I just bought 4 Par lights 36 led's. I'll be making my own small studio for my own little worship that I would like to play for youtube and Twitch. I have a question. With the Par lights can I shine it up on the Ceiling and have it facing towards my webcam? Not directly but just enough to see the par lights change colors.
You’d have a much greater effect putting the color on a wall so the camera sees the color there. Unless there is some haze of some sort, you won’t see the color “through the air.” Another option could be to place them on the floor and point them upward. Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Awesome info. Is there a way to reach you guys and get a little more in depth in lighting and controls? looking to start a system in my church and need help
I’d like a few recommendations or ideas for an inexpensive stage design and lighting setup. I can send pictures of our church if necessary. I’m trying to update our current look to give it some new life.
rogerstoryteller thanks for your comment! Check out our video on Par Cans and Ellipsoidal's. At the end we share some formulas for calculating distances and optimal angles between fixture, floor and stage! Hope this helps.
Thank you . Looking for lighting for a start up Ministry events (100-200) people, both in and outdoor with a budget of 300 USDs for lighting. What would you say I must absolutely, absolutely have to create beautiful experiences ... thanks
MIRRORS UG there are several things you might need and there’s no way $300 will cover even a decent full setup. With that budget I would focus on led par cans for up / accent lighting. You may could even get a low cost DMX controller for that amount, depending on how many fixtures you need.
For the super budget conscious, something like this may provide biggest impact for your dollars. LED Par Lights for Stage Lighting, OPPSK Super Bright 30W COB RGB Tricolors Stage Lights by Remote DMX Control for Church Wedding DJ Lights Party www.amazon.com/dp/B0797QDJ1D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_0W2cBbNXSA5BT
We use Martin LightJockey. It’s a super old software that only runs on windows XP, but it does everything we need it to do and it’s what we’ve learned to use.
Ryan Raymer Thanks for your message! If I remember correctly, one was a Maxxlite wash box (pretty sure international knockoff), a Chauvet Colorado zoom, a 3in1 puck and a 10mm puck. I am not a fan of the 10mm fixtures as the 3in1 or 4in1 Led fixtures are comparable in price and far superior in performance in my opinion. The upper line fixtures cannot be bought on amazon. But if you have a working knowledge of DMX fixtures and know what you are looking for and the right questions to ask, AliExpress.com is a great place to look. As for amazon... I use both of these fixtures below on a weekly basis. The wash bars for our back walk in a portable church environment and the led "cans" for back lighting for our weekly announcement videos. I have been impressed. They are not built for touring by any means, but in our church environment, they are great. Hope this helps! www.amazon.com/dp/B01CTRO36I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_wUDYybG0VWS98 www.amazon.com/dp/B0118UQFZ4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_uVDYybY5GVGPD
Any of the DMX physical fader/controllers work about the same. I personally use Light Jockey. The software for your computer is free and the usb/dmx dongle is about $100 or so. But it is all controlled from a computer. In my case an old Sony VAIO running windows XP. The software is fairly straightforward and allows me to save a whole bunch of scenes in a way that people can see them to select and run. Hope that helps!
certainly more expensive, but having the option to have one fixture with multiple colors and not have to mess with multiple fixtures and gels, is an advantage. But I agree, there is a higher up front investment.
INITIALLY.. yes. However, the costs of maintenance are less (you don't need to change light bulbs), cost of use (lower electrical needs) and ease of setup/teardown against versatility means incandescents are .. dead.
Nice cranium accessory!
tekarts it’s like a headband for bald people!

Brandon, out church has the ETC PAR fixtures with the 750 watt halogen, do they make an LED with a matching base as the halogen?

Informative. enjoyed it.
But "versatile"
What is a 'median' distance? How far from the stage qwould you place your slim par cans? Thanks!

James world I live in central Mississippi now. I'd love to help if it's possible.
Could you list links to the specific lights on amazon? I'd like to know if there is a more prefered brand or wattage.

Do you have a suggestion on a low cost lighting board for 4 areas (2 lights/area) and some wall wash lights?
I was looking at the Chauvet OBEY70 Universal DMX-512 Controller

Good
They are more energy efficient no doubt, but more expensive, trust me...
