    i agree that the greatly increased resolution in the 6 is a bit overkill lol i remember when i first saw the announcement for it, i thought it was just like an xt-5 with a fixed lens 😅
    the best camera is the one you actually take out to shoot and in my case, it just happened to be my x100v haha! thanks for letting me be a part of this vid!!

    wow, i actually really like that you bring up and bounce around different points by other reviewers because it helps make this video the one video to summarize all of those. it brings up the final questions after the more technical reviews. It shows that one negative to one person, is sometimes a nitpick rather than a real negative that you're going to see in the real world.

    I say buy one ONLY if you can find one for the original price. Unless you have so much money it is not a concern.
    There are 3.5mm TRS - to 2.5mm TRS cables available so no adapter required. If you don't bring the proper cable it's not the fault of Fujifilm.
    40mp is great for the tele-crop 50mm-70mm option. Plenty of resolution to make it totally usable. I loved this on my X100F but the image did suffer.
    And about RAW ... the appeal of this camera is the jpeg film simulations. I only shoot RAW if I'm being paid. And high capacity cards and drives are abundant and affordable.
    Weight - I have never shot with a Leica. The high standard for street work. How much do those suckers weigh? They look heavy to me.

      @WesKriesel  13 дней назад

      Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment. Good point on the raw files. I actually shoot raw and jpeg but basically never touch the raw files unless it's an emergency. I just dial in a fujifilm recipe that has a look my client would like and give them the jpegs SOOC. It's been a gamechanger not having to edit. And of course, for personal shots, even more confidence shooting that way!

      Fantastic! I love my X-S10 and X-H2s. I had the X-T5 on loan from Fuji at one point, but the ergonomics didn't suit me (similar story with the X-T4 - I bought it and sold it).

    I bought the X100V a little over a year ago. I’d been coveting an X100 series camera since the announcement of the X100F but wasn’t in the financial position to actually buy one until a couple of years ago, by which point they were almost impossible to come by. I set stock alerts, but still couldn’t get through the check out fast enough to beat the scalpers. I eventually got lucky; however, with rumours that the X100VI announcement was just around the corner, I debated selling my brand new X100V for a profit and putting the money aside for when preorders opened for the X100VI. Ultimately I decided to keep the X100V and pass on the X100VI. I may be lying to myself to make myself feel better, but I do think that the X100VI is over-engineered. While I can see the creative possibilities of IBIS for stills photography, the 40MP sensor and upgraded processor go far beyond my use case for this camera. The X100V is practically perfect for what I use it for, and if I needed the advanced features of the X100VI I’d probably prefer to have them on a camera with interchangeable lenses like the XT5.

    • @WesKriesel
      @WesKriesel  10 дней назад

      Sounds like you made a solid decision to stick with the X100V! It really hits that sweet spot for what many people love about the X100 series-simplicity, portability, and a classic feel. I agree that the X100VI’s upgrades, like the 40MP sensor and IBIS, might be overkill for everyday shooting. If you're not pushing those features to the max, the X100V is still an awesome tool. Plus, like you said, if you need that extra power, an interchangeable lens camera like the XT5 might be a better fit. Enjoy your X100V-it's a win!

    I own the X-T2,3,5 and don't see the need personally, especially cause it's fixed lens. That said, they should've upgraded the lens on the VI in regards of the new sensor and AF speed. Size was never an issue for me, if it came to that I would go for the Ricoh GR series.
    Edit: also it can't be mentioned enough that at this point and the way Fujifilm (not) handles the current AF situation on their current gen bodies, I wouldn't recommend buying into Fujifilm at all.

    • @WesKriesel
      @WesKriesel  13 дней назад +1

      Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. The fixed lens was initally the attraction for me - so I wouldn't have to decide on which lenses to bring on a trip! However, I find I really like the "PASM" dial cameras from Fuji more than their other lines. The X-S10 and X-H2s make a great combo. It's funny you mention the AF issues. That's the video I'm editing right now - should be out this week. How they are handling the AF issues is driving me away from the brand!

    • @JakeChambersOy
      @JakeChambersOy 13 дней назад

      @@WesKriesel good, the more exposure this issue gets the better. I have my ways to deal with it, but I really feel tricked in upgrading to the X-T5. Well I needed a second body to replace my X-T2 for work and I was already invested into Fujifilm. Even with AF-S there's often backfocusing which doesn't make any sense.

    With the rolling shutter performance, I think it's important to put it in some context. It is objectively slow, but there are a number of very popular cameras with similarly slow readouts: Sony a7IV, a7R5, Fujifilm X-H2, X-T5 (same sensor and processor, on surprise), and the DJI Osmo Pocket 3, just to name a few. I don't own an X100, so I don't really care, I just wanted to be a know-it-all. Fun video!

    Coming from the A7IV + GM 35mm I was pretty disappointed with the image quality (muddy and washed out photos) and the performance of the camera, taking photos is slow, for some reason the Fuji is thinking too much even after taking a single photo lol it takes like a second or two this is just unacceptable IMO. Oh yeah and the so called retro filters is nonsense, even Lr has better built-in presets so getting this Fuji for those filters is just a waste of money. Lastly I don't know whats the deal with Fuji raw files but Lr has real real hard time processing Fuji files.
    Lastly AF just sucks...

      I can only assume you were using film sims on jpeg, if the clarity is up on a sim it will slow storing up as the processor is doing its in camera job for the film sim. I shoot to edit so all is zeroed out. The film sims are there to use on Photo Raw and i assume LR. I have never had a washed out or muddy exposure out of the XT3, XT5 or the X100 V.
