- In this quick video, I compare the 2022 Devialet Mania against the B&O Beoplay P6!! Which do you think is better? Let me know in the comments!! Both Speakers are being compared using Bluetooth connections to make it fair! Distance from speaker 1m and using Binaural mics! Enjoy and subscribe!!!
Owned the mania, love how it sounds and definitely LOVE it’s design especially when there’s bass
Hey man you should try to get an affiliate link for the products in your videos 👌
Also you have a nice mic and a good voice. I suggest writing scripts to keep the commentary as short and efficient as possible, this will lead to more views. Your choice, thanks for the vids man 👌
Thanks a lot for the very valuable feedback! I definitely will start script writing instead of speaking freestyle. Appreciate your feedback!!
I have both and I can tell you that the mania is so much more powerful than the p6 it’s power can probably be compared to much much bigger speakers from all other brands. Devialet has hit the ball out of the park! Absolutely love it!
Thank you for this very good comparison. I have been looking for a portable but very good sounding speaker for a long time. I have been through many manufacturers. All of them were cheap Chinese products. Here, the Mania sounds really great in contrast to the B&O. I can hear different worlds between the both. The Mania does not distort in any way, even at 100% volume. But you are not the first YT channel owner to prove that the Mania is great. Please keep up the good work. Servus.
Vifa Oslo is for you then
Bingo!!! What a review !!!. Was eagerly waiting for this one. I am waiting for the Mania to be available in my country India. Since my son is in Music/Video production, he wants one and off course one for me. Thank you so much for this video. Cheers!!
Thank you Dhairyashil. I’d love to hear your thoughts of when you and your son get them and pair them into stereo mode! Would be lovely to hear your feedback and review! Cheers
I have a beoplay P6 for years...still does...the best portable speaker!
Definitely still a good speaker
Well after listening to them both with my Sennheiser PXC 550 ii headphones placed it on natural, I could hear what you were talking about. Indeed the Mania sound wider and whole. I first listened to it on a Harman Kadon Citation One and later listened to it with a Sennheiser headphones and I could tell the difference as you mentioned. It's good to listen to these kind of comparison with a better studio grade headphones
If you intend to use the Devialet Mania for streaming videos on a Windows device, be mindful that the sound will come out of speaker out of sync with the image in the video. Devialet is aware of this sound latency issue but does not intend on correcting it. The latency issue will not occur with IOS devices, only Windows and some cell phones.
I use all Apple from Mac to iPhone to iPad an can confirm, it's fantastic. No issues, no delays.
Thats sad that a $800 speaker has latency like wtf.
@@youtubechannel-uw8xu Any product with DSP has a latency.
@@youtubechannel-uw8xu How about the fact that until I made them aware of it they didn't know and now that the do know and then found through their own tests that the latency exists, they have no plans to correct the issue!
Anything Bluetooth has latency even iOS has it idk what you're talking about here bud
Dear Bro, I do have two questions after having listened to the Mania. Do you think the Mania throttle the bass above 85%-90% volume ? And is there any difference in the bass when plugged in and on Battery Power , that the Mania reproduces?
i own the mania. question 1: right, the bass is reduced. question 2: there is no difference
@@ricospichale1718 after 65 procent volume , the bass is not pumping anymore, same with the Phantom 2
@@bogdanmihai2969 I do have a pair of the Gold Phantoms and 98db Reactors. What I noticed was , both stop upping the bass after 80% volume. This happened especially after the shift from DOS1 to DOS2 and taking the Dialog out of the equation for the Phantom Golds. The Reactors by default came with DOS2. Hence they do this right from the start.
One thing I'd like to note.
While it seems to me that while the bass doesn't get any louder past 80% volume (woofer excursion is maxing out at that point), the bass does seem to get more punchy. There's no added rumble but there is more feel when the percussion hits.
