I love my plott. She come from a breeder out west. She wasn't a great hunter but she's a great companion. I've had her for 9 years now. Through loyalty she wants to hunt now. Such a fearless dog to. I've seen her do things I didn't know dogs could do like run up a tree or run up the side of a truck going 30mph. I called th Jackie Chan of dogs when she was younger. Nothing out there like a plott. She's a good deer tracker and has taken a fancy to treeing squirrels.
That was awesome advice. I was fortunate to read “the locating treedog” by Obe Corey back in the 70’s when I was starting. I already had a couple local dogs, but Obe gave the same advice so I dug in and spent months studying and drove to Missouri and bought the best bred pup I could find even though I couldn’t really afford it. That dog paid for itself many times over and actually made a noticeable difference in the bear dogs of the Northwest. Great advice! You could save someone a ton of money in the long run.
Not a bear,Cat,Hunter, But I live in central florida,And Those plot hounds are awesome as a cold nose, trail, bay, Long legged, run for hours, Excellent with the warmer weather,Top Notch for hog hunting,I myself use BMC Cur dog's, Gritty, Love the videos, keep em coming, Good luck this year hunting, Good luck Brother's..
I knew people that had , bay, trailing, and catch dogs for hogs, all different breeds, almost always pits for catching and pointer/hound mixes and curs for baying and trailing. Once they got Plotts they did it all! The plott could do all the jobs, of course some do certain jobs better but they didn't need a big pack of dogs and a catch being held back on a leash while they got where they were bayed up. They are amazing smart fearless dogs
@@houndhuntingbearandbobcatw4705 Awesome Brother, What Breed of Plots,What breeder in your opinion,Has The best plot Bloodline for Hogs? I live in Central Florida.
Sir iv got a plott that is a rescue he looks so much like your pups they are awesome looking dogs my boy is pushing 75 pounds now big boy Leroy we call him haha going to watch a few more of your videos now
Those are some beautiful Plott females built like they supposed to be! I have a young Camo Jug bred Leopard hound 4 months old my first ever of the breed! His damn is out of a male that comes from Bobcat and Lion stock!
my friend is having puppies. catahoula leopard/lab mix. the mom is purebred catahoula and the dad is pure lab. im hoping to use it for duck hunting but i have a lot to learn about catahoula breed since i just found out about the breed. only thing i know is they were used for hog hunting. not sure how the dog will perform with waterfowl but shall see
Good looking Plotts, I especially like the first one. We run a few Plotts out here too. Keep the vids coming, I subscribed can't wait to see your next video.
This is a series of questions to better understand the training! Do you train all the dogs to run everything or certain dogs get different amounts of training and tracking? In other words if ranger is your lead bear dog you let him pick up the track and then pack the others is it the same way with bobcat or do you use Sally for tracking a cat and pack the rest to her?
I miss and match. I want them to all be top hounds. Each one gets a chance to perform alone and in company. Sally ranger piper all can do it all. However I use only Ranger to blood trail wounded game.
@@houndhuntingbearandbobcatw4705 thank you I asked only because most people I know pick one game species to train a dog on however your hounds are very versatile and we'll rounded
I live in East Tennessee getting ready to buy a couple 3 month old plot pups. I’m going to be training them on bear hunting what’s the best way to get them started. I use to coon hunt and just want to get on some big game. Can you give me some advise
I start all my pups on rabbits first. Then squirrels. After that a coon or two. After they are old enough then bear or bobcats depending upon the season.
Plus these dogs are big babies and will be your best friend for life. You can see that in the video. I call my 13 year old Miss Crazy. She is way slowed down now at 13 years old. She did an 8 mile hike with us a couple of weeks ago though. She still wants to be out there.
I had big Male Plott who was a great tracker but once he got to the end he would stop. He used grab rabbits show them to me and then put back where he got them. I think he if ever ran into bear he would have gotten stepped on.
I owned lots of dogs....got wise.I agree with well bred dogs. I actually haven't seen a dog from this line but agree. Nice looking Plotts, could you post a 7 Gen pedigree? Nice hounds and like that white patch, many saddle backs as well?
@@houndhuntingbearandbobcatw4705 if they were dropped years ago you still know the breeding? Honestly I'd like to know, there good looking dogs.Good job and thanks again.
Jeremy Drozda The answer here in Maine and other northern states is an easy one. It’s a good question. We hunt cats in the winter. The bears are in hibernation. It is possible for the dogs to make a mistake in the fall however it rarely happens.
Still mad at myself for cutting Hero's balls off. But I adopted him and I don't hunt and he was too aggressive...still is. Very assertive. Smart. he can tree naturally. Scent tracking is decent. I feel bad I didn't let him go somewhere else when I adopted him.
I am looking for a new bear hound I will hunt Brown bear and Wild boar whit it. Do you now off any that selling to Sweden. My is to old now and its hear last year now
See your Plotts actually look like hounds! I'm seeing so many "Plott hounds" that don't look hound at all, they have Plott colors but they are built more like curs, have lab ears and boxy snouts. Have you seen this on RUclips and the Internet? Some of these look more like bird dogs and retrievers than a hound . I love your dogs
Anybody ever want some good hound reading and advice,I'd advise you to read"walk with wick"written by john wick.Great reading.Just stumbled on this channel.Up here in northeastern ontario.Take care.
That won’t happen. Once they start in cats they will not bother a rabbit. It only happened to me two or three times in 50 years. What will mess up your cat hunt is a hound that can’t handle a track. I’m just saying.
Agreed, I had a tiny red tick who in her youth was about 55 pounds and was the leader. She would give an unruly dog the evil eye and they would fall into line.
Yes sir good looking hounds 👍
Thank you
Your channel is underrated. You deserve more subscribers. I’m getting pumped watching your videos.
Not many people think dead bears and bobcats are thrilling.
Most people after all have conscience.
Thank you

Glad to hear. She sounds like a fine hound.
Totally agree. Ours came from top blood lines and never lets us down.
I have an American Leopard Hound out of Arkansas and she’s fabulous. I also have an American foxhound but he’s retired. A plott is gonna be our next!!

Billy Powell Thank you. Should make you a great hound.
Would a Plott Hound be a good companion dog instead of using for hunting, as long as one gave the dog plenty of yard space and exercise?
Tinyfată Oh yes! Especially if you could adopt a retired hound. They make great companions.

Absolutely, yes sir!
How do you teach dogs to hunt multiple species of game, because if they're running cat when they should be on bear, how do tell what there on

Do these dogs bite the animal or just tree it?
