I also preordered on day one. After six weeks I canceled the order. B&H couldn’t tell me when I could expect to receive the camera nor what number I was on the waiting list. I purchased one on Craigslist for co$t. A frustrating experience. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
Yikes Try a smaller business I got mine from gigaparts in about 5 months But i kept bothering them and asking for updates almost every week so I suspect that helped me get it in that relatively short time.
Thanks for the video … great overview! On the eye autofocus issue with multiple faces: in Continuous focus mode, I’m always set to Tracking (with eye-af on), which gives me that tracking-box that I can default to center or move around the screen. I keep that box in the center, and then I just point it at the face I want, half-press, and recompose as needed to keep the camera’s eye-autofocus locked on to the person I want. I find that quicker/easier for controlling the focus, and I don’t have to jump back and forth between eye-auto on or off. Maybe that will be useful to you … been great for me so far.
I've watched way too many videos on the X100VI (as I'm waiting for mine to be shipped/delivered) and this is the most enjoyable, most informative and likeable. The photos you shared are wonderful! Also thank you for sharing two recipes - they look great and once I have my X100VI, I'll make sure to try them :) Thank you so much for this and always the best light for you and your camera!
I got mine a few days ago and I'm in love with it. I only shoot jpeg recipes and send resized photos to my phone for quick sharing to IG (10 mp files are more than enough). The only kind of video I shoot on it is slow motion on because I don't have to worry about bringing a mic since it doesn't record sound. I add music in post or during the upload process to social media. This camera packs way too many awesome features in such a tiny package. It's ridiculous. 🤣
I think my favorite thing about this review is that you thoroughly showed what the camera is capable of. Of course there are highs and lows, pros and cons, but what can it actually DO? Great images, and very inspiring. Can’t wait to play around with mine. (Just got it 11/9/24 after ordering 2/21/24!)
You deserve more like. Love your feedback. I've got mine day one and it's my favorite device ever (before it was my X100t ^^) I can do eveyrhing with this camera. Thanks for sharing your recipes and experience ;)
they're awesome cameras and i really want one. The issue is the availability. I dont have the energy to hunt one down at msrp lol. one day ill get one though. but that might be until another two more generations come out.
Interesting video - I have had several versions of the X100 series over the years. Assume you’re in the US so the supply chain must be different - I got a silver X100VI in March after waiting just 2 weeks since I preordered. Sold it for near retail price after 6 months and then regretted it. Just placed an order for another silver one 3 days ago and it arrived yesterday. Not sure if everyone wants black version or down to where in the world you are, but twice now in the UK I’ve had to wait virtually no time at all - waiting months is crazy madness 🤪
Wow! Yes I’m in the US and it sounds like it’s way different! Some people have commented on this video that they are still waiting on their preorder from February. Thanks for the tip! Head to the UK for fujis:)
Been traveling for about 6 months around Korea/Japan/Thailand and I've basically only used the X100VI. Got my X-S10 with me with a few lenses as well, but that has barely been used (3 times max).
Nice camera - I considered original X100 ~12 years ago, but got a smokin’ deal on a lightly used Sony RX1. Unless film simulations are important to you (I shoot RAW), I recommend finding an RX1 (no longer in production) - it’s head and shoulders better, smaller, but doesn’t look as cool.
Great video thank you. One question, yes i did read the manual.😊 At 15.51 you show film simulation screen in a ‘open’ view. How to get there or set it up? I use the Q button but then the whole screen is blocked with options.
Thanks! And you’re welcome. I set up one of the custom buttons as my custom recipes and one for the standard film simulations. I covered it in my X100VI settings video for step by step set up:) I highly recommend setting it up this way seeing a live view of your sims is really helpful!
I set the front button to turn the eye autofocus on/off so when I had the camera to my eye, if it’s struggling to find the face I want, I can switch it over to single point without taking the camera away from my face. Much quicker than the swipe up option.
It's funny. I've been thinking about one of these as a second camera for wedding Photography. I do have an XT5 which is my second camera to my GFX camera but at weddings as often breaks where you can just wander around with a small camera and use the On camera flash and just get some candid photo. This camera would be really good for that. Stick it in F4 and away you go. I think this would be a good camera for that style of stuff and just obviously for holidays and weekends.