@@combustionpropulsion4883 I do have the Phantom Golds and the Reactors 98db. I think this stands true with them as well. Since the Phantom Golds are very powerful at 1100 RMS, they don't reach that tipping point in Normal use, or shall I say it is less audible at that point >80%. With the Reactors 98db it is somewhat audible >80% with power upto 400 RMS. But it will be very very audible in the Mania as it is around 110 RMS @ >80%. Either way, it is a "Battery Powered " speaker, so we have to give it that handicap of "Limited Power Source" as compared to a Plugged in Speaker.I might be wrong but I think the Gold Phantoms had an Exceptional performance with the DOS1 and the Dialog system in the early life of the Phantoms. The DOS2 upgrade has " Definitely "Controlled/Capped" the performance of the Golds.I remeber the amount of Bass that they used to deliver was absolutely profound right upto the MAX Volume.
Mania Sounds awesome! P6 sounds very good on the highs! Mania sounds better all rnd I would say!
I agree, esp when you tweak it’s EQ settings
I dont know if it is the way you tested it but to me in this video the Mania doesn't sound good at all. Muddy and unclear. I hope its better in real life and/or that you can alter the way you test to give a better representation. Thanks though
Love the review! Can we see the mania vs Beolit 20?
own both, beolit 20 sounds more in your face (bright?) because speakers face front ways but mania other than the subs, the speakers fire up at about 45 degrees so not in your face giving it a more spatial sound - mania kicks it for bass.
Hello! Please tell me, have you compared Devialet with Dali Katch? I have listened to almost every wireless speaker on the market last year and now have 2 Dali Katch g2 as stereo pair. They are simply amazing in terms of vocals and mids, their detail and naturalness. They are very close in this to the big Dali bookshelves. To some extent, for me, this is a portable hi-fi. Can Devialet give more?
I'm curious to!!
Great stuff. Would you be able to do comparisons of the Devialet Mania against more mainstream speakers like JBL, uboom etc
Noone sounds better that Mania...
For the size it sounds pretty good jbl boom box 3 is a pretty flat speaker doesn't get as low but pretty similar in details in the highs and mids ue is an overall balanced speaker but at high volumes the mania still wins max spl but all at 50% volume should sound pretty similar highs lows and mids
Even though the B&O is brighter seemingly to have more detail, but the balance for the Mania just sounds so much more "real".
I've been watching you "Mania" tests and I really like them...!! I'm subscribing...
Thanks Edgar!!
Your voice is so good, better than both the speaker ❤
The Mania has a pleasing sound. Not necessarily precise but I love it. I have the Huawei Sound X and I guess the Mania would sound close to that since they're both technically tuned by DEVIAHLHEYY
mania better. i have sound X too )
The sound x is really something else, the fact that Huawei has unfortunately had its brand ruined by USA means we can obtain this amazing sound for a stupid low price. I would happily pay £400 for the sound x its unreal! If they ever make a second one it needs a battery to allow at least 3 hours playback and LDAC or LHDC all the high res codecs... Optical in would be nice for a wired option too. Maybe even just an SD card slot with abilty to play flac and wav OGG.....
@@Dr23rippa The saddest part about the Sound X is that they feature a TWS mode. However it only works in China. I only realized this after I had bought a pair of it 🥹
What’s the size of devialet ? With what U can compare it ? 😀
How does this compare to the JBL BOOMBOX 3?
Like a Mercedes to a Ford lol
Could you make clip for Devialet Mania vs B&O Beolit 20!?
In Denmark the B&O speaker is dkr. 2000 while the Mania is dkr. 6500... So the speaker that costs 3.25x more is better? Colour me surprised :P
Yeah, its like comparing the B&O to a JBL lol
@@eXWoLL Not sure how to respond to that... Is there a point?
The P6 is a lot crisper and cleaner. The Mania sounds almost muddy.
The B&O sounds more clear....
Agree,the other one sounds muffled
B&O hands down❤
The mania sounds slightly richer while the P6 somehow sounds louder 🤨; it is especially noticeable in the last track when the speakers go to 100%.
I am still a big fan of Devialet and got myself the mania.
