This reminds me of Meigs Field in Chicago, a manmade Lakefront 1934 world's fair island converted to an airport for business travelers. Mayor Daley had bulldozers tear up the runway one night for security reasons (two years after 911 I recall) and it was eventually turned into a concert venue. So a former air strip for the rich is now an entertainment center for the rich...progress!
