For anyone interested, the video is from 1959. It is a British film called Beat Girl (Wild for Kicks in the US). The girl is Gillian Hills and the guy is a young Oliver Reed.

For anyone missing their blues sound, check out the last 2 years of music where they've been more prolific than ever releasing a blues cover album and an album heavily influenced by blues music. New directions are not a bad thing.
Well it took me back to my 'Heady Durban Daze' with the best herb in the world, back in the 60s. Even the police & their adverse intentions couldn't stop us. They momentarily put the brakes on us, but that was all. Love this band for the panoramic diversity of all the music they play. From those deep blues roots, to fun soul such as thus. You guys are great 🎉
Ive been binging through Brothers, Lets Rock, El Camino, and Dropout Boogie, it's crazy how they have yet to miss ONCE🗣🗣🔥🔥 Genuinely peak music the whole way through🗣🗣🔥🔥💯
As soon as I heard the new Album's title I thought surely they must be going for a funk feel this time. And here it is. Wonderful! Can't wait to get the new Album.
IKR.? Getting my friend to put that first album/CD on the juke box was a real good deed. Turned a whole town on to these Cats!! Peace n Love n RocknRoll !!!
How great is this? This world would be so much blander sonically if the Black Keys had never got together. I owe them for a better outlook on things each time I hear/see one of their new videos.
Never heard of this group until this song came out on the radio. I really like it it's got a unique sound. It's sort of reminds me of a song that you would hear watching something like Ocean's 11 or one of the ocean's movies
If you want to dig into their discography, you can check at first Brothers and El Camino albums. And then if you like, listen all the stuff since their debut album "The Big Come Up" in 2002
Why would you start so late in their discography? Just start with the first album and listen to all of it Like anyone would. That'd be like watching the 4th movie in a series before any of the others
This video shows clips from the British movie "Beat Girl" filmed in 1959 (the movie was called "Wild For Kicks" in the United States). The girl was played by Gillian Hills who was only 15 during filming. The film was given an X Certificate (Explicit Content) in the UK which meant that nobody under 16 could see the film. Ironically, Ms. Hills was filming a movie that she was not allowed to watch. The guy in the movie as the late, great Oliver Reed who was probably 21 during filming. His was a small bit role and he was only credited as being Plaid Shirt. When I was 7 or 8 years old, I saw the movie "Oliver!" and Oliver Reed's character of Bill Sikes scared the hell out of me. I became a big fan of Oliver Reed after that movie.
The video clip used in this song is from a 1960 movie called "Beat Girl" featuring Gillian Hills (blonde) dancing with a young Oliver Reed (plaid shirt).
@@isaacburdiss kicks in at about 13 seconds in and is mixed into the background of the intro and the choruses. Sounds like it's mainly there to add an extra layer to the intro and the choruses so pretty subtle but I like little music production tricks like that.
Remember When (Side C) Oh no Happened when I heard your song Same old thoughts just come along Oh they do... yeah, they do Somewhere in my sorry state, Inspiration struck me in the brain Oh, it's true... yeah it's true Remember when you heard The Black Keys Wrote cool songs.... Yeah you do
Dan and Pat have such a great range. Go from a real bluegrass style with their last releases to this 50s/60s mod rock fusion sound. Now when is the next world tour??
Thought to myself this sounds a bit like Beck, circa 2008; Looked up who produced this and yup. (Co-production by Dan the Automator!) Excited for the whole thing!
For anyone interested, the video is from 1959. It is a British film called Beat Girl (Wild for Kicks in the US). The girl is Gillian Hills and the guy is a young Oliver Reed.
Oh thank you!! I watched this a year ago and couldn't remember a single important detail about it that could lead me to the title.
True. Reed died in 1999 in Malta during the filming of Gladiator, in which he played slave owner Proximo.
Thanks I thought the male actor looked familiar!
Thank you! The Woman looked so familiar and it was driving me crazy!
Oh wow. Was thinking it was a really well done recreation of the time. Good to know. They really did have have charisma
They nail the retro sound so well that it seems like I have been listening to this song for years.
The chorus has that 'wall of sound' feel to it
Exactly what I was thinking
it's super nice
Because you have, good song but it is the same. Delta Kream was there most unique album
Every song from the black keys sound like I’ve been listening for years
It's exciting what a wide variety of styles they explore while remaining recognizable and delivering banger after banger
Spot on!
Or just doing what they been doin' all along.
Can def tell Beck was involved with this.
All they do is bang
In 2024 I hope the world dances together a little more than usual.
Love this band. Thanks for all the great music!

As someone born in 1960 and a long time Black Keys fan you are exactly right 🎉❤
Fabulous song.....sounds right outta the 60"s, and that bass is da' bomb!!!

The tones, the tones, THE SOUND MANNNNNN! Great mix
Started the year as we should. The black keys never disappoint
I'm not sure that they were ever " underestimated". They've been putting out some pretty solid shit for decades now.
Amazing Black Keys sound ❤ as always !!! What a great groove!!!
I've been a fan of theirs since the early 2000s and they never disappoint! What an excellent song!!!
Me too. Saw them live in a small venue in Ghent, Belgium back in 2007. I just love how they've evolved over the years.
This is their best song in a while. Love that funky bluesy rock vibe!!
One of a kind! They sound just like the Black Keys and no one else!
THIS is why Rock and Roll will never die!

Very catchy and love the tune. This song is gonna blow up for sure.
Love it!! Their music takes me back to simpler times.
Praise this band. They deserve it.
Rhythm section just must have baritone sax. The way those grunts fill in spaces is magical.
Love this, I've listened to this song five times atleast, and I'm turning the volume up so everyone in my neighborhood can hear- Love from Ohio ❤❤❤❤

Mais uma música foda e NOVA! Nem acredito! ROCK'N'ROLL STILL LIVES!!!
This is great! For me, the main trait of a great artist was always the fact that they don't stagnate and are not afraid of exploring new sounds.
😭
Everything they do is golden! 💛
Oliver Reed and The Black Keys! I'd thought I would never see the day!
If anyone's curious, the film footage is Oliver Reed and Gillian Hills in Beat Girl (1960)
Oliver Reed !!! Indeed! the Famous Proximo from Ridley Scott's Gladiator ! thanks !
