    Am I the only one who thinks 2020 is a dumb name for the rifle? That was a terrible year.

    I like the original stock design, but they are not for everybody. Good for springfield for continuing to develop their product line.

    It is strange that it still weighs 7 pounds with carbon stock and barrel. My Tikka roughtech with no carbon weighs 7lbs.

    • @ddgslegs4516
      @ddgslegs4516 Месяц назад

      The point of a carbon barrel is not to be lighter than typical lightweight steel hunting barrels. The purpose of a carbon barrel is to provide all the benefits of a heavy contour barrel while not being as heavy as said heavy steel barrels. Thats why for example your tikka with a thin hunting profile STEEL barrel will weigh about the same as a tikka with a heavy contour CARBON barrel.

    The extractor on these is a sliding gate extractor certainly not a Sako style or an M16 style which are also two totally different extractor types...I do like the rifle but the deal breaker for me is the qd cups, I do a lot of hiking when i hunt and i like to carry my rifle in a more traditional over the shoulder carry which would make qd swivel studs mounted in the traditional spots a much better option for me

    • @krullux2042
      @krullux2042 Месяц назад

      ive been wondering about that as well with the qd flush cup fad. They are almost always on the side due to how they have to mounted into interior aluminum plate. You of course can carry the rifle on your shoulder with it being sideways but it would always have to be on left side of the rifle (for a right handed gun) to keep the bolt from jabbing you in the back. But then if its sideways, how is it going to ride when you also have a backpack on (like most of us hunting in the rocky mountains)?? I worry that the scope will get snagged on your backpack or the pack will constantly be trying to push it off your shoulder. Maybe if there are cups on both sides you could get a sling that hooks to both sides? I would have to try it out first

    I have been shooting 20 to 30 shot groups and have been a little frustrated with the accuracy. I decided to shoot quite a few 3 shot groups to see if it really did live up to the guarantee. I ended up shooting 16 different groups. Some factory and some handloads. Only two of those groups were over 3/4”. A .895” and a 1.006” were my two worst. Anyway that’s pretty solid.

    My biggest issue with the rifle is that the bolt doesn’t lock closed with the safety on. For a USD 2,600 rifle, I expect that feature.

  • @Matt-lt8xg

    So it’s just a regular floor plate? I was thinking it was like the browning a bolts which had a detachable mag that clipped into the floor plate, which in my opinion is the best design ever.