It’s so good for what you’re describing! The flash does take time to recycle between shots but not that long:) the size and weight is an upside for sure!
FYI, not having a flip to the front screen for recording yourself has a simple solution. The phone app remote function is excellent, especially for video. It takes the Fuji X100Vi's video capabilities to the the next level. Also, The cameras Mic's are not of the best in audio quality and worse, the lens focus makes a sounds similar to someone is using a drill next to the camera while you are trying to record. At first I tried a shotgun mic on the camera but the lens noise made this audio set up equally unusable. My solution was simple, and solved all the problems I was having. I Used a hot shoe mounted phone mount so I could use my iPhone as a my removable forward facing screen, remote screen and camera remote shutter. The hot shoe mount I'm using is sturdy but light plastic and has cold shoes slots on either side of the actual phone clamp, I use two small but very bright light pods in the slots and then locate a DJI remote Mic receiver on the closest light pod to the jack on the camera. The lights also have cold shoe slots on the bodies, adding to the flexibility and scalability of the set up. In theory (I haven't tried it) you could even mount a 2 small remote flash units or one each instead of lights pods. Or you could add more light pods, they offer them in switchable colors if you want to get groovy. My little set up is compact light weight, inexpensive (if you already have a smart phone and a wireless mic set up) and works really good for self portraits or videos. Its also multi purpose because you can use it with just the camera, just the phone or all together. I use a 2.5mm to 3.5mm curly cable to go from camera to the DJI receiver. no more lens noise, and no more framing issues when capturing shots of myself... or my dog. Hope this helps someone. This camera is amazing, I recommend watching the @pal2tech videos on Fuji auto focus to unlock the potential of this camera. I own an X100T, X100V and now the X100Vi and have been using Fiji cameras since 2016 and @pal2tech still schooled me on the cameras function and set up. @Jesse DeYoung Thank thank for taking time to make this great video, its obvious you are one hell of an artist. cant wait to learn from you. New sub.
Don't you use an adapter with a UV filter to protect the lens? I really want to remove that because it makes the camera bigger and I wanted to buy it because of the smaller size. Don't you use a filter to protect it? How are you doing without using it?
Thanks! The base was definitely classic chrome but I think I edited the RAW file in Lightroom to get that look. I need to check my Lightroom to be sure though.
I just kept it how it came. No additional accessories. It makes it easier to store when I’m not using it. I know I’m sacrificing the ability to be weather and dust sealed but I’m ok with that :)
Loved the video. One question as I am also coming from canon is do you edit your photos or stick to the jpegs produced via recipes?. I've been trying too hard to just use recipes and not edit as that was my primary motivation to purchase this camera. But, so far I haven't been happy with what I am producing and thats adding to me not liking this camera or the fuji system.
@ I still have my pre-order with Adorama active but I’ve already got Ricoh griii and griiix and absolutely in love with them. Will definitely just sell/gift the x100vi whenever I finally get it lol I actually think I would have kept it if I got it in a reasonable time, but the ridiculous time waiting for it made me just fall out of love with fuji sadly.
I had the zf for a bit. Great camera, but I couldn’t get comfortable with the feel. Pretty heavy body and virtually no grip. Yeah you can add a grip, but then the camera gets even larger and heavier. Stylistically it compares to the x100vi, but realistically it’s a totally different category in my opinion. Not to mention native z mount lenses can be very expensive.
My X100VI milestone I have been on the waiting list for 7 months.
get a nikon ZF its just better :D

I have an extra new one (silver/black) $2300

I ordered my x100vi on February 27th and just received it 4 days ago.
I love that you included things on the flash! Great video, great job. Very informative 😊
people out here taking 10000 pictures before I even get mine. Ordered first day of preorder too
This is insane, I should have tried the best buy method.

Noticed no lens hood. What do you have on the lens ? Looks real neat and slim . Thanka

What about dust on the sensor ? Thanks. toronto canada.
Yes to a VERTICAL TILTING Screen
Thanks for watching!
Why are you shooting uncompressed raw? You could half the size going with compressed lossless and have the same amount of information
still can't get it, and the company is trying to release more models for what.
It’s still sold out now in October 24’

Had 2, sold them both. Nikon zf is a much better camera. No, it’s not as ‘small’ as the Fuji but fu?! Fuji for their supply issues.

Yes! Interchangeable lenses changes everything
Sorry Connelly, but I need a travel camera, not a zf
