Hey Dr. Dave! Superfeet Black healed my plantar fasciitis five years ago! I haven't had pain since! I was in so much pain, and I wanted relief! I spoke with an orthopedic surgeon in New York and he recommended I get my hands on a good orthotic. Superfeet Black did it for me! Thanks for your content. Straight forward and simple, yet very informative.
What a credible, and awesome video. Explanation and unbiased review sensed throughout video. These kinds of videos are lacking in the review community. Thank you for the video.
Just wanted to chime in about the yellow ones, they work very well in ice hockey skates because the boot of the skate helps maintain the shape. They are helpful for helping your heel stay put in the skate especially when skating backwards. The holes in the bottom aren’t for cooling in the way described, they’re supposed to let sweet drip out of the skate boot, which has holes drilled into the bottom to get sweat out of the skate altogether.
Thanks for this, so informative. I have peroneal tendonitis and was told I need an orthotic with a deep heel cup. Is there a particular style of Superfeet or other brand of insoles that would be best for the treatment of peroneal tendonitis? Thanks very much for all you do, Dr. Dave.
@@frugalfoot4973Thank you. I have watched your Orthotic videos but didn't find any information about what type of orthotic is best for Peroneal Tendonitis.
I was wearing expensive insoles for 25 years. They made my feet feel better, but never fixed anything. Stay with me now. Running shoes have thick soles that make your feet touch the ground un-naturally. Their wide soles stabilize your foot so much that your muscles atrophy. Next your arches hurt because you lost the muscle tone to hold them up. Barefoot walking or minimalist shoes allow your feet to spread far more and gives your foot more leverage for better balance. Now that I have retired, I have gone 2 months barefooted or in minimalist shoes. I am convinced that this is the cure. Now that I'm not wearing casts on my feet, my balance has improved, my foot dexterity has increased and my arches are returning, leaving me with much less foot pain.
@tawn sawyer I found my merino wool insert to wear out much quicker than the green. So I would select the green. Thanks for your question. All the best.
The black model saved my plantar fasciitis that fancy orthotics could not. Years later, I wore flip flops for about 6 months straight and didn't realise I was prone to morton's neuroma. I had to get specialised orthotics. Luckily they've improved the design. They never did, however feel like they were distributing my body's weight across my metatarsals (like the pad was slightly too far back). After worsening pain, I pulled out my old superfeet black and put a slightly thicker pad in the left shoe and put both pads slightly further down and now I have no pain. I should have saved my money and stuck with superfeet with taped down metatarsal pads. The black, for me, has the same arch height as my professionally fitted orthotics. So... purchase your expensive made for your orthotics and then try matching a superfeet model that is most like your orthotics (and metatarsal pads if you need them) so that you can have more than one pair.
Your insight is very accurate. Most custom orthotics are not built using engineering principles. Someday I plan to create an entire video series on this.
Superfeet Black cured my plantar fasciitis too! 😮 I was pain free after a week! It's been 5 years and I've been plantar fasciitis free since! And that's no BS 😅! (a little humor to match your username, lol).
Thank you. The in-depth review of their line of insoles really helped me choose. Of note - the carbon fiber arch support vs. one of the last ones you reviewed; it helped to which which wouldn't flex under use. Arch supports that flex, or 'cushion' are just about useless.
So which would be recommended for no arch heavy guy working in concrete in boots? Carbon or green? Wanting support to keep ankle from rolling inwards. Thanks.

