Not afraid of hearing another opinion of islam but fed of being bashed. No other faith is subjgated to the level of bashing muslims get because of racial motivation and Islamaphobia
I don't agree with that. Muslims generally are the only ones who have lack of tolerance and have not integrated well. They try to stand out from the crowd on purpose which is unhelpful. Also the scripture does speak about killing people. So how else do you expect other people to react?

Anti Muslim bigotry and Islamaphobia has become a huge industry, people are so low that they are making money of the backs of law abiding practicing Muslims who have not done anything and things like these leads to attacks on Muslims and you wonder why Muslims have to be defensive and stick together as community because we have had to put up with these for decades. I think Lubna is not understanding that side of things, how would she feel if one of her loved ones got attacked or abused for being Muslim, because ex Muslim and racist bigots will pick on every Muslims they’re all game as far as they’re concerned and they don’t hide it. Lubna your reply is giving an excuse for bigots to attack Muslims. Please show evidence where the majority of Muslims are doing what you are saying to deserve that level of hatred please provide it. Also where in the Quran it says you just go out and kill someone willy nilly, the Quran gives contexts in fighting in self defence in a war so please provide evidence of what you are saying.
You should get used to it but I can imagine that it is quite difficulet for a religion that uses to kill its critics. By the way the most devastating "bashing" will come from theological, linguist and archeological research. Just a little reminder from a person your religion calls the "woerst of creatures".

Because the stock narrative is how in the world can leave the light of Islam and choose darkness. To maintain this falsehood that Islam is the truth, they have two responses. First response is if you live in an Islamic country that is run under the sharia law, e.g Afghanistan, you are given three days to reconsider your decision to leave Islam, at the of that period if you stick with your decision, you are simply beheaded. For countries not under the sharia law, e.g Pakistan, the mob will lynch you. If you live in the west, they have no other way out to maintain that Islam is the eternal truth except by declaring that you were never a Muslim to begin with. This is their mindset.

Whether you believe in the Christian bible or not, the New Testament describes forgiveness through Jesus and provides and message of hope. The idea that God loves his creation and the path to God is through love is the best message. In the physical world there is violence and sin but in your heart you must try and hold love. We are not perfect and absolute love will never be achieved. But the message is that you should try. That is the best message in the New Testament. Jesus forgives the people that condemned him.

