    The fires from EV vehicles are bad. Any truck fire is bad, but the EV batteries put off poison gas and are very difficult to put out.

    Retired now, but I drove for a small fleet based out of the Cincinnati Ohio area. The owner made a point of buying the newest trucks with the least emissions equipment. My last truck had a DD15 that used DEF. Thankfully we ran lots of miles so we generally didn’t have problems; what do fleets do that idle a lot-dumps, tow trucks, vactor trucks, etc, when it’s time for a regen? I still care about the business but I’m sure glad I never bought my own truck, even though that had been a dream of mine. And I agree about battery fires-having slept in trucks a lot, I have a real problem with the idea of a human sleeping in the bunk while charging a huge battery pack. I think the engineers who build this stuff should be truckers for a year so they can understand. We all know that will NEVER happen. Keep up the good work Justin.

    Deletions are happening well before 1M miles. You can't stay in business if you keep trying to keep a SCR system going after a certain point. It's just a bad system and it isn't even required to be clean. Trucks can run plenty clean without a SCR system.

  • @ronnieterry4916
    @ronnieterry4916 5 дней назад +1

    I hear everything that you are saying. Truck manufacturers aren't building trucks that are reliable. Caterpillar quit putting their engines in big trucks because they couldn't keep the engines running without problems with the exhaust filters and associated components. The last year that Caterpillar put their engines in big trucks was 2010 or 2011. One component called an ARD head will require replacement about every one or two years and the cost of the part is around a thousand dollars and the labor is about five hundred more dollars and then add about six hundred more dollars to clean the exhaust filter. Cleaning the exhaust filter requires taking the filter off and baking it to get rid of the sut that has been collected. Then there is the thing with re-gen the way it is supposed to work if you are driving the truck and using less than eighty percent of the engines horses power re-gen is supposed to take care of doing re-gen without having to park to do a re-gen. However to do most re-gen requires parking the truck for about one half hour while the truck does a re-gen. It's like you said the trucks don't operate correctly but the truck manufacturers don't fix them but just keep building more trucks.

    Zero emissions trucks do not exist. The energy has to come from somewhere. Whether it’s coal or diesel. Diesel fuel pound for pound is the most efficient way to move a truck down a highway. A good chunk of power is still generated by coal or natural gas. Solar and wind don’t even come close.

    Interesting video, you should come to the UK and Europe, we have had emissions trucks for decades with very little issues and more and more companies are using electric and gas powered vehicles. And loads of buses are electric. Not meaning this as an insult but your trucking industry in the states seems miles behind on this and some of the players are the same. Volvo for instance. Companies run Euro6 and 7 models which have very strict imitation restrictions and have to have multiple camera systems all round to help both drivers and pedestrians, it’s just the norm over here you very rarely see trucks over 10 years old on the roads.

    • @ilovemydad1416
      @ilovemydad1416 6 дней назад +1

      Well that is awesome, unfortunately here in the states it’s all about who pays the most. And who can make the most, by paying off politicians if you can pay a politician to pass stupid laws , then you can manufacture shite equipment that has all sorts of problems to make more money in repairs. In Europe you all also don’t run Peterbilt, Kenworth, Freightliner, and a few others. It’s all about the money here

None of the manufacturers want to delete all of the electronics I don’t think are needed. So I’m stuck kind of. Curious how they can sell a truck supposedly custom made for the customer and then tell the customer you’ll have all this stuff you don’t want or need. My cat pulls allllllll the way to the 2300 rpm governor. This x15 is strapped at 1700 rpm, and its harsh with the cutoff. Its not smooth and doesnt pull worth a dam compared to the older cat, which also has emissions. In my opinion, the x15 engine is wayyyyyyyy over blown with the claims. Its now got 185k on it and been in the shop quite a few times for..... you guessed it, emissions problems. Everything new just seems to suck anymore. Most drivers look forward to getting a new truck. Justin ,I just watched the whole video. I disagree with you.
    I’ve been a truck driver for 35 years with DEF trucks some of that time .
    I’ll keep this short, but we just came off the hottest summer on the planet.
    Manufactures like Mercedes and Scania are moving forward with the cleanest trucks possible.
    Should American manufactures be left behind in our own little bubble.
    Maybe your mechanic is lazy and doesn’t wanna do the work on DEF equipped trucks.
    I see many (beautiful) trucks every day that have a big DEF tank on the side with no black soot marks on the exhaust pipe tip.
    How long do you actually plan to run dirty trucks. Are you really making that much more money, getting one over on the thousands of other fleets that run DEF equipped trucks here, in the bubble of the United States, and across the world.
    As you know, China and others are moving full forward with electrification of cars and trucks. I hope our United States does not lose out on this potentially great industry, and all the jobs that come with it.
    Rolling coal is nothing to be proud of.

    Hi Justin, here in Europe several trucks are already driving electrically and it is even the case that large cities in Europe close the city center to diesel trucks and you are only allowed to enter with an electric truck
    and as you know, most American brands are owned by European brands such as Volvo, Mercedes, Volkswagen and even the Paccar engine, the M13 is Dutch, it is a Daf engine, so the European manufacturers have already extensively tested the engines.
    the American market must only want to switch to electric and personally I think hydrogen is better than electric
