Fishing With a SODA CAN Instead of a Reel? Survival Fishing Method!
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 5 окт 2024
- Today I am fishing with a soda can instead of a fishing reel. This is a survival fishing method for casting without a rod and reel. By spooling line on to a can, I am able to make short casts simply by throwing my float rig out there. The line comes off the can like a reel, only there is no rod. While its not the easiest method to catch fish, I am able to make it work. I catch a fish (sunfish), which was my goal. If this were a matter of survival, I would be happy with anything. Have you ever tried fishing with a soda can instead of a rod and reel? If you wanted to survive, you might need to. #realistic #fishing

i'm from Bulgaria and i fished like this for a couple of years, until the Soviet Union fell apart and fishing tackle became more accessible. Not float though, we always fished on the bottom for carp. We would put two sticks in front of the can and run the line through them and put another stick hanging on the line, and we would watch them. Yeah, i sure do appreciate having Japanese tackle now. I have suffered my way to it.
It works, but its a total pain 😄
That's a cool story, thanks for sharing
Doesn't get more realistic than that 👍
Of all the things you have done from fishing with amputated craws to lures that were found at the lake... This is right up there in the top 5!
It works if you are desperate 👍
Wow! That looked like a real struggle. Glad you caught one. That’s realistic fishing. Thanks Alex
That’s definitely what I call Realistic fishing. Way to go Alex you made do. Thanks for the video n
Thank you for showing the real scenarios. So many others cut to the successes because they don't want to show their failures and mistakes. The truth shouldn't be hidden but embraced so people truly understand the challenges and what they can expect. As always, keeping it realistic for the win.
Now thats determination. Glad you won't starve.
You channeled your inner Macgyver on this one. Great way to challenge your skills and overcome not having your gear. KIR
Can't keep it anymore realistic than that my friend!!!!! 👍❤️
This is why I love this channel.
This is right up my alley, HAND LINE FISHING!
Like many other fellow anglers that have mentioned it in the comments, I started out like this way back fishing for anything, just for the fun of it, thanks for bringing back the memories.
The most realistic fishing video I’ve seen. Great video! Keep it Realistic!
My first fishing rig was a budwiser can, string, weight and a hook. I remember my dad and uncles teaching me how to swing that line and cast it out. I was probably like 5 or 6yrs old.., so back in like 1988 or 89....thanks for sharing.
Most down to earth video I have seen in a long time. As a kid, I had a similar experience, except that I used an empty spool, some line, sinker and a hook, and fished some rock pools at the beach. Caught a few fish too. As your RUclips site says, keep it realistic 👍👍
Very interesting Alex. As you mentioned some people show these alternatives to traditional fishing and they make it look easy and simple. Really appreciate you showing the realistic side of unconventional fishing methods. Thank you and always Keep It Realistic.
Way to turn a situation around! A little ingenuity goes a long way
Can fishing, cane pole fishing, pool noodle fishing.......its all good!
Man this video takes me back, scraping anything I could together so me and my cousins could fish our local river. Started out with cans, and then to beer bottles. And onto poles afterwards. Good times. I still bottle fish about once a year for nostalgia sake. Even though I got more rods and reels and lures now than any man should ever need. Haha
Thanks for keeping it realistic Alex! You are right most of survival shows would have been screwed if all those happen to them but way to keep your calm and go with the flow!
I love realistic fishing. It's real to try and fish with line and a rockstar can. Thanks for showing the struggles. KiR!!!
Man that was freaking awesome! And very realistic! So thanks for keeping it realistic!!
"Hey now, you're a Rockstar... get the show on... get paid." 🎤🎣💪
Such a cool and truly old school realistic video Alex!! I've never personally seen this type of fishing done, till now. I thoroughly enjoyed this video and you caught a sunfish to boot!!! Thank Alex for always keeping it realistic 😊
You are truly the most Realistic man on the planet 👏❤
A very realistic video Alex! Thanks for sharing this. Enjoyed watching my friend! Keep up the good work!
Classic old school right there! KIR!!
Now this is Realistic Fishing! Realistic needs that Rockstar Energy Drink Sponsorship! 🎉
🔥
Hi I’m from Long Island and use to fish like this from the beach. Once hooked a fish ran up the beach to bring in the fish.
I've heard about this but never seen it in action. Good job Alex!
Thanks for showing the reality of your hypothetical survival situation… the quest for protein…lol… love the content, keep it realistic!
Thanks so much for making a video like this I've been waiting patiently and the moment finally came. And remember keep it......Realistic
Such a cool and informative video 📹 Alex!!!! I appreciate this one for sure! Those Longear Sunfish are super aggressive little fellows
Man!!!! Thats exactly how I fished my whole childhood. I didn't own a rod and reel until I was 16 and could afford my own. A zebco 33 that I bought at GoodWill for 5 bucks🤣
I bet it was a lot easier after that 👍
Love the can fishing and nice catch! I actually forwarded this vid to my childhood buddies. We had so many makeshift fishing equipment and baits as kids. Very Realistic!
I learned about it watching guys use it in the 1980s
Hello realistic fishing 🎣 I remember when my dad rest in peace hot a soda can and added fishing line and a sparkplug as a fishing weight and a old book to catch mackerel fish when I was a kid ever since I enjoyed Pier fishing 🎣 and I enjoyed going fishing 🎣 Pier fishing is very special to me
Awesome video! Never would've thought to use a can. Very cool 😎
You are the man,, fishing cheap catching fish,, from the bank ,,
Super cheap this time!