Hi, I have plantar fasciitis. My podiatrist said That I need to wear stiff sole shoes and semi rigid support. My left foot have low arch . My right foot have low arch too , but it is higher than the the left foot. Could you please recommend to me that what insoles should I purchase ?
Thanks for the review. It helps a lot since the official product descriptions feel pretty generic. I'd like to add some thoughts on the yellow one (for inline skating) . I have not tried them, but from your video I think they might work a little better than you give them credit for (with inline skates, at least) . The inline skates that have a non removable liner, like the top of the line made of carbon fiber, have a molded sole / base and are more rigid all around than any shoe, so that shape would prevent the insole from fully collapsing under ones weight. Regarding the perforations, while I think they're not fully thought, some skate boots have ventilation holes, and in my experience / opinion, some are not about a real air flow, but to break the otherwise full insulation and allow some heat dissipation. It's not much, but I have a pair of boots that are fully sealed and from the first minutes of use, I wished they had any form of ventilation, no matter how little, but some. After watching your video I'm thinking of trying the yellow ones... They won't help with the ventilation, but the rised heel might help me transfer weight /power to the ball of my foot (I have flat feet and always used insoles in my skates and shoes)
My doctor once told me to go to a sports store and buy superfeet inserts, but she didn't tell me that there are different kinds. The store only had the blue ones, and they hurt so much!
Most of these companies have no clue on how to make good insoles. When you take this fact into consideration with them being insanely overpriced for cheap foam glued on top of plastic molds that costs literally 50 cents, it's criminal and explains why there are so many new companies getting into this industry.
here's a few suggestions worth trying Test out one of the natural remedies for plantar foot. Something as simple as ginger root, which can be bought at your drug store, is a good anti-inflammatory. Ginger root is in a group of plants known as Cox inhibitors. That means they prevent inflammation naturally. Another natural remedy for pain is Bromelain. Bromelain is an enzyme got from pineapples. If you drink the raw juice or eat raw pineapple, you can gt advantage from the natural pain relief of Bromelain. This is natural healing at its very best. @@IExpectedBSJustNotThisMuchBS - I have flat feet. I currently work a job that requires me to spend several hours on my feet. I'm now in my late 30's and feel that my pes planus are starting to create a case of plantar fasciitis. I once tried the Superfeet black insoles and they did help my feet a bit. My feet and legs felt less tired after work. I didn't like they don't have cushioning, though.
The first and second wear of a fresh pair of insoles were not comfortable. However, after the break in and mold, these insoles are phenomenal. I’m on my feet at work, the gym, hanging out and my feet are happy with superfeet insoles!
Love the video, but not sure it goes in a “review” category. Did you wear them for any length of time, or literally do anything other than just open the box?🤷🏻♂️
So helpful. The company is not this clear at explaining it all and I will go further and say they only confuse the buyer more with their lack of tabular comparison resources. I've used three types and one, (the original low profile leather), is now discontinued. I think Green and Orange are the best sellers for a reason. New users might be shocked that the arch is a bit further back and closer to the heel on this brand than on most others, but after a day or two of acclimatization they will understand. Expensive insoles and cheap shoes are better than the opposite!
If you are carrying heavy items you may benefit from an insert that is more rigid to compensate for the increased weight. I like the Superfeet Carbon because it seems to be the most rigid of the Heritage line. Thank you for your comment.
I have planters fasciitis and bought the green super feet c. I'm size 7, I made a mistake and put my foot on the insert and trimmed around the top of my foot. I didn't takeout the sole in my shoe. So, my toes hang over the insert in my shoe. Do I need to buy another pair of inserts? I wished I'd seen the video before I trimmed!
Doc, thank you for your time and concern for us in making these videos---can you please tell me if this carbon insert is the most rigid that you have found?
I think the carbon insert felt the most rigid in the Heritage line. But from what I recall the dress style Superfeet inserts felt even more rigid to me. I made a video on them as well. It is in the arch support playlist.
I have the same issue im trying to find something to help until i can get the bone sized down. Having surgery sometime in the winter hopefully. @@jacobhiers Mine does not seem to be as serious as you described. I solved mine by just wearing super tight tennis shoes that allowed for no movement inside the shoe. Its still there but a lot better now. Custom orthotics did not work for me and made it hurt even more, despite breaking it in.

