I play for my high schools football team and I swear to god it felt like I was watching Friday nights lights like everything but nobody gives us respect at my high school like nobody see’s us as a threat then 2nd game into the season are star QB and star LB both got injured and out for the season one being a senior and are whole season was around that mind set and we went and won are first district title in 15 years and won county champs out of 4 schools and we were actually talked about so much around are area that everybody thought we were going to make it to State but we lost in are Regional championship ( 3rd round play off’s) by 1 point on double over time we haven’t won a regional championship since 1983 which was the last time we went to State and we haven’t been to region in almost 10 years

Saw this the other day - MY ALL AMERICAN a 2015 American biographical drama sport film based on the life of college football player Freddie Steinmark. Under coach Darrell Royal University of Texas (1957-1976), compiling a career college football record of 184-60-5. In his 20 seasons at Texas, Royal's teams won three national championships (1963, 1969, and 1970), 11 Southwest Conference titles, and amassed a record of 167-47-5. He won more games than any other coach in Texas Longhorns football history. Really worth a watch.

Agreed. I think it's overlooked because it was a Christian movie, but it is just as good a football movie than those shown. You have it all. The coach losing everything, nearly his job. Inspiration coming not only from the Christian faith, but the perseverence of the team. A great death crawl scene (so good, the VP of my job showed it at a meeting to demonstrate the value of working up to your potential), and a wonderful, dramatic ending when the defense builds a wall and an undersized kicker gets providential help from a windy day. This movie rates with Remember the Titans in many respects and actually better in many areas.

Don't let this distract you from the the fact that in 1966, Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, Bubba

I enjoyed The Replacements, but how that was on here over The Blindside, The Waterboy and Varsity Blues is ridiculous. I also personally thought that Any Given Sunday was very overrated. The Top 10 American Football movies in my opinion are.
    1. Friday Night Lights
    2. Remember The Titans
    3. Rudy
    4. Invincible
    5. The Express: The Erinie Davis Story
    6. The Waterboy
    7. Brian's Song
    8. The Blindside
    9. The Little Giants
    10. The Program.

I am from Virginia, about 3 hrs from Alexandria VA where remember the Titans is based off of. Virginia is that underrated state when it comes to almost all sports. People love to talk about Cali and Texas football and baseball, but the reality is in VA, football and baseball are ways of life for all of us. Some of the best coaches, players, teams, pro, high school, athletes, etc have been breed in our state. and just look up the 1995 1996 VA Hampton Crabbers (Ronald Curry vs mike vick, and everyone else)...

Little Giants was a schlock movie. Should not be on the list, as they pointed out, it was so bad nobody saw it and it lost money.
Top 5 are Brian's Song, Any Given Sunday, Rudy, Friday Night Lights & Remember the Titans.
Then add The Replacements for best "what if", The Program for best college, Longest yard for best anti-hero, Marshall for best tragedy, Waterboy for best funny, and Gridiron
    Gang for best alternative.

    • @henryjw15
      @henryjw15 5 лет назад

That's a weird saying of Rebels. Ha, I think they wanted to show the small time bs, Midland Vs Odessa. That's reason why midland high was Marshall in the film. I think the only schools they mentioned in the LSWC was Lee, and technically there have been more games played by Lee and Permian against each other than Odessa high vs Permian. And to mention rivals Odessa high rival was Midland high before Permian and Lee came to existence and then you bring in the rest of the district which stayed the same for fifty years till that stupid ten team district that Uil made, still not as bad as the Ozona and Anthony district in the nineties. But yeah the movie got some stuff wrong like the demographics to the look of the town and to mention the games. And if Permian would won against Carter it was given they would have lost to converse Judson since we're cursed.

I think When The Game Stands Tall should be on this list. For some people, they don’t understand the movie because they don’t understand what it’s like to win so much then lose. My high school coach lost one regular season game from 2004 to 2016 and won 33 straight at our school, then we lost the streak to our hated rival. The following year we went 6-4 and we missed the playoffs for the first time in 6 years and our coach missed the playoffs for the first time in 13 years. It’s tough fighting back from something as demoralizing as that.

You still did a good job despite my objections. You got a majority of the biggies including Little Giants. Great mention on that one. And the play up of Ed O’Neill as a former Heisman trophy winner isn’t as far off as you might think. He had a tryout with the Pittsburg Steelers in the mid 1960’s. He wasn’t great, but he was pretty good. Ed used his Ohio roots a lot in this movie. While there is no Urbainia in Ohio, we do have Urbana, maybe about an hour from where Ed graduated fromhigh school ( Worthington just north of Columbus.).
