This is so true. Listening to any BBC radio station is a wonderful experience. The minute you switch to a regular station you realise how stressful it is to listen to a program constantly being interrupted by advertising. I've listened exclusively to BBC radio for the past 27 years and will continue to do so until I die. Please don't ever privatise this amazing institution.
Jay's voice is so super well suited for... Any voice Job! It sounds like it was recorded in a recording booth, so perfwctly pitched and lovely tone and pronounciation as well!
Even for those outside Britain it's a damn handy thing. It's a source which you know you can trust and you know is a "people's" thing, "for the public good" type.
As do all my mates in London and every bloke in the North, it all depends on how you say it , it's everything from a term of endearment to an instant fight.
I've heard fellow Newfoundlanders call others "me old cocky". I've jokingly called a friend a cunt. I would never seriously cuss at someone unless they absolutely deserved it. As said in the video, there are definitely words I would never use because they are simply too vile, and when I hear someone else saying them I judge them immediately.
Well look, I'm not from the UK. There are tons of English accents and I'm not familiar enough with them to be able to tell region just by listening. What I do know is I enjoy his accent which is not a crime and people could just not be judgy about it. I'm sure that I'm the only one ever to have a favorite accent.
I've watched this video a few times recently and I've finally worked out why it appeals to me so much. It is so refreshing to see someone passionately talk about how remarkable the BBC is. Yes it has its issues but it really is an incredible institution. I honestly believe it's as important as the NHS
@@sirwizalot7164 Hi! I'd love an example of this propaganda? I'm very open minded and can change my mind if presented with strong enough evidence. A call of propaganda has to be pretty strongly backed up, I'd need a very strong set of examples to go with you on this but open to it. From what I can tell all sides of the political divide tend to not be keen on the BBC, which to me is a strong indication that it's doing something right. It has its problems, not exactly delighted about the coverage it gives to the likes of Steve Bannon or Tommy Robinson but most institutions have their issues. It doesn't mean we should dismantle the whole thing.
@MichaelKingsfordGray Hi there! Sadly not a BBC employee, although I'd love the wages. Also thankfully no mental health issues. I do know several people who do have their problems though and it really does upset me seeing what they're going through. To equate my very mild defence of the BBC with such issues seems a bit below the belt. Not to me, I can take it, but trivialising mental illness is something I personally don't engage in. Each to their own of course, your right to free speech is incredibly important. Luckily we have an institution such as the BBC through which we can express these views.
@MichaelKingsfordGray I've no idea what your views are other than you don't like the BBC so going to have to base it on that. Have you ever listened to Feedback on Radio 4 on a Friday afternoon? Some of the strongest criticism of the BBC you're ever likely to hear right there on the BBC. The BBC news channel is consistently runs segments on problems with the corporation. I agree it has its issues, as do all major institutions, but the concept and I believe intent of the BBC and the vast majority of its employees like positive. Criticisms can only help them improve
@MichaelKingsfordGray Well I'm genuinely interested. I've been quite open with my opinion but you don't seem to be sharing much. If I'm wrong I apologise but I'd be keen to know your opinion. Very open minded so there's a chance you could convert me.
@MichaelKingsfordGray To your way of thinking. Is that not the whole point of debate and discussion? I'm trying to understand where you're coming from but it is difficult as you don't share much. If you don't want to then no problem, that's your right but if so there's no point continuing with this discussion. Regardless, an interesting exchange which for the most part was fairly civil. Another rarity these days.

Very articulate analysis of British television. Usually in these videos I find something that I don’t agree with from the British side but the points were so well made that I couldn’t today
As Russian viewer, I can say that some British reality shows look much less over dramatized and fake than there US counterpart (kitchen nightmares, shark tank/dragons den)
Indeed, US shows loooooove to flood their shots with tears and that damn sad tinny piano music. Kitchen Nightmares US is an example, the UK version is much more focused on the business stuff and food, whereas the US one is saturated with sob stories.
A cool thing to mention would have been the Welsh/Gaelic channels (S4C, BBC Alba and TG4). That are only shown in Wales, Scotland and Ireland, which sometimes show adverts in their own language ✌️
Another example of a show that didn't translate to the U.S. is "Top Gear." The Brit version was great (until Clarkson left) and the U.S. version was ... just ... awful.
John Bartholf the newest series with paddy, Freddy flintoff and the other guy. Is actually good. They seem to have authentic banter like the original trio. I still watch the old episodes like the Christmas special each Christmas
The thing with top gear is it didn't need an American remake, as the original was already successful in America. It was remade just for the sake of remaking it..
The major problem with the american version is advertisers. Having those means you cant trash any bad product because you could be offending a potential source of income. Top Gear is kind of pointless if the hosts cant speak the truth about the things they are testing.
Only over here because of Jay’s channel. Really interesting to see the difference in comfortability in interacting with people on camera. Evan is clearly uncomfortable and has “the show” in mind whereas Evan is very laid back and is just having a conversation with his friend. Trying to be interesting to fans vs. just having a conversation
I disagree. I just think Americans like to either have a lighthearted show to distract from the real world or hear jokes about what is happening in the US no one really noticed but once pointed out it’s funny. Americans want to laugh out of happiness not because someone got hurt. Like the turtle not being killed on the American comedy makes sense because Americans don’t want to see a dead turtle.
Faith with the dead turtle he was pointing out that American comedy too is censored, and due to it being so censored can ruin jokes. I would count modern family as a light humored show, and I just watched an episode where Jay had just killed a turtle. Obviously in a cruel way people don’t want to watch turtles being killed, but in comedy especially in the UK anything goes , and done right it can be hilarious. UK humor in my opinion because it doesn’t have to be as censored is better. British humor is sarcastic humor that I can relate to more. I find it more enjoyable and laugh way more watching a British Panel show or Graham Norton than I do watching SNL.
“The US office was fine” *This is a grounds for war!!!* I personally like both, though I do think British humor has an certain edge compared to American humor that is just great. Love me some dark humor
Such a brilliant episode...great to see Evan sharing a conversation with someone who has the same level of communication skills...can't wait until next weeks now..btw, I love the BBC :)
@@Dorian_B_73 they've done it at the Edinburgh fringe a few times I believe since they stopped making it here in the UK(Far easier to stage a show in a theatre than get someone to film it I suspect), I can't get into the American version for some reason, It's not a specific thing I can pin it on either(a couple of the uk regulars are in it and I ordinarily like the other participants generally) just doesn't click for me sadly so I'd welcome more UK episodes