The Devilaet mania sounds more "grown up" i think the reason why the P6 sounds louder is because human ears have a sensitivity towards Mids and treble, not so much towards bass, with bass we can feel it more then we can hear, but in the case of the devialet here for the ammount of bass that it pushes out keeping up with the same volume is amazing, RUclips compresses the sound quality into 96kbps or 126 kbps which is absolutely horrendous and probably doesnt actually capture the full richness of the sound of EITHER of these 2 speakers we can only go by what the user tells us he is experiencing but in my opinion i like to have a warmer sounding speaker rather then a harsh treble and mid driven speaker, even though it may be loud some sounds may come off as a shock to your ears, and i feel the more you get older you start appreciating the warmer sounds more then the high trebley sounds. Some people are also naturally sensitive to the treble region and that could cause some side effects such as tinnitus in the later years of some1s life. What i do love about this review is that the Bass in particular is not floppy or airy or MUDDY it is clean punchy and tight and i love it i already ordered one myself
@@ernestochang1744 I 100% agree with you! It’s very hard to tell from the video, but despite the obvious highs and mids being pushed by the P6, the Mania is much more balanced at its flat EQ settings. The B&O has more equalizer settings but I’d liken it to having 10 gears in a 1 liter 4 cylinder car, you’re not going to do much with all that customization. The bass from the mania is nothing short of astounding, you really need to hear it to believe it! I’m like you, I prefer warmer sound and bass that I can actually feel.
When it comes to naturality the mania is MUCH more adult and serious product, and man, that bass is so fast and accurate
Its a toy, look at Vifa Oslo for precise and neutral speaker
Welcome to the SMOOTH JAZZ: SKY WATCHER by BRIAN SIMPSON channel. And oh yes, he reviews speakers once in a while too LOL!
Quite dissapointed with the Mania in this video. However, I think it shall be a lot better “in live”. Cannot imagine that there is such a big difference respectively that the Mania is so poor in real life, having watched different videos and read various tests. Thanks a lot for the comparison.
Also, the mania sounds a bit muddy, while it is deeper in the bass. But I think that this is the effect of the p6's treble boost.
This is correct, the Mania at its default equalizer sounds slightly muddy for certain genres of music! The B&O has definite treble boost! When you change the EQ on the mania it becomes a very different speaker!
@@langamlalazi6803 Yeah,I hope that the mania doesn't need any kind of more sophisticated eq and it sounds close to neutral from the factory. Still, for this amount of money we should have fully parametric eq's.
The muddiness is due to the omnidirectional design of the speaker. The mid/high speaker drivers being off axis causes nodes where the mids sorta cancel out.
@@redvivid not necessarily. Some slight better tuning and everything would have been perfect. Just slightly.
Devialet is a new born company with hype, huge prices and little knowledge about audio. You're comparing apples with oranges.
D. Mania sounds muddy but heavier specially in the bass department, while the P6 sounds brightier and clearer... the bass is quite good but not powerful than mania...
If you use a Shanling MP3/DAC however you want to call it like the MO or M9 any on that calibre you can adjust the EQ to elevate the highs. Belive me it sounds unreal! Choose bluetooth with the LDAC high setting....
I can hear soundstage on P6 if that Mania is a mono speaker, that would be a big failure for such a nice bass and design.
Please compare the Mania to the A9 you have in the background. I would be curious of how they compare using Airplay 2.
You got it!! Look out for that video tomorrow!!
Thank you for making this so quickly! The A9 Mania comparison you did was very eye opening. My goal is to have a decent portable that is comparable to the A9 and I honestly believe this is a real contender for what I have been trying to purchase for years.
Thank you for your time!
@@AddisonDoesStuff you’re welcome! I was very curious to see how it would stack up to an A9. Very surprised how much it can fill up a room!
Jeez!
You are comparing a speaker that cost way over twice as much as the ‘competitor’.
You also cannot compare the volumes at 65% of maximum because the speakers will produce different SPLs at these settings.
Obviously the above will also effect the bass and treble you hear.
Thanks for the effort but it’s not really a credible review
I've seen (and heard) worse. We'll all be looking forward to your review.
Thanks for the comment! I think I did mention in my previous video that I didn’t have a like for like comparison and did it out of curiosity as those are the only 2 speakers I have available to me! You’re right, the SPLs are different at the 65% so it’s not scientifically accurate by any means! It was just a curiosity take!
Excellent video. I think that this video shows that the P6 is an amazing speaker. Given what the Mania costs, who makes it, and what it consists of, I expected it to deliver a night and day difference. The bass was boomy and bloated. I did enjoy it, especially with the house music, but it was not that much better.