I made a separate video that explains how to measure your arch. Here is the link: ruclips.net/video/5BicEUtYSkE/видео.html In all of my arch support videos (including this one) I reveal the height of each arch support. Thanks for your comment.
That is a great question shaikh syafiq. You might consider the Superfeet Orange. ( amzn.to/2rinhV0 ) It has a deep heel cup for added stability when you are on the board and the forefoot has a foam cushion to help with absorbing impact. If you go that route let me know how it works out for you. Thanks for your question.
Thanks for this helpful video. I am looking for an insole that is not more than 2 or 3mm thick at the heel. Also my arch is about 2cm. Could you recommend a superfeet insole for me please. When I have bought insoles in the past they lift my ankle up too high out of the shoe so it feels like my foot is halfway out of the shoe. My current insoles which came with my shoes are 2 -3 mm thick throughout. Thanks :
David: Thanks for your comment. Remove the sock liner that came with your shoe/sneaker and then add the insert. Otherwise you need to start looking for a shoe with higher heel counters. Find a store that sells Superfeet and try them on before buying. That is the only way your are going to know.
Finally purchased some superfeet greens after having stabbing pain in my heels 3 hours in out of my 10 hour shift. The first day i used them, i had ZERO stabbing pain. I supinate/under pronate when i walk and stand and found out i have high arches, as soon i put these in my work boots i can feel my feet make full contact with the insole. I will be honest after about hour 7, my feet did start to get very tired. I am hoping this is just the normal break in period since the insole is deceivingly firm.
I have flat feet and walking has become painful, at least for long distances. Just got over posterior tendinitis. Which do you think would be best? Thanks
Green or blue. Also depends on shoe. I never tried the others colors although orange is my next one I want to try. For red wing boots I wear blue. Lately for my running shoes I wear green. Saving my life right now.
That is an excellent question. Hockey skates are tough because there really isn't any room for a good arch support. I'd go back to the store that sold you the skates and ask them for suggestions. A physical therapist might be able to recommend some strength drills that might help. Ask your doctor what he or she thinks about that option.

I have a bad foot, I bent it when I was younger and it never healed correctly on top of that I have flat feet. I’ve been running for 2 years, and I started to use an insert my second year after getting a different set of running shoes. But I’m on my 3 year and now I have new shoes and I’ve worn out my inserts. I’m having pain on my knees and above my ankles. What would you recommend?
Ruddy: Thank you for your comment. There are so many variables that can be causing your problems: flat feet, arthritis, trauma from your injury, to name a few. I cannot even begin to tell you my opinion without seeing your foot and doing a physical examination. I would strongly recommend you call a podiatrist or orthopod and express your concerns to them. I wish I could be of more help.
You might consider the original: Superfeet Green, especially if you require a wide width. The deep heel cup and the rigidity of the support is tough to beat. If you need more than Green, go with Superfeet Carbon.
Arturo: Most over the counter arch supports are not very high which creates quite a problem for people with high arches. Here are two possible options: Check out this Sof Sole video as they offer three different arch support heights: ruclips.net/video/kA9ZNTer8EM/видео.html If you are sold on Superfeet then you might want to check out the dress inserts in this video - I found them to be quite supportive: ruclips.net/video/joFSZO44OSs/видео.html I hope this helps. Thanks for your comment.
Which one is the best for squatting heavy weight in tight lifting shoes with a very high heal? I need a pretty high arch so my ankle and arch doesnt collapse in when going down and up on the squats
FSKviking: I don't think any of the inserts reviewed in this video will satisfy your requests. Instead, check out this video and consider if that arch support might work out better for your activity. ruclips.net/video/joFSZO44OSs/видео.html Thanks for your comment.
Try the blues or the carbon. These two + the orange have stiffer caps than the other options mentioned and hence should offer better stability under load. I would personally opt for the carbons if you have any concern over volume.
Generally speaking, men's feet are broader than women's feet. When shoes are built they are constructed on "molds" which are called lasts. Until recently, women's shoes were constructed on men's lasts. Now, a lot of the better women's shoes and sneakers are built on women specific lasts. A ladies shoe built on a woman's last will have a narrower heel and fit the "typical" woman's foot a bit better. The Superfeet Berry was built with the woman's specific shoe in mind especially when compared to the original Superfeet Green. But overall I thought that the Superfeet Carbon was fairly slim so you might find that it fits your foot nicely. Thanks for watching the video.
I purchased the orange. I had to return them. I have high arches but the superfeet arch support was more prominent towards my heel and not my arch. Uncomfortable. Disappointing. I use Dr Scholls CF130 now.
Hello Nashaat: Probably Superfeet Orange since it is padded. However, you may also wish to check out this video on how to pad the ball of the foot. ruclips.net/video/lbK4f9ryf5o/видео.html Thanks for your comment.
You might consider the most rigid insert that you can tolerate. When I evaluated the Heritage fleet of Superfeet inserts I felt that the Carbon insert was the stiffest.
If you want cushioning in the forefoot and you want a Superfeet insert then go with the Orange. Occasionally a met pad can help as well. I'll have to make a video on how to make a home made met pad and how to use it correctly. Then it can be applied directly to the arch support..
Thank you for this video. I've heard good things about Superfeet. Do you know which one's are best for extreme heel pain. I can hardly walk right now. Been in agony for 2 months now. Hurts more after sitting for long periods and then getting up again. Thank you!!!!
Kathy: Since the pain is so bad it might not be a bad idea to have it checked out by a podiatrist. In the meantime, what you could try doing is putting an arch support in your shoe. Unfortunately, arch supports are not categorized by the severity of your heel pain. So you basically try one and see if it works. Now here is an idea: You could try Superfeet green (see this video: ruclips.net/video/3-ccG304xxk/видео.html ) and then if that doesn't work you could try adding a felt arch pad to the arch support to raise the arch a bit further (see this video: ruclips.net/video/caya-G88urc/видео.html ) I hope you get relief soon.

