- Farming Insider goes in-depth into the process of making hay! 46 years of farming forages and this is the VERY first time our farm dove into the task of making silage bales! We had a nice patch of thick grass ready to go and only a small weather window. We took advantage of what we could and made 1700lb silage bales. Check out the oddly satisfying clips of modern hay equipment running back and forth!

What kinda of baleage wrap do you use sunfilm etc? And where do you order it from ??
What position in the baler is the granular preservative applied.

How on earth can you pay for all that equipment selling hay etc. How many bales of hay or other crops do you have to sell to pay for all that stuff. Stressful.

For us, hay pencils better than any other crop we can put into mass production. It does require lots of volume though.
i thought silage was wrapped in black not white.
In our region silage is usually white. Where are you at?
