Ah man, I've been trying so hard to get hip depth in my lead hip that I've been early extending. When I get it wrong I can feel it damaging my back. Focusing on getting hip depth in the trail hip has just made me be able to sit properly, consistently. This is the best channel.
Whenever I want to play golf with very little time to go to the range, i will either watch Milo or Elitegolfschool...I am delighted that both of you guys are in this valuable video. In my opinion, both of you guys almost have the same concept. All love from Singapore❤.
Great thoughts! Much like Dr. Kwon's description of the swing. It's one movement, not positions or parts. Create energy in the back swing and keep arms and shoulders relaxed. Lower body is the engine.
One of the best instructional videos ( I hate to admit that I've literally have watched thousands). Worked on this drill this afternoon - immediate results - more so than any other drill - period. Very similar to what Drew was teaching with Brendan & Dr Kwon. In so many words, Drew said that he feels like he only applies pressure to golf shaft first 1/3 to 1/2 of back-swing and that momentum carries it to the top. In so many words, also said an aggressive transition is a death move. Your team did a phenomenal job explaining this critical part of the golf swing. You're one of the very best golf instructors - what you teach and the way you teach works!
This is great. I’m in the midst of some great work through Milo’s online academy. Making some really good progress and excited about how the swing is progressing. Let’s keep it going 👍🏽
Unique perspective to focus on place that is usually just that, a place you try to achieve. Dynamics plus muscle usage and intention I have only seen bertholy teach, ie, the vertices drop ,buckle, sit, slide, bump. To me the order is necessary. Buckle, then sit, then slide hips, then bump to , into left post. This brings a good perspective and awareness. Your teaching is always practical, yet right. Forthright with honest work. Thanks a million! I meant vertical drop not vertices
This is a great lesson, Milo! I already tried it and recorded myself. Terrific result. I remember you teaching this in a couple of your lessons, but this gives it a new way to think about it. And I am finding it easier to incorporate. Thank you for reaching out to other great instructors and adding their wisdom to your teaching. "Education over Ego!" You rock!
Another prime example of a great swing thought to tackle early extension. I have struggled with this, though have made some progress. I still have to fight the habit of pulling the club down at the start of the downswing.
The tip that the "top" of the backswing is when you float, might be the exact feel I need to help get some flow. The thought of the "top" being when the hands are at the top might be too late for the float move? Going to try out that feel and get my video over to CoachNow! Thanks for this!
Love this one. Huge help as I try and solve my early extension. One question - as you sit into the right hip is there any lateral move or is it kind of a vertical sitting? Thx guys, love the videos 👍
Hi guys. I believe the honey hole of the trail hip dipping is a reaction of the golf swing not a deliberate action on the golfer part and is actually done by the trail shoulder and trail knee working at the same time on the downswing. Cheers
Interesting concept. I have always been taught to shift first, then turn. This is different where you sit, and then shift and turn at the same time. That actually makes more sense to me. Is that what I am seeing ?
The sit/fall/recenter/float allows us to re-square and sets up the rotation so long as the wrist conditions and COM match. We cover these points with monthly individual analysis on my website: milolinesgolf.com.
When you get more hip depth it also adds forward bend, more forward bend is a shaft steepener. Do you just leave the clubhead “float” and let gravity shallow it ? Thanks for the great content!
Can’t wait to try this out! I’ve been so focused on freezing at the “top”, that like you guys have mentioned its become very jerky to start the downswing again, which usually results in a steepening of a shaft instead of that shallow float and free fall
Hi guys. Do you have a video of this move face on? I'm working through the feels vs reals and a face on video would help with the chest rotation part. Thanks!!!
This matches exactly what I felt last weekend. Played shitty for 12 holes then trying to “hit” the ball then felt like i got super chill and was -1 for the last 6. Flew the 17th green by 1.5 clubs with what felt like the easiest swing ever. Was weird lol.
I am just getting back into the game after taking a couple years off from getting so frustrated. I really struggle with gripping the club tight at the top of the backswing/transition and coming over the top. I’m looking forward to giving this a try.
Awesome to hear you're back! If I or a member of my team can help in any way please do reach out or check out our online academy at milolinesgolf.com. Best of luck
Great concept and great video, Milo! I really like it. I love the idea of patience at the top of the swing (or in transition, as there is no top in your eyes). I love the idea of “floating” into the honey hole. My question to you is what do you think are the best drills you can implement that works on that floating move to get into the honey hole? Ate there one or two drills that can program the body to sit transition that allows the floating move? Thanks, as always, for sharing such great content. 👊👊
Yeah, this is the key bit of info that no one else has clarified. It's the trail hip that gets additional depth, not the lead hip, as it appears to be in all the slow mo videos. That's why people hit the ground when trying to emulate this move they see the pros making. They see that they need to get lower to start the downswing but they try to do it as they rotate to the lead side keeping them down for to long and causing the swing to bottom out behind the ball. Without someone telling you how to do this move correctly, it's virtually impossible to replicate with consistency.
Great video. This series is discussing all the things I am working on!! Just a question, how does this video relate to the side bend video (rotating around the spin correctly). Does the side bend come after the squat or during it? Thanks
Gary Woodland comes to mind. If you power the downswing with arms and hands I can imagine this swing feel would feel like a very late and delayed strike with the perception that your not hitting hard enough or swinging fast enough early enough.
Milo, right hip deep in down swing….. could that be a feeling similar to doing a good morning? More dynamic obviously but have you ever explains it as such?
I get the floating but and I get the sitting move on the way down. My concern is w hitting it fat, cuz that squatting move moves everything down x inches so wouldn’t that lead to a lot of fat shots??
Hey Paulie, great question and thought, I hear this a lot. You have to learn to align the wrist conditions and tension levels otherwise you will do just as you said or learn to stand up and out of the shot to compensate. Have you looked into joining my website? milolinesgolf.com
Do you like honey? 😅