As an American, “Would I Lie to You?” is the greatest show produced in any English speaking country.
The Lee, Mitchell and Bryden dynamic is phenomenal. I love WILTY also. Great show.
Your man Jay knows his shit. Great episode.

I thought the contrast between American and British humour was really interesting! Loved the video as usual hahaha
We had Jay as the entertainment for our wedding. I was a bit upset that everyone was chatting during his part, but his songs were so much fun for my husband and I.

Jays voice is just brilliant.. also I love the "the British version, the original..." 😂 Deffo made me laugh
this is probably the most education British Vs American ever produced
I don't think it's been mentioned, but when US cartoons were shown in the UK on channels like boomerang and cartoon network, they stuck to UK ad breaks and that meant there were parts where an ad break was obviously meant to go like a cliffhanger moment which would go to black and then the scene would continue slightly after without an ad break. I remember it most on Scooby Doo.

It's lovely to see some BBC positivity. The privatisation of it would be an awful mistake were it ever to happen.
It’s a fucking TV channel, not schools, or social security.
Oh, yeah. That. Yup. Forget what I said. Never privatize the BBC. BBC > American news.
Even for those outside Britain it's a damn handy thing. It's a source which you know you can trust and you know is a "people's" thing, "for the public good" type.
BBC are child molesting scumbags
BBC just need to get rid of their leftist bias, call it down the line and all will be well. It is in their own hands.
I LOVED Coupling so much! Much ruder and more real than friends. No one ever mentions it, so thanks for that 🤗
They try to make a US version ... Failed miserably. Best episode of the UK show.. the woman with 2 breast
As a Scotsman. We sometimes use the C word as a term of endearment, for friends etc. A bit like "Baw Bag" or "ya fanny".

Jay Foreman has my absolute favorite British accent. Love these episodes with him. Very interesting and fun to listen to lol
Might as well say he has a European accent or a Terran accent. He has a southern English accent ;)

Oh my God I started watching Jay Foreman 5 days ago and have watched every single video on the channel. I'm so glad he's here
As Russian viewer, I can say that some British reality shows look much less over dramatized and fake than there US counterpart (kitchen nightmares, shark tank/dragons den)
Indeed, US shows loooooove to flood their shots with tears and that damn sad tinny piano music. Kitchen Nightmares US is an example, the UK version is much more focused on the business stuff and food, whereas the US one is saturated with sob stories.
omg i so excited for this,i love these videos!

I'm just replying to say I agree
A cool thing to mention would have been the Welsh/Gaelic channels (S4C, BBC Alba and TG4). That are only shown in Wales, Scotland and Ireland, which sometimes show adverts in their own language ✌️
True, but Ireland is a separate country from the UK.

I don't think that Top Gear is inherently British; it could work well in any country.
This makes me unusually proud of the UK lol
Only over here because of Jay’s channel. Really interesting to see the difference in comfortability in interacting with people on camera. Evan is clearly uncomfortable and has “the show” in mind whereas Evan is very laid back and is just having a conversation with his friend. Trying to be interesting to fans vs. just having a conversation
UK humor is better than the US.
It is, hands down!
In general it is but the US has some brilliant comedians too.
I couldn't see Americans setting a comedy in the trenches during World War One...

The British morning shows where they sit around and read the newspapers is another oddity in UK TV.

My pain was life on Mars, a fantastic show, about a guy hit by a car, who wakes up in the 70’s and the issue is the difference between modern and 70’s policing, a David Bowie song is intrinsic. The American version, they are literally on a spaceship, travelling to Mars.
