I hope you make a fortune with your story and I hope you keep the lot for you and your beautiful family.✨🙏
Inspiration??? Are you for real? A drug mule??? She knew exactly what she was doing, she was money-hungry just the same as for the book.
Strong women ?? A true inspiration ?? SMH 😱
Drug smuggling is just that people .. let's try not to sugarcoat it 🥴
@@blondecat666 She might have been a drug mule but fortunately I doubt she will be as judgemental and self righteous as you for her hellish experience .
Well done!! What we’ve been through or done does not define us!! Keep on keeping on!
Are you taking the piss?she smuggled huge amounts of coke through an international airport and get caught.not your average mistake.and now she's making money out of it.she still should be locked up
Go way they got caught what shes been through fucking hell it's her own fault

I'm so sure that if Michaella would've been a short, dark shin, chubby woman, nobody (except maybe her family) would even bat an eye over her ordeal. Take this comment as you please. 😉
Yes I worked in medical department and girls who did less crime and less drugs are pulling hard time in prison Her white pretty girl privilege has worked for her
Lol
This is what today's society has become.. glorification of former junkie drug smugglers, who are bathing now in money and fame for that reason smh.
All profits from this book should go to organisations that battle the drug trade or that help families destroyed by drugs. Not so she can live a cushy life of botox and fancy cars. She got paid 5000 for smuggling and is still profiting from that one transaction. A transaction that any rational thinking 20 year old , sober or drunk, would know is wrong! She was an adult that made a choice and got busted. She is not, NOT, a victim here. She is one of the many people has helped facilitate the global drugs epidemic. She agreed to be part of a system that murders people and destroys communities.....Making her a celebrity is all kinds of f*cked up!
She's a remarkably strong woman who didn't just merely survive a helllish prison, but came out stronger. Her story is one of resilience and redemption. *That* is why people are not only drawn to her story, but drawn to her. And her book *does* serve an important purpose in raising awareness so other young, naive suckers don't get duped into the most foolish risk of their lives. Good on her for turning her life around and using her experience to help others.
@@robbysoaks Let me ask you. What if she got away with it? How many people's lives would her "accident" have further ruined? Would she have done it again? What's f*cked up here is that if she was a he there would be ZERO book deals or sympathy mongering. Society is selling us the narrative that women are as strong as men. Equal to men. But when she gets busted for drug smuggling she is a weak victim and its men's fault for preying on naive girls!!...... What is it, are women equal or not? She's a scumbag with a good publicist.
@@mrmac6356 It comes down to intent for me. I don't think she thought she'd be ruining anyone's life. At that time of her life, Michaela was doing a shitload of cocaine, along with literally all of her friends, and they were having a blast (youngins can pull off that lifestyle for a while). She was also high at a party when she agreed to it. And even if she was thinking clearly, she could have rationalized that if the customers didn't take 'her' drugs, they'd take just take someone else's. As far as the money from the book, Michaella McCollum said she plans to use profits to pay back her family after her Peruvian imprisonment put them in extreme debt.
Do you really think women have an easier time in life? I don't. And, yes, it is usually some right bastard man dealer looking for a poor sucker to do their dirty work -- it's fact, drug dealers are more often men and they prey on naive people, women and men, looking for 'easy money'. And finally, male drug mules who get caught and go through a hellish prison experience also get plenty of sympathy and well-wishers, once they get themselves free and back on their feet. Just check out the comment sections on episodes of 'Banged Up Abroad'.
But Mr Mac says a categorical 'no' to second chances and people's ability to redeem themselves. That's a harsh way of thinking in my view.
@@robbysoaks ah ok.. So she paid everyone back after the plastic surgery and cars. I dont say no to redemption. I say no to playing the victim amd profiting from crime
@@mrmac6356 I watched all of the episodes of the BBC show 'High" plus a couple of interviews, and I've never heard her "play victim". She took responsibility for her very bad choices/behaviour and didn't make excuses. Sure, when they were arrested in Peru the girls concocted a story of forced coercion, but that's just called trying not to spend 20 years in a Peruvian jail. Talk about an 'oh shit' moment! She managed to get parole after serving less than half her sentence, not by playing victim, but by owning up to her crimes and convincing the parole officers that she'd changed. According to the BBC 'High' series, she *became* a model prisoner, working hard to be a positive force in daily prison life and helping others in multiple ways during those brutal two and a half years. I find that sort of strength admirable when many people would have sunk into despair and self-pity in such circumstances.
Crazy story. How disgusting of these men to target a young naive girl at the age of 19 and decide to ruin her life when it was just starting.
It‘s crazy that she was in one of the most dangerous prisons, thousand of miles away from her family not speaking the language and trapped in her best years in life.
Glad she turned it around❤ very strong woman
I don't think that any 19 year old person, unless they're mentally challenged, doesn't know that drug smuggling is a crime.