You and your guest (Mimzy) highlighted 2 points of interest....[1] Morals and [2] Predestination.
You used "r@pe" as your example when explaining your moral views to your guest, and indicated that bad deeds needs some form of punishment (and I agree). I disagree with your guest's views, that moral actions are based on "genetics, i.e. family/life related genetic conditions which determine a persons moral behaviour". All sane people know what is morally right or wrong, so we can't use genetics as an excuse for what immoral people do.
I agree, immoral actions can't go unpunished, yet all Muslims ignore this when it comes to what their religious literature say about their prophet's immoral life. Yet many of his actions fit's into the category of immoral acts, which includes "r@pe" e.g. [Ṣafiyya bint Ḥuyayy was a Jewish woman from the Banu Nadir tribe. After the Battle of Khaybar in 628, she was widowed and that same day Mohammad r@ped her (what woman suffering loss of her family that day would accept intimacy with her captor hours after being captured?)].
What about adultery e.g. [Surah 33:37-38]. Islamic literature nowhere shows were the prophet was ever punished for these types of crimes, yet he is clearly rewarded for his immorality as shown in 33:37-38 (would the true creator of the universe really reward any of his creation's immoral behaviour and also implicate himself in his creations immoral acts as Allah does?).
The second point was "predestination", it and free-will are the complete opposites. Either human life has been predestined or there is free-will, it can't be both. The Quran is clear in many verses that mankind's lives are predestined by Allah and that humans don't have the free-will (choices) to do anything other than what Allah has predestined for each human-being [Sahih Muslim 2658a, Sahih Muslim, Book 037, Number 6620].
This creates real problems for humans committing immoral acts, since it suggest Allah predestined these acts, e.g. [Surah 7:186, 7:178, 16:93, 74:31]. Yet Allah will still punish those he predestined with those immoral actions....if Allah is holy, perfect and a just God, then these attributes are contradictory since Allah himself guides some human-being to immoral acts. So the question that needs to be answered is, is Allah truly God if his teaching is contradictory to that taught by the other two Abrahamic faiths?.
It's points like these above that has many becoming ex-Muslims, because these issues are overlooked in Islam. This is contrary to the other two Abrahamic faiths, where immoral actions demand punishment irrespective of the person that is identified in these actions, and free-will is taught by God who does not decide human choices in life. While he can clearly foresee man's future he does not dictate their actions, these actions (good or bad) are solely theirs. Which means that the final punishment/judgement is justified against those humans who persist in immoral actions, since these are in violation of God's laws & teachings - it would be an injustice for a truthful, loving, perfect and holy God to allow sin to go unpunished.
Here is the Islamic problem, Muslims use their faith as a measure for the existence & morality of (God and his prophets) and when they can't reconcile with it's immoral teachings they become ex-Muslims with many rejecting God on these basis and they assume the other two Abrahamic faiths are similar due to Islam's claims that it is also an Abrahamic faith (which it is clearly not, since it follows none of the teachings/practices of either of these two faiths (again, it claims to do this but never does))....Mohammad claimed that his god was the Abrahamic God, but there is no proof for this, since Allah constantly contradicts the Abrahamic God's teachings - below is just one such comparison.
⦁ In Surah 33:37-38, Allah condones and rewards Mohammad's sin, (i.e. remember his lust for his stepson's wife)....who but Satan would condone sin?
Below is what the true Abrahamic God said nearly 2000 years before Islam, in response to man's sexual desires for "other" women:
⦁ [Leviticus 18:15]; “Do not have sexual relations with your daughter-in-law. She is your son’s wife; do not have relations with her.”
⦁ [Exodus 20:17]; “Thou shall not covet (i.e....envy, lust after) thy neighbour's wife.” (Everyone is your neighbour so that means anyone else's wife is forbidden).
In total violation of the divine commandments stated above in both the other two Abrahamic faiths, Allah condoned Mohammad's immorality....If guiding mankind into sin is the work of God then Satan is jobless since Allah condones and demands more sin than Satan does in Islam.
Islam claims to be an Abrahamic faith, yet contradicts God's "moral" laws taught by the other two faiths, then accuses these faith's differences as corruption.
Consider taking Harris Sultan, it wd be interesting

I watched a documentary on Jewish arranged marriages and one guy was very strict and he couldn’t find a wife.

I would call the moderate muslims Western muslims. They are highly influenced by the Christian West and have romanticed Islam.

I think you’re still stuck with bubble of Islam somehow. It’s either you accept Islam for what it is or reject it for what it is, currently you’re in such a paradoxical position and I hope you get brave enough to accept the reality in front of you.
Appealing to the Quran in my opinion doesn’t erase the apparent problem bcos the Quran itself is very contradictory, full of plagiarisms, errors hate and violence. I will advise that you get this book titled “the original sources of the Quran” by Claire Tisdall.

It is great to hear Mimzy who, from her comments, is clearly an agnostic and very comfortable with that position. Whatever religion one is taught as a child, it is perfectly reasonable to change one's beliefs as one matures and starts to think for oneself. Some people remain firm believers in a higher being, whether called God, Allah, Yarweh, Zeus, others, the atheists, firmly reject that possibility, while a third group, agnostics, take a more ambiguous perspective and, arguably, more realistic stance. While many religions once took a hard line against those that abandoned their beliefs, punishing or even killing apostates, this behaviour is entirely wrong in these more enlightened times. Fundamentalist followers who still advocate such action are rightly feared and condemned by society at large.

Yes I think “the enlightenment” was a European thing initially and then spread to the western nations. I think many of our younger generations don’t even know about this important development in history anymore and so I would guess that immigrant families might know even less of this period. Perhaps this is why western views of religion tended to have evolved with the times to include democracy, equality snd secularism, but Islam has not…?
Democracy is all about offending people... If you don't challenge established views, you'll never offend anyone and therefore never change anything for the better...

The REASONABLE way to go would be to explain why you think that’s not a good book - if you’ve read it. Humans need something to believe in. When I left religion, I took on the Nicomachean Ethics. I still see utility in religion for most people, I just found what I was looking for elsewhere.

