I enjoyed every bit of this. Appreciate the spotlight on this character. Didn't know much about his history, and it makes me want to go back and read his journey in the pages of the Avengers. Hopefully he gets fleshed out in the MCU.

In my marvel universe series he’s an Avenger. But his past as a villain is something that he isn’t really proud of.
I mostly know the Swordsman after having to Elis' Thunderbolts run with Andrea Von Strucker's Swordsman a long time ago, although I wanted to know more about other Swordsmen before then since I was never fan of this typical character.
Swordsman is one of the few villains that have beaten both captain America and the Black PANTHER.
This turned out to be more intense than I thought. Holy crap. Will you do

Aw man! I remember the trade of the Celestial Madonna story was one of the first comics I read and took note of Swordsman. It was the first time I ever saw or heard of him, so I thought he was a short-lived character whose whole storyline was that he was a doofus loser among giants and that Mantis treated him like crap because he was so underwhelming. I never knew he had a much longer run and more tragic story. I feel even worse for him than I did back then.
If the Norman Osborne era of Thunderbolts is to be believed, the Andrea von Strucker Swordsman could fire beams and stuff through his sword too, but because he had powers he could use only when making skin-to-skin contact with his sister. As she was dead during that time (maybe still is?), he had to make due by wrapping some of her skin around the hilt(?) of his sword. He was a bit weird, but he actually defeated the Mac Gargan Venom when some captured psychics drove all of the Thunderbolts crazy, so he was no slouch.
Dude could of just changed his name and persona, switching up his costumed-identity entirely (like hawk-eye did as Goliath) to start anew in rebuilding up his reputation..... I mean thats probably the easiest way to not get instantly recognized and chased out of regions that his “problematic-identity” was linked to.
It Probably would of cost him alot less headaches and failed opportunities in the end. Baron Zeemo did exactly that and it worked out to his benefit (for the most part)
Marvel characters sure can be pretty silly when it comes to logical decision making.
We did a rundown of this Comic book character as well. I’m glade it in Hawkeye it deviates from the comics! Hope he’s in multiple series after this great character and Tony Dalton is a gem! 🙏🏻 great show!

Thought he had a connection to Gambit as well and wasn't revealed his father wasn't dead but actually a live and had a new identity it turned out his real history was connected to a old French family and was wealthier than he believed think it was connected to Gambit's family too?
That sounds interesting but I didn't come across anything like that in my research and I believe I was fairly thorough. Perhaps that's another version of the character? I'd love to know more if somebody has a source for this.
Why did they bother putting the swordsman in a show if they were just gonna change everything?
They change things for characters all the time in the MCU, this isn’t any different. I really do like how he was portrayed tho. Even though everyone knew he wasn’t the villain. He was still mesmerizing to watch.
