Ep. #1 Cat and Bear Hound Puppy Training: Introduction to the New Pups

There will be a series of videos documenting how Sam Natole takes his pups from 8 weeks old to finished cat hounds. In this first video we introduce you to Jiggers and Carle, two hound pups from the finest bloodlines that are out there. Ranger who is a Coles National Cat Hounds and Maggie who we will learn more about in the next video.
Sam Natole is a Registered Maine Guide and has spent most of his life in the Maine woods hunting bobcat and black bear. Sam, this is one of your better videos. I not only enjoyed it but it showed a lot of the reality of puppy training. Success is not instant, it built one session at a time. Please continue with these videos as you work with these pups. Show the good and the bad and how you overcome problems as they occur. Keep up the good work. John

I have a plot hound bear dog in training now . Have a walker hound now he is a well known dog in tn . But i got him done trained .. now i am getting this plot going got some sent today to drag and see how that goes

2 days ago I picked up a 9 week old plott male named him bocephus. Yes he will be a bear hound here in eastern nc but I sure am glad to find some useful videos on how to help train him and how to handle him in the off season this is a first time learning curve for me

Ticks are worse here this year buddy then I've seen em in many years!! Love the pups! I know they will make great ones because of the way they are crossed up. I've always said and had better luck with mixed up hounds like that! In my opinion people put to much into papers these days then they do the hounds themselves!!! Good luck with em brother I know they will make u some great hounds!

When you look back on pedigrees how far back do you take stock in? I have dogs that show up a couple times on my dogs paperwork in a 6 gen pedigree but some are further back. How far back can I get excited about before it becomes pointless?

Three generation is what I look at. The last three to me are the most important. Jmo

What are they an where did they come from

They are Coles National Cat Hound bred with a Tim Barry female. Both are outstanding bobcat hounds. We kept 4 pups. Two I kept and two for the owner of the female.

Both those pups are doing a good job on cats. They run bears as well. I don’t own them anymore but am in constant contact with there owners. Thank you for asking.
