    Great video, easy to follow steps.
    Have you ever fitted a 700x500 skymaxx at the rear? We have a L2H2 and currently plan to fit the larger skylight above the bed. Just trying to find confirmation it will fit ok between the roof structural beams and not overhang the rear of the van.

    You could tape a bin bag or similar to the inside roof to catch the swarf from the cutting, popping a magnet in the bag will catch it as you cut. If a magnet isn't to hand then a squeeze of mastic on the middle of the bag will catch most as the vibrations will cause them to move towards the centre.

      Thanks bren that’s a great idea. We used to do put a plastic liner underneath to capture it but some always escaped and it’s still all over the roof so know we just cut all the holes and then do a deep clean

    HI STU 😁 Great videos very informative ,maybe you could include the van build total weight as a lot of van builders dont show what the van comes in before passengers and fuel/water etc... Most van builders go over the TOTAL 3500kgs . Your builds with lightweight ply are all on spec but most home builders are using heavy PLY AND ARE RUNNING OVER WEIGHT.... Wishing you all the best with new business. 👍

      That’s very true mate, our first van weighed 2640kg unloaded so had a fantastic pay load, the grey Ducato we finished in February weighed 3160kg completely loaded including fuel, water and garage loaded so very pleased with our vehicle weights after conversion 👍🏻👊🏻

    Thanks for this, it's perfect timing as I have to replace one of my skylights thanks to a stupid pigeon headbutting it and smashing the "glass" plus part of the frame. Itvwill be the same process but the hole is already cut and the wood frame is in place. If it wasn't I would hold the frame with some clamps as I don't have props.

      Thanks mate, with solar it’s a case of get as much on the roof as you can fit. If there is two skylights we use our 445w panel but if only 1 skylight we can get 525w +

    Hey Stu, great informational video. Just got my 50x70 skylight for my boxer and will be fitting it as soon as it gets a little bit warmer around here.
    Just a question, might be stupid, but after cutting the hole and filing it, you mention that you threat the bare metal, what are you using to threat it?
    I have got hamerite but the text said you threat it before applying hamerite so just wondering what to use.
    Thanks and keep it up, can't wait for the next how to video!

    • @VanologyConversions
      @VanologyConversions  9 месяцев назад +2

      Thanks mate, I applied a primer to the bare metal. You can just apply the hammerite straight to it. I then applied the hammerite afterwards with about a 10mm overspill both sides 👍🏻🚐
