It’s good to apply gasket seal in a good amount and let it dry and set slightly (rubberise) for a few hours before applying joint back together.
I have a brand new 2024 rav that had the roof replaced this past winter. I just noticed this leaking happening in the front and back passenger side and got super frustrated after all I’ve been thru with this car, already having to bring it back after the repair. Thank god for your video, this seems like an easy (enough) fix relatively speaking! Ugh I’m so relieved. Fingers crossed 🤞
INteresting, may I ask why you had the roof replaced and did the replacement casuse the leak?
Wow, thank you! I thought it was likely my hatch gasket that was leaking, but I can see that I have the same exact issue you have with the leaking so now I know how to fix it. I will call Toyota first where I bought it, they have fixed a couple things after warranty, which really surprised me.
Thank you! Great video!
Good video, thanks!!
Ty so much
Wow I just saw the leak on mine lol , crazy sh** thanks brother!! i will do it myself even though mine have 34k miles 2019 (so like that I don’t have to go to the dealer )
Good job brother
I just looked videos like this up for the sirens. I have no sun roof same reason as you. It's leaking in the b pillar passenger. The seatbelt was wet, and moldy. Nothing else was discolored. Yup they recommended same glue.
I just did mine today and fixed them!!
We just discovered our leak yesterday
I bought an extended and kept in touch with the local dealership.
In Canada: got special warranty extension notice this week, they will fix all resulting damage 10years no km restriction
Hi thanks for sharing the video. Instead of using Permatex Ultra Black which sticks permanently and difficult to remove, will the Easy-Disassembly Optimum Black also work but perhaps less reliable?
Hi, I’m not planning on removing those rails ever again, for me is perfect
Does just a regular waterproof silicone sealant work and as well as the gasket maker?
Yes
I assume you are in the US but in Canada I just got a Warranty Enhancement Program notice from Toyota Canada for my Rav4 Hybrid Limited. It covers 2019-2021 Rav4, Rav4 Hybrid and 2021 Rav4 Prime.
"The specific condition covered by this program is roof rail water leaks from the roof rail mounting clips. If a water leak has been verified, the vehicle will be inspected and repaired with new roof rail clips, and Toyota will clean, replace and/or repair water damaged parts under the terms of this Warranty Enhancement Program. The Warranty Coverage is applicable for 10 years from the date of first use, regardless of the mileage".
now the question is do I wait until it leaks or do I fix it now, myself.?
@Josh_James76 take it to the dealer, they should have a fix by now
@@BulletSolano I called the other day and they said that unless it's leaking they're not fixing it. So I don't know if I should fix it myself and not worry about it or wait until it starts fixing to take it to the dealer?
Fixing it is really easy, just follow the video!
@@BulletSolano I know right.
I had the front leak, both sides. Lots of hidden damage covered by Toyota. Keep pushing them. Campaign info coming.
Both my back are leaking, I am over warranty as my car is a 2020 with over 50k miles. How did you get them to cover the damage?
I just discovered a leak on my right side front pillar and my rear side also smh
Time to take mine apart. I noticed they drastically changed the rail on the new ones.
What year? Is this fixed now 2023 and up?
2021, 2022 and up are fixed
Awesome thank you! @@BulletSolano
@@BulletSolanoI’ve read some owners of 23 and 24 had this issue.
@dohc1974 crazy
Does 2022 rav4 have the same water leak issue?
Not after 2021
If i do this and it still leaks, will the warranty be voided?
It shouldn’t leak, but yes it will voided the warranty
Are we still under warranty? Our car has 47000 miles. We are in the United States...
(Although I'll probably just fix it myself so they don't mess it up)
There’s a new campaign for it now. They’re going to handle my 2019 with 48k miles soon
Rav4 prime 2023 8 months old … I got in it this morning and it was leaking by the center lights
Go to the dealership
@@BulletSolano The stealership can barely do oil change I will not trust them with that work
Very stupid design by Toyota. We have ordered a new 2024 and waiting is around 6 months, ive read that it shouldn’t have an issue but im not convinced after seeing those little gaskets and they expect the plastic clips to prevent water intrusion, unless it is a totally different design. Hope so but will looking into it. Great video Brother thank you. Best wishes 🙏❤️
Thanks
Im have the leak but in front pillar top area , also a lot of water getting inside door panels, every tima it rains ..
Mine is 2019 the dealer told me to bring it they will fix it.
Toyota came out with a remedy recall for roof rail leak. You should call Toyota because they are extended the warranty for the roof-rail 2035
I went to the dealership I worked at, they suck they didn’t wanna fixed it, that’s why I did that myself
Did it work?
Yes
I did it today.
You will never get it off again.
You sure?