Howdy Alex and rockstar sunfish. Super great resourcefulness and video Alex, had me yelling at my little brother to scoot over. In memory from along time ago. Thank you thank you Buddy. Keep it Realistic
Works great with a bobber. So much fun.
That was incredible. Funny as hell and it CERTAINLY doesn’t get more realistic than that. Great great video. Keep it realistic
I never fished that way before, I have fished with a stick, line and hook technique awesome video Alex and always keep it realistic
If there is a will there is a way. And if you don’t have a can you can always break you off a stick. Great video Alex.
I might try that next to see which is easier
As always pure entertainment. Realistic for sure. Lol
I built some with my boys using a $1 garlic container from Wal-Mart. We keep them in the car for emergency fishing. With my youngest that is everyday 😂.
In Venezuela we have fishing pole and everything like here, but the most traditional fishermen use hand reel instead. 👍
Can fishing is hard, that's why I typically resort to using those for catfishing cause at least the line and good and you can throw a little better. 👍
You do what you gotta do sometimes 😂 I just had to make myself a bait rod with a stick line and sinker and hook to catch bait because I forgot my fishing rod as well 😂 great video my friend 🙏😎
My Absolute favorite Channel Keeping It Real
Dude you should do more videos like this.
Very cool production here!
Now that’s realistic!
Good video Alex, survival skills are important 👌
whoa, i did NOT expect a Realistic Survival Fishing episode! You still managed to land one, so hats off!
More of a desperate fishing rig video. I will survive
Good grinding for that sunfish brother lol. Been a long time since reeling with a coke can lol. I remeber those days though, cans, canes, whatever we could tie a line to. Now you should totally try that old cliche of catfishing with the line tied to your big toe while you nap lol. Thanks for the blast to the past with an old times fishing method. Keeping it realistic as ever!!! Much love!!
Oh wow! My first fishing rod was a soda can when I was 9 years old!
😎
Sup Alex, loved it, I have done many years ago, got some bluegills, we ate them, had hangups had to go in to get it, tied a few hooks on at night and tied to log, had bluegills and catfish in morning, we were camping and tree down, couldn't leave, had some food but didn't know how long it would be, was 2 days before town made it to clear road, people should know this👍, tyvm tc 🎣
I have a 24 ounce Modelo can …
It has held up and I highly recommend it 😂🍻
Great job on the survival rig! Good to know if your ever in need. Tight Lines!!
Pretty interesting, I would have never thought if a can.
This is awesome! Brings back memories of childhood and being inventive. Love it! Keep at it!
🥉
Very cool video! Proving it can be done. Nice work out there Alex!
Glad to see that you caught one. Thanks for keeping it realistic, but I would have gone home and retrieved my stuff LOL.
Very good challenge I loved it
That looked like a rough afternoon of fishing.
when I was young I lived in Puerto Rico and can fishing was a big deal. everyone seemed to do it.
Keepin it Rockstar !!! 😀
Cool video; nice change of pace. Interesting rig. Waiting for someone to troll you on how much noise the reel makes.
I need to oil my pop can!
I've never tried it with a can, but I did try a glass pop bottle once. It was easier to cast it with the tapered top on the bottle. Enjoyed the content, thanks.
We may see a lot of this with all the new residents!
What an adventure! Now THAT was realistic!
Awesome 😂 I haven't seen this done since the early 80s when I was a kid. Fish on 👍🏻🎣
Thats when I saw people doing it too! 👍
Great video, I did the same thing in Kuwait, salt water, it works
It did work!
Sweet cool technique! Thanks for KIR!
When you first started I thought you were gonna float fish with the can . I have fished with a tree branch, line and hook. Generic cane pole 😂 I wish there was a generic gulp minnow. I just ordered two more jars . Gone through 5 jars or more this season. Great video as usual!
Maybe I can signal for help...😂....You Rock!
😂
This is neat.
Cool video! Little different than the normal but mixing it up is fun
That and a six pack of brew…yumm!
Beer cans would work too! 🍺
Love it , now thats realistic
Now thats realistic 🤙
👍
When I was a kid, we took sticks and tied the line to the end and fished
This is awesome!
👍
Cane pole episode next
That's a great idea. Beats the other clowns survival fishing cookie cutter videos. Glad you were able to catch one.
Back in the days when we were kids and fished every ditch creek or pond just for bites….
Thanks for the entertaining video 😂
Thanks for watching 👍
My pleasure.
The amount of line I have to cut up and gather every single time I'm on the river is insane.
Worst part is, for some reason people are throwing 80lb braid for little smallmouth.
Don't let my mom see this video though. I can hear her through the phone already. "SEE? I TOLD YOU THAT YOU DON'T NEED ALL THAT GEAR. ALL WE HAD WAS A STICK AND SOME FISHING LINE!"
😅
I've handlined a few fish never used a bottle I don't think but maybe
Interesting. Good survival video. And it works. But. This was not my kind of fishing video. You sure do keep it Realistic. Good job. Thanks
Keep it realistic..first comment
🏆 Champ!
I started playing my first fishing video game, call of the wild. It's not bad but I feel like it's a little unrealistic. I'm snapping line on little .5 lb fish..😑
Surviving ain't easy!
That wasn't realistic, it was REAL! 😅
that was dope
IL take the baits nobody wants..keep it realistic from Whitwell, TN
RC Cola cans work too.
I have seen people use glass bottles.
Rock star
Ha I could of used this a few times at the in-laws...
Don’t forget to use the gills and guts to catch more fish