What would have been a really good teat would have been a pair of P6 speakers as a stereo pair compared to the mania. That would have been somewhat better. The P6 sends the right channel out the front and the left channel out the back, so it is not suited to single play. As a stereo pair, each speaker delivers only one channel, and in that config, 2 p6 speakers are something else entirely. I think they could deliver something closer to the mania. The Mania's bass performance would always trump the P6, of course, but for fidelity and power 2 P6 speakers are phenomenal.
I loved the video. Thanks so much for making it. Subbed.
P6 is not amazing, look at comparison with Vifa Helsinki which is same in size...
@@lukabosnjak3829 It amazes me. Hence amazing, haha.
I got a Vifa Helsinki, and you are right - the Helsinki is a little more mature in hifi presentation. The Bass is lower and well-controlled, and the highs and separation are very good.
The Vifa is an old speaker, and the b battery life is atrocious. The sound is excellent, but the day-to-day workings could be better than the P6. Also, the software could be better.
The sound, however, is somewhat fuller and more revealing, especially in the sub-bass - it is also very loud.
That being said - the P6 is an excellent speaker, and I sent the Vifa back because I actually preferred the sound of the 2 P6 speakers in stereo to the single Vifa.
I don't think I have finished with that story - I may try and get a couple of Vifa Helsinki speakers and compare them in stereo to the P6.
A sign of the Vifa's quality is that it has not reduced much in cost, even having been around for so long.
It is a great portable speaker.
Just incredible.
Going back to the comparison of the Mania and the P6: This is not an accurate comparison as the two speakers are not matched physically. The P6 is a small speaker which pushes one channel out the front and the other out the back - it is a stereo speaker, but putting a mic on one side of the speaker may not give an accurate representation. EVEN with all that, the P6 sounded comparable to the Mania. That amazes me. If there were 2 P6 speakers - I think they would have given the Mania a run for the money. I was expecting a more significant performance gap.
To someone else, they may think the P6 underperforms, and they would be very entitled to their opinion. I wish them well.
I wouldn't change my set for the world - they amaze me.
However, I would love to hear the Mania in a stereo pair.
Is the room itself (especially with the shiny floors) responsible for the boomy ness of the Bass?
It might be the case that the Mania sounds much more controlled in a more treated space or even outside.
When you have the mic far from the speaker, it will pick up the reverb from the sound bouncing off the walls, floor, ceiling and any other smooth surfaces in the room. This can sometimes make the sound muddy. Even with all this, both sounded really good. The Mania had the Bass, which was just incredible. The P6 had good Bass but less and had the definition of the highs. It seemed a little more revealing, but that might have been to do with the quality of the recording - or even more likely the quality of the speaker on my PC or of the headphones I was hearing it with - or of the quality of the RUclips recording coming through my PC and the way my PC deals with it. The likelihood of me hearing what it actually sounds like is low. However, I was impressed that they sounded so similar.
Loved the sound of both.
if you played them together you would get a good sound balance.
How much better is the sq if you use wifi and not bluetooth?
There's no difference
Please do comparison between Mania & b&o emerge
Yeah. The beoplay, on the second song was already distorted . That classic b&o effect from many of their speakers.
Definitely good observation. The B&O was struggling with that bass, and if I had turned it up any higher the DSP would have completely cut off the bass to the woofer and you’d hear mainly highs and mids only.
@@langamlalazi6803 Finally some youtuber with a nice hearing. :) I am glad that there are some of this better channels on youtube. (Most of them just say that they are close, or they wouldn't know what to choose and either of them are nice, etc.)
I don't listen to any of them, except oluv from oluv's gadgets.I also follow him on patreon.
Il just stick to my UE Hyperboom, tweak the eq and its base, clarity snd 24 battery life is amazing now @ $300 🎉
I like Bang & Olufsen.,!
Wow the P6 has a much open sound… big failure from Devialet.