Superfeet Green is always a good introductory arch support in the Heritage line. Superfeet Berry is women's specific and has a softer forefoot. I think that both of those inserts are a good representation of what Superfeet has to offer.
I tried both and I personally preferred the carbon insert for running. I felt the stiffness of the insert help combat the greater impact from running. Thanks for your comment.
I just bought a pair of Converse Chuck Taylors. Gawd they are so uncomfortable. The insole is unremovable. I think ill look into the SF Black or Carbon.
Frugal Foot jesus they cost just as much as the Chuck Taylors. I should have bought the leather version which comes with a vulcan rubber insole. Stupid Converses. Looking into getting the 3/4 superfeet now.
Just a follow up, i bought the 3/4 and its so much better now. It seems last week when i tried them i had them in the wrong foot. Yes im a ding dong. Highly recommend them for anyone who has Converse.

I have custom orthotics ( for some years). I have flat feet (lifelong fallen arches + collapsed ankles) Had cork and other materials that were a bit softer, but theyre so pricey. Do you think superfeet can be an alternative, or do you need it custom fit to the foot? There's very little good podiatrists in the Netherlands sadly that make good custom insoles. I notice the custom orthotics are always quite thick and I have to fit tens of pairs of shoes to find one that fits, because they come with slim insoles that you remove, not leaving a lot of room left. Such a struggle :(
Hi Rich: I recommend you watch my series on orthotics and you will learn a lot about custom inserts. It might help steer you in a good direction or at least give you better insight so you can answer your question.
I think that depends upon what kind of dancing shoe you are wearing and what style of dance you are referring to. If you are wearing a ballroom style shoe I think you'll find them difficult to utilize. On the other hand, if you are square dancing and wearing a boot then it shouldn't be much of a problem.
yes , it is mainly like dancing salsa or just western style like boots sometimes sneakers . i over pronate and i always hear about posted heel or metatarsal footbed shoes . if i roll in which insoles could i use ? thank you for answering......ida guerra
Excellent question. Impossible to answer specifically because of all the variables (how often they are used, how they are used - dress/outdoors/sports). But overall I think the Superfeet line looks well built. The part that usually breaks down first on my inserts is the top cover and the Heritage line appears fairly rugged. I have a pair of the original greens. And I mean original - given to me by a sales rep well over a decade or two ago. Thanks for your comment.
Hi Juan. Thanks for your question. This is simply my opinion but I think the carbon insert would be the best overall for running. I copied and pasted my comment section regarding this insert below: Carbon: amzn.to/2DEYhtw In my opinion, it is the insert to start with if you are an athlete or on your feet for long periods of time throughout the day. It is the most rigid of the inserts in the Heritage line and measures 2.8 cm which is excellent support for an over the counter arch support.
HI ! if my feet have a high arch yet they over pronate , then i have knock knees and it embarreses me . am i an over pronation person with a hight arch ? help !!! ida guerra