@@imabruab Big difference between knowing smuggling drugs is a crime and the amount she was fooled into smuggling.
She never said she didnt know what she was doing was wrong. She said she didnt realize the location or the amount she would be bringing back. That all of that was sprung on her as it was happening after she already agreed to something much different than it ended up actually being.
@@michaelleinbach6249 no difference. It's illegal to smuggle any amount of drugs from one country to another. Doesn't matter if the country is across your border or across the globe.
she wasnt 10 tears old she knew what she was doing she should of spent the 15 year sentance stupid broad/////
I got married when I was 19 and I am 25 and I remember my 19 year old self completely an adult and mature. This woman is just plainly stupid.
Beautiful girl best of luck
There's folk out there doing 20 times worse than this especially the famous so make as much money as you can you paid the price make money for your kids ignore everyone else and remember there is worse people out there than 2 young girls getting caught with drugs the world needs to get over it no ones innocent you need to stop explaining your self to hypocritical people who probably snort more coke than what you tried to smuggle
You could not have said it any better
She "wrote" a book.
She should have spent so much longer in prison. White girl privilege got her only a few years for smuggling 1.5 million worth. Let that be a Peruvian native and they'd throw the book at her. Some joke
Why she is free and when others pay the 10 year prison. it doesn't look fair for the rest of the prisoners with the same grade of offense
Her conviction for drugs smuggling has nothing to do with being a catholic being brought up in a protestant area . From what I have seen on RUclips, she currently has a TV interview campaign going on to promote her book. The basis of the book seems to be self gain/ pity, and she uses the usual selling points of lesbian sex in the gaol ,violence etc in order to make the book more attractive.
I think throwing catholic versus protestant issue only affronts the good people of N Ireland.
The media should not be used by convicted drug smugglers to get free publicity
This girl is really nice, but she deserved everything she got, and tbh folks, I think deep down she’s glad she did it especially now! She’s like some sort of a celeb now - prob loving it.
Totally agree with you, I don't feel bad for her one bit. And the celebrity status thing is just more proof of the dumbing down of society.
After this interview she seems a great role model. Kids would love to follow her footsteps. Get the fuck Haha. All those who are making her out to be the victim need ther heads checked
Think this is a great interview. It’s easy for people to judge her looking in from the outside. Every young person makes stupid mistakes that they are not proud of. She did the time for her crime. She’s seen things and experienced things most of us couldn’t even comprehend. She deserves a second chance and to show people that if you end up going down the wrong path you can still turn your life around and make something positive out of it. I don’t think this will glamorise drug smuggling in any way. It shows that people who end up in these situations can reform themselves. Well done Michaella! I think what you are doing is great! Well done hope the book does well! Can’t wait to read it
Bullshit no one is interested and it pisses people off seeing her. How has she reformed herself ??? She hasn't she is still trying to make money from it. Her Pr firm are very misguided her book won't sell and doesn't deserve to. I may sound harsh but this is what most people think and she decided putting herself in the public eye was a good idea so she has to accept th feedback people give.
She is trying to make money from it and getting interviews all over the country. This is the epitome of glamorising what she did. This does not deserve an ounce of sympathy. I say this as somebody who is strongly in favour of legalizing all drugs.
Very naive.....this is for money and money only
Importing huge amount of life destroyng drugs and youre tryng to make it sound innocent
Tottaly agree with you the girl made a huge mistake she's paid for it so i think she deserves to have a second chance now there's people in the government and celebrities doing 20 times worse and its ignored, im not the same person i was in my 20s everyone grows up she clearly has let the girl move on i say

True 😂
People didn't dislike her for trying to smuggle drugs as much as that she lied about "being forced" to do so. That's what pi55ed off so many people so much.
Her story was embellished sure. But she kinda was manipulated. I know the feeling quite well she describes about how she felt during the entire process. I've been there.
Give her a break guys. She was young and wanted to make easy money. She was enjoying her party lifestyle too much.
She’s paid the price for her mistake. She went through hell in prison and rightly so.
We all make mistakes no matter how big or small , she’s come out the other side a better person
Yes trying to make money for s econd tme out f drugs.....a better person
Yeah so move on in life & stop trying to profit off drugs (for a second time)
3 years for 1.5 million pounds worth is not paying the price. That's chump change of a sentence. A man would still be serving his sentence to this day for the same crime
Why did you have to go to Ibiza ? What happened to you there and where did you work ?
writhing her book, Who she is ? She is a celebrity in UK ?
Got caught smuggling cocaine from Peru to Europe. Was offered £5,000 and accepted it in her naivety. A massive mistake!
She new exactly what she was doing. Making a book again is easy money. She's an easy money chaser. Let me tell you love I've lost family members to drugs. Without the smuggling they may be alive.