Illusion. Mania diffuses sound in 360º upwards, so when a mic is used to pick up sound, the fact the mid and treble drivers are not facing towards the camera makes that illusion that is not as clear, but in the room will sound much wider and diffused. Mania is on another whole league
The B&O P6 sounds better to my headphone than that of Mania
What about belit 20
Mania vs Beoplay Balance please
Nobody on the internet , i mean truly nobody can answer to a very simply question. Does this produces real stereo image or NOT? does this sound congested with no sense of space? I guess buyers of that ball dont care - only care about bass and loudness. And hip hop
I will answer you as honestly as I can. It does not have a good stereo soundstage. Simple as that. It is 360 sound and anyone who says that it has a stereo soundstage is imagining it, it’s physically not possible at that size in my opinion. But this is why people like it, it’s bass is phenomenal, it’s almost mind blowing engineering that something so small can produce that much bass. It’s crazy
I used premium headphones and devialet sounded heavily mudded.
I don't know which speaker you turned on because you didn't show any symbols.
And you should talk less and let the audience decide for themselves.
Hm, on my end it comes across as if the mania is lacking highs and mids. It sounds less clear. But yeah bass is obviously deeper and less boomy upper bass.
Thats because the woofers are facing the microphone , whereas the 4 mids are facing upwards for surround. to get a complete "actual" experience of a 360 degrees speaker is ,to be there in person. Or have mics setup to catch the sound from multiple angles. Thats the diff between Stereo and Surround Sound.
@@dheerajjadhav12 that's a valid point I was thinking about myself. Makes it difficult to record the comparison. But anyway it looks like the dispersion of those fullrange driver isn't super wide.
@Dhairyashil you are 100% spot on here! After listening to the recording I realised that my position did not do the Mania justice. It's very hard to capture with the midrange speakers are facing upwards and not forward like the B&O. I tried to do another recording with a different mic position at higher level and it sounded better, but not a side by side again with the Beoplay P6. One thing I am not getting is a good stereo stage from the unit itself.
@@langamlalazi6803ear Bro,A suggestion . If you want a stereo stage, 1. you might want to keep the Mania near a wall, so that the back two drivers would emphasise the front drivers(as described by Devialet) or 2. You could try switching “OFF” the mics, so that you could get a “Non Tuned” sound through all the four drivers in “Stereophonic” Alternated Left and Right as you move around the speaker. Thanks !!! Cheers!!! You’re efforts rock !!!❤
You have to compare the mania to b&o level
I would genuinely LOVE to compare the two, however the level is soooo expensive!!! I’ll see if I can compare in store!
Can this beach ball emit a sound field of any similar level to these: ruclips.net/video/r9pOXq0Gdfk/видео.html (listen on big headphones, not earbuds). or, do they sound like being squeezed inside a tennis ball?
think the mania is too bassy. the p6 has no bass really. thats what i heard.
The mania sound like expensive Bose(muddy). For the money EV Everse 8 is wayyy better. You can say but….
The old Vifa Copenhagen is much better in sound quality.

Thank you kindly!!
You need to watch " oluv's gadgets " channel to learn how to do sound comparisons properly. You can't tell what they sound like listening on youtube unless you know what you are doing.
Mania is poor in sound.. lack of details. Only bass is better.
Mania destroyed the P9.
Sorry, P6
Too static display.....dont you have a face.....hands ??????
B&O = Bright & Over-priced, period.
I’ve just compared the Beolit20 to the Mania, and it was far better. And a third of the price.
@@tonkerdog1 Would love to know the details. I have audited both as well and I can't think of a good usecase for Beolit20. IMO, B&O is just too bright in all areas, it tries a little too hard to create a larger sound stage, but it just sounded louder, not better.
@@tinyfatgiant Ive played with the B&O app to modify the bass treble etc, and it sounds to my ears far better now. It has too much bass potential and delivers that off the shelf. I prefer the look of the Devialet, but it just doesn’t sound as good with a variety of music.
@@tonkerdog1 B&O speakers sound overbright to the point it makes too much normal and looses the difference between details and fine details because at some point they all sound the same. That plus the fact that the Beloit 20 doesn’t have a below 40hz slope, it looses that subtlety in the lower bass region, where you would be able to distinguish low bass vs ultra low bass, and that nuance is achieved with mania and completely lost with the Beolit, so in my opinion is like comparing a toy speaker with a adult sounding speaker the mania is.
What camera do you use?
Great stuff. Would you be able to do comparisons of the Devialet Mania against more mainstream speakers like JBL, uboom etc
i agree
Yeah that would be interesting😎👍
