    The most detailed yet simple instructional on side control I've seen. It includes what the opponent will try to do and how to readjust to maintain control. For a white belt like myself, this is gold. Thank you so much. Oos

    Don't understand why anyone would thumbs down this. Either they no nothing about BJJ, they don't like him, or they think they have something way better. Excellent instructions and technique.

    I don't know why, but this just makes perfect sense and seems simple than the way other people explain it

    awesome detail/point at 1:45, people often forget its not just about controlling the hips.

    Judo (柔道)
    Technique Comparison
    Osaekomi-waza (抑込技) - pins or matholds control and transitions:
    3:11 Yoko-shiho-gatame (横四方固): Side four quarter hold - Using the hip to control;
    4:44 Kuzure-kesa-gatame (崩袈裟固): Broken scarf hold - Transition to prevent a knee escape;
    5:53 Ushiro-kesa-gatame (後袈裟固): Reverse Scarf Hold - Facing the legs, using hip to shoulder to pin;
    7:49 Kami-shiho-gatame (上四方固): Upper four quarter hold down - Transition to North-South then to the other side control;
    PS:
    Mount - Tate-shiho-gatame (縦四方固): Vertical four quarter hold
    Knee-on-belly - Uki-gatame (浮固): Floating hold

    very very good video i like the key points. I'm a long time going blue belt and get annoyed when im cross faced in side control. Sometimes this will give me a no brainer arm bar other times it forces me to go knee on belly. any advice so as to keep side control. Thanks and great tips

    • @AnonymousPerson488
      @AnonymousPerson488 7 лет назад +1

      Xande kind of addresses this in the video. When the guy on the bottom cross faces, you can switch to a modified side control with your hand on the ground by his hip and your other hand over his head, rather than under it. He shows this scenario at 6:30. Unless I'm mistaken about your question.

    but controlling the hips like with head up isn’t leaving room for the frames to come in

    When I go diagonal and leave my legs so close to his, my sparring partners always hooks my leg like Eddie Bravo did to royler

    Saulo you need to set up an "OK" match between Xande and Lovato Jr. To decide the "OK" winner. OK I mean Ok. Great information can be annoying when OK is said every other word. OK.