Hello aztecabo1: I have had that question asked before. See below. As I told that person, I would suggest you first watch this video: ruclips.net/video/5BicEUtYSkE/видео.html Then you can better appreciate just how high (or flat) your arch really is. You might be surprised. Once you have that information you have the option to go back and watch this video and pick out the insert that might best fit your arch. Remember that these are not custom inserts so no insert fits perfect. Hope that helps.
I have yet to find a proper explanation for the colors. Its as if no one wants us to know. What color is best for people with flat feet please? The person that without support. The ankles roll in and feet develop neuromas for lack of arch. There is a reason for the colors, but no real explanation on who would be better served by what color.
Excellent comment. I never thought of associating the color of the device with a foot type. That would be a good marketing idea. I can't speak for Superfeet - it might be a good question to ask them.
Hey doc, which would be best for me? I want an arc support but I mainly use the front part of my foot to walk/run. Would any still be helpful or do you have any in mind just for the way I walk?
Rumeel12708: Forefoot runners end up striking the floor with a high arched/rigid foot type. Therefore a softer insert would be beneficial to lessen the blow. I would also seek out an insert that has a lot of cushioning below the met heads. Maybe even a Powerstep insert...check out the video and see if anything sounds like it might work: ruclips.net/video/65ROgJbArb4/видео.html
Frugal Foot alright thank you 😀, I can handle a day of walking or exercise but just looking something better for my chuck taylors, not much cushion, love them but thats like the only flaw for me, i use them for gym, running hiking, and daily commute so why not make an improvement. Thanks for the help
@@scorpionhavock5350 Part of the problem is the heel height. 30mm equates to 1.18 inches. Most shoes have a 1/2 inch wedge. When you stand on a regular arch support in your shoe your heel weight will lift the front of the arch support 30mm. That, in combination with a potentially tighter vamp of the boot probably makes an otc arch support uncomfortable. Have you tried making your own? ruclips.net/video/caya-G88urc/видео.html

I appreciate your comment and your input.
awesome video doc! what would you recommend for basketball and i have medium arc?
My doctor once told me to go to a sports store and buy superfeet inserts, but she didn't tell me that there are different kinds. The store only had the blue ones, and they hurt so much!
This is super helpful! Thanks so much doc!
Most of these companies have no clue on how to make good insoles. When you take this fact into consideration with them being insanely overpriced for cheap foam glued on top of plastic molds that costs literally 50 cents, it's criminal and explains why there are so many new companies getting into this industry.
here's a few suggestions worth trying
Test out one of the natural remedies for plantar foot.
(I discovered these and more tips from fergs foot formula website )
I wonder where you get your expertise to say "Most of these companies have no clue on how to make good insoles." The black, for me, has the same arch height as my orthotics. It's worth getting fitted by a professional and finding one that fits you best before casting aspersions on a product that a lot of people have benefitted from.

I’m on my feet at work, the gym, hanging out and my feet are happy with superfeet insoles!
so you need all life wear arch or just do some calves workout
i had weak muscles of feet but im extreme muscular in fibers
Love the video, but not sure it goes in a “review” category. Did you wear them for any length of time, or literally do anything other than just open the box?🤷🏻♂️
Are these any good for people who spend most of their time on their feet?
Hello I have flat feet. When I go shopping with family, my feet hurts really bad. Will these help?
Wish one is the thickest for a roomy blundstone? The green or the berry? Thanks
What about for performance advanced skiers (ski boots)?
How long do these generally last before needing to replace them?
500 miles or 1 year

