- Thonburi Railways Station in Bangkok, also known as Bangkok Noi
To Kanchanaburi by train only 100 Thai Baht. The train leaves Bangkok twice a day. 7.55am & 1.55pm Platform one. The journey takes around 2 hours 30 mins. It is a 3rd class journey with wooden seats, no air con, & open windows. Be sure to take on board some water as it gets hot. Refreshments are brought on board half way through the train ride. All in all a great little experience. I would definitely do it again.
I hope you enjoyed the movie. if so, please share with all your friends, & family.
if you would like to give a little something back for all my hard work, and information?
There is now a way to help out towards costs of videos.
As you probably appreciate, they take a lot of my time and effort.
Thank you very much in advance.

Fantastic!👍👍
Great vid Geoff 😃👍
i did that trip years ago geo
ff --enjoyed it too--stayed at my bar girls sisters place in katchanaburi, for a few nights , it was alright apart from the dogs barking and roosters crowing all ruddy night
Brisbane Australia My husband and I are there in February Thank you Geoff
I liked your chanel. You presented primitve form of Thai life and the sound of train and both sides of the railway reminded me of the rulal country where i live when i was young
Nice video Geoff. I especially liked the views of the countryside from the train. I remember back in the mid 90s taken a 3rd class from Khon Kaen to Nong Khai with my wife and 4 year-old. Even rougher wooden seats at that time. One thing the video can't capture with regard to those open/missing windows are the smells of the rural countryside. Foremost to me was the smell of smoke. Cooking, burning rubbish, burning brush.
geoff! you are tops man! a great nice friendly happy guy and very informative! i been to thailand twice and you make sick with envy! hahah keep em coming north west's finest!! ME LOVE THE VIDS MAK MAK!!
Another master class from Geoff, great video. Hope your in pattaya in 2 weeks so I can meet you for a beer.
Thonburi station as is, wasn't the end of the line originally, but was Bangkok Noi. The original Thonburi was around half a mile further on, right on the river front. The station building survives and i think is a museum, there's an old demic steam loco outside.....
i love GEOFF CARTER vdo
Awesome buddy .. Iam also a regular backpacker and never believe in these publicly post vdos. But your number makes me like woowww.. U gave every details of travel in a natural way.. Kudos .. Subscribed n became ur fan . M moving tomorrow
Great vid Geoff, Hope you find your way to VN Guesthouse. You will love it..
Nice video brotha .. I like your style and the way with details that you explain things. Thanks a lot because I'm going there the next month
You do make me laugh Jeff......go with the flow it is the only way.
How can you not smile watching these videos.
This brings back some wonderful memories of travelling through Thailand, and I did the same journey except I left from Kanchanaburi and travelled along the "Death" railway over the famous bridge. Very interesting vlogs Geoff keep it up.
Love it!
Great, didnt want it to finish.
Ordering that Pepsi is classic Geoff Carter excellent.
Keep smiling , everyday , keep living the dream !!
Been on that train before myself , hot and sticky , a must at least once !!!
A great trip.I took the Sky Train to the station closest to Thonburi and then got a taxi. Saved a lot of time.
Excellent vlog Geoff I think I would of preferred your mode of transport, I did the trip 10 years ago with mr t taxi. Thanks Geoff.
Eat your heart out michael palin love it geoff
This guy will be a fun travel buddy.
A brilliant vid Geoff, when I did Kanchanaburi last Sept from Pattaya for 2 nights, the trip cost me 4000 baht including a few trips, may do it again this year, but your way, far cheaper, will you be in Pattaya late sept/Oct, would love to buy you a chang..
The easy way from Sukhumvit to Thonburi is to get the blue Underground MRT line to Bang Khun Non, for probably around 50 Bhat. From there its a 5 min walk to Thonburi, or wait at the Thonburi line platforms next door to the MRT line station, and jump on your train there...... You save yourself best part of a tenner......
good man Geoff
Hope you enjoyed the countryside, I have done that trip twice from Kanchanaburi, 100baht, can't beat it 😎
Shared mate, Awesome video as usual. Did you end up getting your Pepsi? That was hilarious.
its good too see you out of pattay
Once we drove from Kanchanaburi to my girlfriend's sister, 80 kilometers to the north.
She and her daughter didn't have to pay anything for the ticket ( there are certain months where the travel is free for Thais). Of course I had to pay the 100 baht lol³ . Thanks for the video. :)
Did you get your Pepsi in the end Geoff ?
Check out Pong Pen guest houses next to the river while your there Geoff, big room cheap prices and great views.
It is quicker and much cheaper to get to Thonburi station (Bangkok Noi) by Skytrain (BTS) from Sukhumvit to Saphan Taksin station, then get a River bus 15 baht to Tha Rot Fai pier (for Thonburi railway station). Tha Rot Fai pier is the stop after Wang Lang pier and on the opposite side of the river from Tha Maharaj pier where tourists go to the Royal Palace.
The train station is a short walk from the pier. Google map is good for this.
I got there by car, if I know your video early i would go there by train.
Nice one Geoff. If you are still there, make sure you go onto the Aussie memorial beyond the end of the line at the Hellfire Pass Memorial Museum. Beautiful and moving place, just get a taxi from the end of the line.
I agree Ed,, it is an exceptional experience; except it isnt just an Aussie thing...UK, Dutch, Thai and not forgetting the East Island soldiers.
Good one Geoff its great fun on those old Trains just dont get carried away sticking your head out of the window could get decapitated 5555 ... also you got to admire Thai pricing sometimes cost me 120baht from BKK to Pattaya on a aircon bus then baht bus drivers want 150baht to take you 1 mile down road to your hotel 5555
Street food looks yummy! Those trains were awesome...but don't look very comfortable...how were the seats? Thanks for sharing...love your videos!
nice one Geoff, CHOOOOO CHOOO ! {Hope you got your pepsi in the end LOL }
Should have carried on to Nam tok the scenery is beautiful as well as the memorable train ride along death railway and a visit to hellfire pass .
Another great video geoff. I went to koh chang after seeing your videos and it really is a beautiful place. Back again in April for songkran (I really enjoy the songkran atmosphere) and will look at a trip to kanchanaburi. When are you next over any chance of you been there in April? Changs on me if you are 😃
Did you get ya Pepsi Geoff? You should go further north on the train up to Nam tok, it's amazing scenery and don't miss The Death Railway walk WOW!
Brilliant vlogg Geoff..i did that journey years ago....thats what Thailands all about...the adventures. Keep it up mate ☺
First video of yours I seen nice
