  • Forget about life-work-balance: A new generation of drugs promises unlimited increases in productivity without the need for rest or sleep. “Brain doping” is the latest trend among high flyers. Move over, Aldous Huxley: Pharmaceutical companies work on a Brave New You by developing pills that increase mental capability, stimulate desire, and heighten the mood. A meaningful life full of happiness and success - without side effects. The industry hopes for fantastic profits if the pretty pills become socially acceptable. Do we find ourselves at the dawn of a new era, in which cosmetic neurology is an everyday phenomenon?

if only thinking and memorizing ability is increased I don't see any problem.
but as a bipolar disorder patient, from my personal perspective, I think human intelligent comes with a price.

Vitamin C. I'm 40 and in the best shape of my life. It all boils down to choices you/we make. Eat healthy and exersice....stay away from drugs and alcohol (the hard stuff anyhow, and the lighter stuff in moderation) and get bloodwork/checkups. Take a multi vitamin and drink plenty of water and limit sugar. I smoked and did other "unhealthy" addictions since I was 13 and am alive to talk about it all because I have the acquired "perspectives" on the lives I once lived vs my life now.

Teaching myself as is, to have a constant clear train of brain space available to except new information of the present. Personal development and experience.

Match the feeling of reading a good book, you can't put it down. My brain doesn't want to stop researching until I get what I'm digging deeply into. I have to be heavily medicated to sleep about 4 hours if that. I also loose hunger and thirst during these times .

Also like sport, you can significantly improve performance without the artificial enhancements.

it is safe to say that artificially enhancing your brain power will yield fluttering long term results.

If its good enough to do the trick, its already sold itself to your dopamine and is now required or you will lag behind.
Late 80s when meth was good (from a users perspective) I thought it was the greatest drug on Earth. I was thinking faster, working harder.
But like the Dr. In the Bladerunner quoted: The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long. I wont say my mentality decreased, but at some point it did peak. And then there's the physical deterioration. More than what just comes with natural aging.
Maybe if euphoria was not aquired, it may not be addicting. But the mental and physical charge was the rush, for me anyways.
So I dont know how it could increase brainpower without causing physical or mental dependancy.

If we were meant to have more access to our abilities then we need to remove the crap from our lives/food/water as we are constantly modifying our genes