Hi there, which one would you recommend for an individual experiencing over-pronation as well as Achilles tendonitis. Thank you
The orange.
Hey great video. Was just wondering which would be the best for long hours of standing say 10-12 hours thanks
God would know the answer to that question.
So i measured my arch and its an inch so 2.5 centimeters. What arch height should i go for? A 3cm so when it compresses down i get my 2.5?
which do you think is best for work? i usually am standing and carrying heavy things for about 5-8 hours a day.
If you are carrying heavy items you may benefit from an insert that is more rigid to compensate for the increased weight. I like the Superfeet Carbon because it seems to be the most rigid of the Heritage line. Thank you for your comment.
Would you recommend Blue in a Asolo Fugitive GTX for wide flat foot, no real arch when standing?
Thank You!
Hang onto those inserts. Your question brings up a good topic for a video.
Which ones are the highest arch available, and what is the max ( green 3centimeters?) or is there any higher? Please help

Any recommendation for flatfeet, mainly for skateboarding, and impact absorbing.?
That is a great question shaikh syafiq. You might consider the Superfeet Orange. ( amzn.to/2rinhV0 ) It has a deep heel cup for added stability when you are on the board and the forefoot has a foam cushion to help with absorbing impact. If you go that route let me know how it works out for you. Thanks for your question.

Green
Or blue for flat feet
@@frugalfoot4973 That's sound advice. I am sure there are shops nearby that sell these insoles. Thanks.
What about hammerto from superfeet
Hello, I’m having a hard time finding a sneaker to fit my super feet carbon insole. Any recommendations?
One thing you could try doing Jillian is to look for a "running" store that sells Superfeet inserts and running sneakers. That works in my home town.

Hello Great video, I get really sore feet when I use my ice hockey skates due to my feet having a low arch, what product do you recommend ?
That is an excellent question. Hockey skates are tough because there really isn't any room for a good arch support. I'd go back to the store that sold you the skates and ask them for suggestions. A physical therapist might be able to recommend some strength drills that might help. Ask your doctor what he or she thinks about that option.

Lmao I’d recommend swimming and not running
Thank you for the video, which world you recommend for standing all 6-8 hours?
You might consider the original: Superfeet Green, especially if you require a wide width. The deep heel cup and the rigidity of the support is tough to beat. If you need more than Green, go with Superfeet Carbon.
Do you notice any pressure from the rivets joining the foam to the hard plastic?
No. I've never noticed it. I have several pair and haven't felt it on any of them.

Try the blues or the carbon. These two + the orange have stiffer caps than the other options mentioned and hence should offer better stability under load. I would personally opt for the carbons if you have any concern over volume.
@@frugalfoot4973 Thank you
You stated that the berry is for women's version, can I still get carbon will that work for women's feet?

You might consider the most rigid insert that you can tolerate. When I evaluated the Heritage fleet of Superfeet inserts I felt that the Carbon insert was the stiffest.
hi Doc, what would you recommend for someone with capsulitis? I want some cushioning under the front part of my foot

It might help steer you in a good direction or at least give you better insight so you can answer your question.
can those be worn to go dancing ?
I think that depends upon what kind of dancing shoe you are wearing and what style of dance you are referring to. If you are wearing a ballroom style shoe I think you'll find them difficult to utilize. On the other hand, if you are square dancing and wearing a boot then it shouldn't be much of a problem.

length of usable service ?
Excellent question. Impossible to answer specifically because of all the variables (how often they are used, how they are used - dress/outdoors/sports). But overall I think the Superfeet line looks well built. The part that usually breaks down first on my inserts is the top cover and the Heritage line appears fairly rugged. I have a pair of the original greens. And I mean original - given to me by a sales rep well over a decade or two ago. Thanks for your comment.

Hi Juan. Thanks for your question. This is simply my opinion but I think the carbon insert would be the best overall for running. I copied and pasted my comment section regarding this insert below:

@@scorpionhavock5350 Part of the problem is the heel height. 30mm equates to 1.18 inches. Most shoes have a 1/2 inch wedge.