This is probably the single greatest instruction videos I have seen on RUclips. 👏
Glad you enjoyed it Aaron!

That’s what golf is all about bringing these guys on your channel and giving them exposure Jack and Arnie style Milo👍
Not sure we are on Jack and Arnie’s level, haha, but thank you!
Energize. Float. Swingset analogy (as Toski and Love). Another excellent concise video Milo.
Appreciated!
Was never able to fix my early extension until watching this. Past two range sessions have been awesome. Thanks guys.
Awesome!

Thanks so much Alan
This is EXACTLY the video I needed as a long time handle puller. Put it into action and I haven't hit the ball this good in a LONG time. Thanks!
Great to hear!
How is it 9 months later?

Milo I like your swing analogy! Thanks for sharing the honey hole thought! 👍🇨🇦
Credit to Riley and Elite Golf Schools for the lingo! Many ways to word it now haha.
New subscriber, UK based, loving this lesson and the style of the video - big fan but lots to learn!!!!
Thanks for following along!
I like the term honey badger, because you load, chill, squeeze and that ball is coming out hot😊
👍
This first came in to recognition with the "Tiger Squat". When you do it properly it makes dropping the club in the slot automatic. Excellent video.
I’d say it came into recognition long before tiger 🐅. I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
Uh, give or take 500 years.
Another prime example of a great swing thought to tackle early extension. I have struggled with this, though have made some progress. I still have to fight the habit of pulling the club down at the start of the downswing.
Goes right in line with our Squeeze video Nick 👍, thanks for watching!
Feeling patient during the transition has been helping me get more of this.
Love it Nico!
Nice 1 Milo.....What a great way to build nice consistant tempo. Proper balance is maintained as well....Bravo Gents !
👏👏👏😊👍🇨🇦
Thanks J.P.!
Really good - the way your explaining the feel is great!!
👊
Love this. Thanks guys.
Our pleasure!

Thanks for watching Steven.

The pressure should have already moved or be in the process of moving back to the lead side, not so much a slide in my opinion, more a landing.
TJ swing/tempo is awesome
Agreed

Establishing trail hip depth, is the piece that is missing in my swing sometimes which takes it from a spin out to effective delivery! Thanks! Alan

Awesome! More of these guys!
More coming!
Great video! Where is the pressure in your feet slightly before/during/after the honey hole?
Hi guys. Do you have a video of this move face on? I'm working through the feels vs reals and a face on video would help with the chest rotation part. Thanks!!!

You got it Paul. Allow things to unravel
Awesome stuff!!! Thanks.
Thanks for watching John

Really super well explained stuff

If you’re a right handed player left bend happens in the back swing and right bend starts in the unweighting phase.
How does this differ from the George Gankas (GG) "Squat" move to start the downswing?
Your the best Milo 👌
Thanks!
Awesome so very helpful!
Thanks for watching!
Kinda like sitting down on the throne?? Back that tush up and then down to release the goods through the impact zone?
haha
Did we have to use "honey hole" ?
Rename highly advised.
Gary Woodland comes to mind.

Yes I have
Fantastic Fantastic
Thanks for watching Jan!
Loved it. 👍
Glad you liked it
Just like swing the handle? I like the way it looks.
@ 4:48…Float to Honey Hole, turn and shoot it out. That’s a 99.99 percent fix for me. Taking that out on the course!
Don’t know it’s a fix until you’ve tried it on the course 😊
Keep me posted 👍

Would be great if you could show the view down the line of the position of the honey hole
Noted, although I have numerous videos on here and my website covering this.
Interesting terminology
They got some fun lingo for the kids.
is this 'float loading'?
Is this basically the Magic move that Harvey Penick talked about?
On behalf of every Australian thank you for another definition of "Honey Hole."
Hahaha, I think they have since changed their way of defining it.
couldn't see the sit move from the top

How about in this one
Honey hole has a different meaning in the uk !
🤣
We all know what the honey hole is....but let's make it a golf term....lol..
I'm not even going to comment on the title of the tip! !
When your looking down, where are your eyes focused.....
Good question and I don’t focus on anything in particular
Sounds like hippies explaining the golf swing. Good stuff but hoping it's not a cult😂
Ha, you should check out our other videos to get a better sense.
There was no squat in the guy's swing.
There doesn’t need to be much lowering, but for many an exaggeration can be a useful practice.
Language like P5 has to be the biggest idiotic term in golf. Sorry guys, it just is and not relatable whatsoever.
They are just positions we coaches refer to. We typically also say shaft parallel or arm parallel as well for viewers to better understand.