@@Lubna.Candid When I left religion, I struggled with the meaning of life. So, I pursued everything in excess and was very fortunate. I thought I would be more fulfilled, but I never felt more empty. If you read the book of Ecclesiastes in the Bible, that was my state of mind. Eventually, I came to the conclusion that the meaning of life for humans was the same as every other animal -- reproduction. It's an unsatisfying conclusion for humans who appear to inherently strive for perfection and the consequences of their individual existence. I took this and chose to make the meaning of my life becoming a virtuous man and passing down those virtues to my children. In a way, I became more like a religious man in the end, but I don't have to justify things I'm uncomfortable with and can adjust my position if I'm wrong about something.

What always gets me is the direct contradiction of verses 5.32 and 5.33 in the quran. The first says killing one human is like killing the whole of humanity. Whereas, the very next verse says you must chop off peoples hands and feet from oposite ends and kill people by crucifixion for spreading corruption in the land.
How is this the commands of an all loving god?
Allah replaces ex-Muslims with new Muslims in Qur'an 5:54. So there is no loss in Islam, only gains. No one can stop Islam as Pee Research saying 3 billion Muslims by 2060. It will be the largest religion on Earth. Just as God promised in Qur’an 61:8-9. God doesn’t need you, he just replaces you weak faithed women with new Muslim women.

If they are as you say, they should follow religion. God said in the Qur'an, His Surah33:72. We offered the Trust to the heavens and the earth and the mountains. But they refused to undertake it, and were apprehensive of it. Yet the human being undertook it. He has always been unfair and ignorant. 73. So that Allah may punish the hypocrite men and the hypocrite women and the men and the women who associate others with Him and that Allah may accept repentance from the [it was] believing men and believing woman. First of all, take care of your mental health. This is the number one priority imho.
Going from religious to less religious does sometimes look like grief for some people. It is like letting go of something you held onto for years.
Some people become agnostic, meaning they don't know if there is any deity, but they are pretty sure no deity has written any of the scriptures. Being less religious doesn't have to mean not celebrating the holidays (or not inventing or celebrating other holidays).
As to your question of "what frightens Islamist when they hear people's doubts", I think part of it is that they don't believe in it fully and part of it is that there are 1.2 billion Muslims on paper only. Iran has a huge population of people who I think are counted as Muslims, even though they are not. In many other parts I guess many people would leave en masse if not for the apostasy laws... And that makes them scared (as in the trend might be that despite a high birthrate their numbers could go down) and since they think that non religious people are immoral that makes them afraid that they will be surrounded by immoral people (which is pretty frightening)...

You don't need to be an "scholar" of any religion to determine if a ideology is based on a bad idea. Any body with a functioning brain is able to live their life based on personal conviction. No religion need it.
And if you're incapable to discern between right and wrong as an adult, then you have no one to blame but the people who raised you and who failed you miserably.
There are different interpretations of the scripture - the scholars I follow present a peaceful non violent view

Mimzy rattled of a lot of stuff about the Quran it would have been useful if she backed it up with some references so that it could be checked up on to see if it’s true because I haven’t come across such things. She did say also in her opinion that’s how she took the wording so it could also be that she misrepresented the wording of the Quran and added her own take on it but references would have been helpful. Some of the Muslims that come onto your comments are concerned about the levels of anti Muslim and Islamaphobic hate speeches directed at the whole entire Muslim community and Islam and they have every right to be concerned due to potential attacks, they’re also concerned that you are liking their comments whilst they get away with their bias and bigotry which is not on. You said Islam doesn’t allow you to ask questions but that not true because many reverts (Muslims not born in a Muslim family) who have come into Islam asked many critical questions first and after years of research and questioning they joined Islam you can go on RUclips and see for yourself so it’s a big lie to say you can’t question the religion and reverts can testify to that.
You can have a look at Dr Zakir Naik who is a Muslim Scholar get asked many critical questions about the Hadith and Quran and many have reverted to Islam after so it whilst disingenuous to say you can’t ask critical questions on Islam but what Muslims are concerned about is the hate speech and constant bashing of a whole community by radical fanatical ex Muslims and racists. I hope you also condemn their behaviours rather than let them get away with it. Again I would advice you speak to knowledgable imams and scholars to help with any of your confusions. At the end of the day if anyone decides to leave Islam, no worries Islam and Muslims will still carry on growing.

Do you know that statistically 50% of what you call reverts leave islam in the first five years of embracing it? Probably due to all questions they are allowed to ask unlike the born into it ones.
