    I tried this out too by pausing the video after each question - it was so fun!
    However, I am slightly confused by this. One, the criterion is that the “quickest route” is the one with the fewest changes, not necessarily the fewest stops (which would be better). Two, based on this rule, Jay’s final answer was actually incorrect - for the fewest changes, you should take the Northern Line to Waterloo or London Bridge and change for the Jubilee line to Swiss Cottage.

    • @Sp4wnEffect
      @Sp4wnEffect Год назад +62

    • @acmenipponair
      @acmenipponair 10 месяцев назад +82

      Often it's better to use a route with more stops instead of one transfer more, as you can always have the problem that you miss the tube by 1-2 minutes and then have to wait for 3-7 minutes, also transfer at many stations will take another one to three minutes often, which is compareable to one to two stops more just staying on the train.

    • @hairyairey
      @hairyairey 10 месяцев назад +8

      The last one would have been quicker as it involves fewer stops and probably a quicker change. There are several stations where you wouldn't want to change trains due to the walking distance involved. Don't if there is a nearby solution.

    • @amitbasu8159
      @amitbasu8159 10 месяцев назад +25

      I live near Swiss Cottage Station. While you are correct about it requiring just the one change by taklng the Northern Line to Waterloo or London Bridge, no-one would ever do that as in terms of time the journey is far longer overall - far more stations involved, and also a long walk between platforms, particularly if you change at London Bridge. In practice you would either take Jay's route or do the second change at Baker Street. Or better still, take the Northern Line to Euston, then one stop on the Overground to South Hampstead, then walk about to Swiss Cottage station, which is about 200m away.

    • @hairyairey
      @hairyairey 10 месяцев назад +13

      @@amitbasu8159 Most of the big tube stations have a long walk between tube lines and it's not accidental. It's the easiest way to control the flow of passengers. Before the recent upgrade of Victoria station they had to close the station regularly.

    Well done Jay. Love your RUclips videos. So well researched and informative.
    I got the Ruislip Garden to Upney (1 change at Mile End). Coz I use that route (not necessary those stations).

    @nathangamble125 8 месяцев назад +4

    You didn't mark his second answer, for Neasden to Angel.
    He actually got it wrong though, because he said you take the Jubilee Line from Neasden to Waterloo, then the Northern Line, but this requires an extra change at Kennington to the other branch of the Northern Line. You pass through fewer stations while still making 2 changes if you take the Jubilee Line to Finchley Road, then the Metropolitan Line to King's Cross St Pancras, then the Northern line to Angel.

    It's funny that at 7:05 you can see his face realising it's definitely not the quickest route by a large amount and then Stephen says you were correct and Jay did a massive supprised face lol. Choosing the routes with the fewest changes doesn't mean the quickest so it's weird the show did it like that but oh well. And now with the Elizabeth Line there's probably some routes to Ealing Broadway that would be twice as fast as the next quickest alternative but would count as a wrong answer on the show lol. Still cool though.

    • @ChristianConrad
      @ChristianConrad 8 дней назад

      You could even say it's up to four lines, since besides the fork in the North-East you have the varying stops in the South-West. But I guess it's really max three -- or still only two -- isn't it? Which is a weird result from two times two, but I'm guessing with every other traing going left and every other right at Itis, and every other stopping at Tapiola and every other going on to Kivenlahti, you get just Myllyäki - Kivenlahti and Vuosaari - Tapiola. Or if it's the other way around, Idunno.

    Neasden to Angel:
    Get the grey-coloured line (Which is Jubilee) and switch to the pink-coloured line. (Which is Hammersmith and City) Then, you can take the Northern line via King's Cross St. Pancras and get to Angel station.
    Kenton to East Finchley:
    Have the Jubilee line and switch to Hammersmith and City line. Take the Northern line via Easton and take left or right track on the start of the Southern section of that line. Thus, get via right lane and enter East Finchley.
    Hammersmith to Marble Arch:
    Simple! You can take Piccadilly to Holborn and switch to the orange-coloured line (Which is Central) then stop to the Marble Arch.
    Simple one! Of course, I am a Jay Foreman fan and I message this for you my fellows to know the London Underground!

    Was the last answer correct though? If the deciding factor for the best rout is the fewest changes, then you could change directly from the Northern Line to the Jubilee London Bridge (or Waterloo, I don't know about the service pattern of the Northern Line at Camden Town). Which is one change less than the two Jay gave.
